The U.K gvmnt want to give 'pirates' 2 warnings and then cut off their net connection. F.A.C however want our connections to be 'limited' instead of cut off, but in essence its the same thing. Stephen Fry talked about how punishing the fans would only end in failure (as what happened time and time again in the past), Yet musicians and record companies persist to create things like F.A.C to try and 'connect' with us on a deeper level - so they can make MORE money.
I think that they were not against the downloading of music before Lily Allen made such a big deal of it. However, they had to "compromise" with her to shut her up.
I don't think you can paint all record companies with the same brush. Some of you have done very well out of the 'old' system.
It is good idea as long as there are some guidelines on how you intend to deal with outside companies ie film companies who want to use your material or work alongside you.
All too often it is a nightmare to get to talk to someone to get clearance to use a track.
So...are they in favor or against the downloading of music?
