Back in the day when i saw this cover i thought i was playing with a 30 year old dude kicking ass. when the game started i was playing with a boy and then with a teenager. funny how the japanese artists exaggerate..
My set up was always Ryu, Katt, Rand, and Nina; anyone else? Never liked using Bleu for some reason. So yeah, pretty cool fight with Deathevn as a kid, one of the most memorable ever.
...I'm still waiting for him to return in another BoF game just like he said he would...
@DocRavage I used to use the same lineup, but eventually replaced Nina with Bleu/Deis. She learns all the same spells, adds a few of her own, hits harder, and has warp.
Besides that, I read that after a certain level she's actually the most overpowered character in the game, stats-wise, beating everyone else out in every stat except Guts, where she loses to Ryu.
It's funny how even modern games can't quite capture the mood present in the final scene this song played in.
As for the boxart... yeah, that was at the tail-end of the era in which American distributors decided they knew what fans wanted, better than the fans. They insisted that no American fans would buy a game with anime-style characters and cover art. So instead for BoF1 and 2, they created some of the ugliest cover art ever. It's also indicative of what fantasy was in American minds then.
Heh I know. Katt looks like a mix between Cheetah from Wonder Woman and Ayla from Chrono Trigger, Ryu looks to be modelled after Conan the Barbarian, if Bow looked like that in the game it's easy to see why they accused him, as for Rand and Nina, they just look weird.
easily the best scene of the game. it was the first time i ever got chills playing a video game. after we beat it me n my bro watched bevis and butthead do america cuz it had just come out lol where did the time go?
I can totally relate on the whole crystal thing only reason i got passed it was i mashed buttons then threw my controller once i thought my snes was frozen... lucky me he broke free right there
This was one of the most amazing pieces of music that emerged from Breath of fire II. I sat there and listened to it for a good 5 minutes during the play through, enjoying every moment of it.
I like this music. You hear it fairly early on when you get Bow to old man Niro, but the most memorable time you hear it...is purely epic. Ryu charging through the explosions created by Evan...enraged by the deaths of his friends...
I agree. Took me years (restarted the game 4 times wondering if I missed something) to find out how to get past those crystals and when i finally broke through and I started running with this music, I was pumped up to take Deathevan down. Classic memories...
they sure are, this music fitted perfect with that scene. it was truly inspiring. i am trying to play this game again since i never ended it. i got to the end and after that my copy was stolen.
While I wouldn't say BoF2 boxart is that bad (a half decent attempt at retro fantasy art), I would agree that the Megamans were bad. Can't recall which, but one had me wondering what the hell Dr. Light was doing with the Robot Master. I think it was MM3's boxart.
Dr. Light wasn't on any of the boxarts, however, Dr. Wily was on a few and I know which one you are talking about. MM2.
Megaman looked like a blue robocop without the mask thing shooting at Quickman(who looked more decent than the rest of the picture)and Crashman looked bizarre in the background. With Crash was Dr. Wily(yes that was wily)who strangely looked like Dr. Light. They were also fighting in a combination of Wily stage 1 and Heatman's stage. MM1 though, that's a whole different level.
This game actually brought a tear into my eye, so goddamn good childhood memories during the gameplay.

I'm probably the only one who feels this way, but I think the boxart for this game was one of the most badass things EVER.

@susuke Wrong. It's actually the American artists who made this boxart rediculous xD The Japanese boxart was completely different.

My lineup was Rand in the front for both heavy hitting and healing if necessary, Ryu, Katt for hard hits, and Bow in the rear for healing.

This one has that millitary like feel to it, but yet it also feels very 80s too!

Great song. I didn't get to the area where it plays yet, but it sounds awesome.

Check the original Megamans, for bad box art. I prefer for this series the first box art.

I still wonder what Wily was doing to Crash.
Kinda surprised that whoever did the box art screwed that up, with how Wily was supposed to look and the stage design.

Oh man, I saw the MM1 boxart, terrible stuff on the US cover.
