Optimus sheds Jetfires wings, jet engines, etc., but he still hangs on to a crapload of parts that significantly alters most of his body. He may ditch the flight tech, but the way he doesn't with THESE parts suggests some kind of vitality to their function. (And yet, he still has the same chest that he has before his death, which you'd THINK would need the most work and would actually be justified in its looking different in Movie 3.)

@Bobzeaux Erm..he doesnt. Just look at him on the aircraft carrier at the very end of the movie, Optimus is back to looking like he did before. Sam revived Optimus with the Matrix, that repaired the fatal wounds on his body but he was too weak to fight The Fallen. Jetfire than gave him his parts to use as a power up pack to fight The Fallen with, after Jolt gave him a much needed boost of Energon. After that he shed ALL the parts and went back to looking like normal.

Exactly my point. We actually SEE him shed his flight tech and nothing else, and it gives the impression that he needs these remaining parts that have integrated throughout his body. And one jump-cut later, he's back in old body. Why? And even IF he had a legit reason for losing the extra bits in his arms and such, wouldn't that mean he's just as weak as he was before having to face the Fallen?

That half-head thing on Megs is ALSO this movie series opening insulting the intelligence of its audience. If we're to assume that beheading these robots will kill them, how are they completely functional (if weakened) with only HALF of their head? And if Megs could be easily revitalized in Movie 2 despite the complications of being under water for 2 years, what's stopping him from similarly repairing himself between Movie 2 & 3?

@Bobzeaux Again, you obviously wasn't paying attention. Megatron was "easily" revived in movie 2 because the decepticons stole the remaining piece of the Allspark cube and revived him with that, after ripping apart a couple of other decepticons to use for parts. Where that Allspark shard went after that is a mystery but i always figured it was a one use type of thing since it was only a shard of the Allspark and not the whole thing.

That's one of the biggest problems about these movies; they introduce big plotholes about which all we can do is TRY to fill in ourselves since the movies don't care about answering such questions. And that still doesn't answer the question of how he's still fully functional, or why he can't repair himself. Assuming one is still alive after such an injury, you'd THINK it'd be up there one's list of priorities.

@Bobzeaux Also by movie 3 Megatron was a weak half-broken down mess after being defeated and severely injured by Optimus by the end of movie 2, he had half a head for goodness sake! And if you remember Starscream even made mention of Megatrons weakened state during the desert scene in movie 3, so that was why Prime was able to defeat him so easily compared to how Megatron was in movie 1 when he was in perfect working order and all powerful. So my friend it helps to pay attention.

@Bobzeaux I don't think minor continuity errors (yes they are minor because they are barely noticeable unless you watch the movies back-to-back and don't affect the plot in any way) mean a movie has ruined itself.

'Minor' continuity errors aside, there's also the completely botched characterization, lack of focus, pitiful attempts at humor, acting that's mediocre at best, the plot that doesn't even care about how nonsensical it is, and worst of all, a general attitude that says "F*** the rules of good film-making, it's toy robots fighting, just shut up and enjoy it!"

oh and yeah, it IS a japanese toys robot that actually has no sense since there wasn't really a story in it..

so if you so hate that movie and saying your point, gladly make it happen than whining off from something that made money

Exactly my point. We KNOW what it takes to make a good movie, even to the point where it's possible to do so with little/no resources at our disposal. These movies spent a combined $650 million and had all the resources in the world. To demand that THEY follow the same standards of good storytelling is not an unreasonable one.
