  • love the use of feedback and the experimental accompaniment.

  • i loove dis song wth violins

  • OMG, take his hands off the guitar, please... My ears exploded

  • British Television, BBC America?

  • 0:34 steve jobs :O!!!

  • This is music indeed, but the guitar is a mess, and the bass tone is terrible for the song. Good work with the orchesta anyway.

  • I wish I was grown up in the 90s but I was just even born there :(

  • It was still the 90´s when rhe verve did this song right?

  • Great song and very well sung live!

  • Chinguen a su madre todos jajaja

  • RATEROS ROLLIS

  • The dislikes are from people who thinks music is only computer and bass.. No mates.. This is what i call music..

  • mis mejores momentos ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,mi vida contigo Cristina mi conejita y dany

  • CLASSIC!!!!

  • this is music

  • This Is Music...

  • 6 crazzy people

  • Come on men !!

It is like finding an old vhs tape in the attic.

    what a treasure!

a pleasure to see this wonder of another time.

    fucking memories.

  • Shame on you for uploading this in such SHITE quality!!

  • wish i would have seen the verve in concert

  • thee best song of 90's

  • thee best song of 90's

  • thee best song of 90's

  • english music owns american music (Y)

  • The greatest song ever!!

  • #1

  • I believe this is a great song. I enjoyed it very much

  • Wow. This sounds exactly like the album version!

  • This song is beast! Who would of thought that Mexican quinceañeras use this song for a simple dance. I was the main male dancer for my cousin. Sick song without a doubt.

  • THIS SONG IS EXCELENT

  • If there were no violins, 80% of the people wouldn't like it

  • @davidgruty that is so true but then again thats like sayin nobody would like Richard Ashcroft if he didnt have a tongue

  • @JohnJunior09 lol!

  • @davidgruty Well seeing as the Violin is a major instrument in this song, taking it out would make the song sound funny. It's like taking the drums out of Rush's Tom Sawyer. It would sound funny. Name one song you would like when it was missing a major instrument.

  • @davidgruty If Andrew Oldham hadn't arranged a beautiful composition based on the Stones 'The Last Time', nobody would like this song. They really did rip it off. That opening movement with the violins, which is the most powerful part of the song, is directly from the Oldham record. Have a listen to the original Oldham orchestra (should be on youtube). It's basically the same song, minus Ashcroft's vocals/lyrics, (which is why Klein sued them)

  • @ritter89 I found it; i didn't know. very nice

  • @davidgruty only a dumb american would say something this stupid,i wish we had this kind of talent over here but unfortunatly only the british have this kind of innovation.

  • @linoma57 i'm not american and i (think) am not a dumb.

Many people around me know this song, and they don't even know the name of it, or of the band. They say "the violins song". Maybe you are lucky and your friends are more musically cultured people; mine are not

  • @davidgruty Wrong ! The acoutic version with just the voice and the guitar is awesome too !

  • @davidgruty I'm the 20%

  • @davidgruty well it does have the violins in it so i wouldnt worry about it

  • @davidgruty because people are like sheep, comercialize the first few seconds of the song and then you get fucking capitalism mate.

  • @davidgruty If there was no singing 90% of the people wouldn't like it...dumb comment you idiot

  • @Ilikedmyowncomment what kind of comment is this? why are you insulting??

  • @davidgruty your point?

  • @davidgruty it's like someone said "if there were no guitars, 80% of the people wouldn't like it".......

  • @Sebyker but almost all songs have guitars

  • @davidgruty if people would play it mute, 70% of the people wouldn't like it

  • @piedracita I would say 100%

  • @davidgruty the violins rock!!! i love this song.i agree with you

  • @doubleofarm I think they do, I never said the contrary

  • @davidgruty but there are, so +80 more percent of people like this

  • @davidgruty i agree wth u 2 i love the violins

  • the glastonbury version kicks ass

  • @iorch421 very emotional speach at the start, absolute quality song........shivers down the spine every time,i would love to be in his shoes in front of that crowd, what a feeling....

