@aotwtelevision you have no idea how funny it is to read how worked up you're getting over this. First, trying to pass off your opinion as fact is immature (you thinking my piece isn't impressive is an opinion, however you singing out of key is a fact.) Second, you're making a fool out of yourself without my help. And third, I'm actually going to the University of Wisconsin, Superior studying film composition. Learn the proper English language, BUDDY.
@aotwtelevision actually the only reason I keep responding is because when I have lunch at the music lounge at the university, I check my emails. I, along with my friends, find it very amusing how ridiculous you sound, both in your comments and videos. Remember: music is for enjoyment. Many people enjoy watching this video, and I enjoy playing. I, along with my friends, agree that you're just an immature egomaniac. Chill out bro- its only a silly tune after all.
@aotwtelevision learn the rule: your / you're your is a possessive adjective, indicating ownership of something
That is your sock. Where is your potato? you're is a contraction (combination) of you and are Do you know what you're doing? You're stupid. The two are not interchangeable. Getting it wrong makes you look stupid. And ugly.
Beginning at 030 it sounds like the intro for a STYX song, and again at 138. But it's only a few bars and doesn't define the tune. It is quite apparent however.
Awesome song, I've only just started to figure out the beginning of it on my Mandolin, which I only just started to play. :P
Mandolin is a fun instrument, but after playing Upright Bass and Bass guitar the tiny frets are hard to work with, but Mandolin is still fun to play. Also, you really need to put tabs for this up somewhere. I really want to play it.
this is incredible, i played violin for 6 years before picking up a mandolin, so i dont find the the fingerwork to difficult, but i'm having trouble wit hstrumming styles, any tips. i also play guitar so i think this might have heled, but still cant understand how you hit the string with such ferocity yet you get such a clear sound....practice i guess. truly amazing well done!
@tigerslaya123 Red haired Boy is a great starting tune. There is a good video on here that breaks it down in the key of A very well. It will take you a while but once you get it it's fun and sounds good for family and friends. And remember: play scales, scales, scales until you are sick of them, then play them some more! It is not that fun but will pay huge dividends in a fairly short time
You're way too good at the Mandolin to be recording by such primitive means. You owe it to yourself to invest in some decent recording equipment. I would buy your cd.
You're not going to believe this! I just bought a mandolin half an hour ago! It's the A shape, hand made by the Big Muddy Mandolin Company in Rockport, MO. It will take me a while to get it all together with a teacher. I can't think I'm so excited. I'll keep you posted, no pun intended.
This is a trip! My hands are very small and I got this idea to learn to play the mandolin. I came to Youtube to hear some and I found YOU. THANK YOU for this. It brings tears to my eyes and shows me that my idea is probably correct.
@reynosamanA3 You're teasing me. I'm going out to the garden to eat worms. Ha! I AM pretty emotional. Cancer the Crab. This video was a BIG influence on me.Lessons are going very well. Currently learning Sam Cooke's Love Will Find a Way. I had a hard time finding a teacher.
Wow that was amazing, what kind of mandolin is that/ how much did it cost? I'm completely new to mandolins and have no idea if theres a difference with sound between models (I've seen some with completely round bodys). If you could help me out that would be awesome
That's sick bro, I have been playing guitar for quite a while but the first time I tried a mandolin I couldn't put it down for about an hour. I love these instruments. I want to try an octave mandolin next.
hey ive been playing guitar fr a long time and i am really interested in trying to learn mandolin. Im just wondering if it will be easy to teach myself if i already play guita
If you already play guitar, you already know the mechanics on how to play- the only difference is that it is tuned differently. Once you get used to that it is pretty easy :)
I would really like to get stringed instrument like a mandolin or guitar. I've played piano my entire life, clarinet for about 6 years. Do you have any advice for a first time buyer for an instrument such as the mandolin? Types of wood to look into, etc.?
If you are a first time buyer, I personally think that you don't really have to worry that much about different woods and whatnot. Just something that sounds pretty good to your ears and plays easily with working tuners. After a while if you still want to continue with it, then upgrade- But some basic things to look for are any major defects (like the neck is warped, the body is cracking, tuners don't work right, etc.) good luck!
Okay! Good to know! I know a friend of mine bought an acoustic guitar and if you buy it in different woods it has a more rich sound or a less rich sound so I thought that maybe it's the same with a mandolin.
It is the same- but just because a wood is marked as 'better' doesn't mean that you will like the sound better- so if you just use your ear you'll be fine!!! :)
I've been doing some research on brands of Mandolins. The brand "Kentucky" has some great beginner mandolins. Made in China but solid wood and great reviews. Check out the KM 150 or the KM 250, depending what you are willing to spend. I ended up "splurging" and bought the KM 505 but it's a great instrument and I love it.
Okay maybe original just saying the similarity i found, its very like Irvine & Lunny's Riverdance, the whole bulgarian timing. If you haven't heard of andy irvine you should, he plays a mean mandolin and Irish Bouzouki. Tube him