  • in the beginning of the video when the singer walks around... omg he seriously looks like Liam Gallagher when Oasis performed on The White Room in 1995!

  • although it sounds like a stones voice, congrats to whoever composed the string arrangement.

  • Awesome

  • LOVE IT!!!!! One of the greatest songs of all time...thanks for sharing this...love this version...The Verve and Richard Ashcroft ROCK!!!!!! :)))))

  • Wonderful - symphonic sounds by the orchestra perfect accompaniment to Ashcroft's great vocals. Great version.

  • This version is a bit more mellow than the original. I like it.

  • simplesmente a melhor musica de todas. amoO

  • Ill just the Verve and Oasis both totally rock!!!

  • true that! go to rippify [dot] com to download youtube music to mp3s.

  • Verve way better Oasis crap

  • makes me proud to be a british musician in america

  • originally they had a 5050 deal with Klien until the song went huge then Klien wanted 100 percent, they had to give everything they made, i thought that was strange since Ashcroft wrote the lyrics

  • Ignoring all the copyright issues for a moment I.E. the Rolling Stones (it wasn't them): Andrew Oldham (it was his recording); Allen Klein (it was his copyright, now he's dead); etc., this is a tremendous performance from Richard and the band. It really is.

  • still one of the best songs!

  • esa vna de las cacniones de la ptm..

  • The God is

  • a stolen sample from the rolling stones and it gets turned into a perfect song

  • El Sonido es Una vil mkierda Pero La Verdad esque la rola this mega superhierp buena Creo Que Gran Himno de las Naciones Unidas Que buen rolonononon

  • the sound of my life the song that keeps me alive

  • if you listin to rdin solo by Jason derulo, the starts are the exact same!

  • @ruairisheridan Jason Derulo copies everyone. Whatcha Say, for example. It's originally Hide And Seek - Imogen Heap.

  • @DeeFaery yeh, btw i wasnt expecing some1 as pretty as you to have a youtube account!

  • @ruairisheridan lol! Um, thanks I think. That was a compliment, right? Anyway, I heard the song and it didn't sound much like Bittersweet Symphony. =P But, I asked my sister's opinion on which she thought was better and guess what she picked?!

    Jason Derulo.

She has bad taste in music. :(

  • @DeeFaery yeh it was a compliment :). the version i downloaded, at the start sounds exactly like this :S. How can she pick JD over this like! Quality tune like.

  • @ruairisheridan Really? Copycad.

I know right? I'm embarassed to call her my sister! lol jk. she's cool :D

  • @DeeFaery lol, anyway we will just wait till his new song comes out and find where he has taken it from!

  • was it cold in that studio??

  • @songoftherushes ha ha lol they are wearing a considerable amount of layers though ha ha

  • @yvonnerina One must suffer for fashion...it's worth it.....

  • When I look for epic music... i look to the east..oasis, coldplay, the verve, queen, led zepplin, radiohead...and much more...

  • And to think they chose that tosser Gallaghers album over this as album of the decade.Ungrateful prick

  • @ldr

for exactly the same reason A Rush of Blood to The Head was nominated but OK Computer wasn't.

Oasis and Coldplay are more 'accessible'. Don't get me wrong Oasis were a great band, one of my favourites, but Urban Hymns is without a doubt the best album made in the last 30 years in my opinion.

Sadly though, bands like The Verve and Radiohead are ignored for being unique. But to the minority who appreciate great music nowadays, they will never be forgotten.

  • @ldr .. my sentiments exactly, thats what i though, this album has quality track after track, theres some bloody epic songs on Urban Hymns, just check out Haigh Hall. yeah, they were robbed..

  • Richard just lays this thing out.

    5 Stars

  • manera...

  • Class , Love the guitar ,

    Amazing tooooooooooooon

  • guitar in this is amazing ,I love it.

    What a tooooooooooon

  • @unfortunately204 it is. very very fals

  • one of the best 10 songs of the 90´s

  • @Cribocop one of the best songs ever

  • my favorite!

  • FKN CLASS

  • been lucky enough to see them live but this is just amazing perfect

  • Can't believe i've never heard this version...amazing!

  • he must have came in his pants around 1 minute after that intro...class

  • It must be so boring for those classical musicans to repeat the same sample all the time :).

  • Long live the Verve, Great song!!!!!!

  • WOW...love it. Great song!!

  • this version is different, but i love it!

  • BEST SONG EVA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best!

  • Fantastico!

  • deeply brilliant

  • What an absolutely amazing song! Thank you for posting this beautiful performance!

  • No way, Urban Hymns is an awesome album but Oasis have Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory and Be Here Now

  • I'm not sure BHN is an Oasis classic... OK for DM and MG...they're awesome.

I hate the comparison between Oasis and Verve.. these 2 bands are awesome (but i prefer Oasis ^^).

  • For me, BHN is a classic. it may be totally ludicrous in production, length and is lyrically porr in some places, however as far as I'm concerned the fact that it was so obviously produced on a mountain of cocaine adds to the sheer arrogance of a band that were at the time the best and biggest in the world. That album is the perfect album to show it.

  • @luftair they are both very good bands with a very distinct style.

  • @luftair

    suck a dick?

  • @luftair oasis isn't just band it's something special and amazing, wonderful and for somebody everything.

why do you compare these great bands i don't understand, i love both of them and verve is my childhoods band which causes many feelings in me but i'll never say that it's better than oasis because it won't be just

  • one of the best songs in the world!

  • @paulinefranzen unbelieble

  • @paulinefranzen

    agreee best in the universe

  • I love this song!

  • best song ever .

  • i love tis son. we used it for our hockey season opener song. we had al the lights off and they started playing it before we hit the ice nd when we came out thre were like spotlights and shit. it was awesome. this song fit that accasioun perfectly.

  • THIS IS LOVE!

  • esta canción esta super fregona!

  • "this is music" great album !

  • THIS IS MUSIC!!

  • philosophically speaking, what is england? on a related note, what is england not?

  • just enjoy the music....and leave us alone with your stupid philosophy. it's a piece of real estate that's all it is

  • brilliant live performance

  • It is a remarkable song, and one that I feel very personally connected to...

However, as for it being the best song ever *write*...

If you listen to it side by side with Andrew Loog Oldham's version, you can see why they lost their court case. They stole more than the violins, they took the whole melody line of the song...

It's a pity in a way, but I'm glad they stole it anyway... It kicks Oldham's ass, and is possibly one of the best *recordings* of all time ;-)

  • well what can you say. it's my favorite song of all time and i dont really care. there is a saying that something comes from eevrything else. the point is that things are thought up already and there is nothing origianl. i kind of agree with that

  • It wasn't actually a court case, they gave up the profits voluntarily. It was either that or never be able to release the song in the first place.

And I'm sure we all know which would have been worse...

  • best movie song ever wrote and the singer is beautiful

  • es la mejor cancion de todos los tiempos, es suave y te hace sentir tal como es la realidad en la que vemos las cosas al llegar a la mayoria de edad

  • possibly the greatest peice of music ever fookun wrote!??

  • Love this song!

  • I Love the Guitar in it, Its Fab, Makes this song the Guitar being like that :D

    The Verve, You ROCK!!!

  • I agree, Bittersweet Symphony is one of the most impressive songs ever made, the instrumental part is just amazing, but, in this video, they could have done better...

  • Long live the VERVE!!!!!!!

and long live their tunes that make us realize that life could be like this:

    a Bittersweet symphony......

  • disagreed, this is the most powerful version of this song performed live, hands down

  • MollqvistDepeche, do you mean the mcabe stuff at the start? thats bangin :p

  • the women i am going to marry is going to love this song as much me! where r u?????????

  • Richard Ashcroft is the best.

  • tienes razón!!

    richard es lo maximo!!

  • same jacket as Liam Gallagher...
