Was racing coxless quad in Belfast yesterday. Are bowman steered us into a concrete pier at the start of the race and chopped 3 inches off the bow, we kept going caught a crab, then we almost hit a bridge arch, then another younger crew crashed into us. We still won...was awesome
first priority is the safety of the crew and then the boat. However, after everyone was safe and the boat back on land, our asses would have been held accountable had it been our fault. 1000 jumpies anyone?
@macgt53 Some of my teammates were launching from the dock on their quad and someone let go of their port oar, which kind of caught a crab, and the entire boat flipped upside down into the water. It was awful. So it is possible, but very unlikely...
@macgt53 Real real bad rowing. We almost rolled one this week because a girl kept catching crabs on port, and the girl behind her kept diving it to port.
Well when you're injured badly of course you can leave your boat.. rather a person than a boat.. and to those saying he should've just got back in... shut the hell up.. obviously he had a reason to have to leave it.
@anthonymeyza I don't think you understand man, those things are like $50,000 they are worth more than you... When ever theres an accident in my boat house the first question is "Is the boat good?" then we ask about the people, people heal boats don't.
@bloodredcola People are much more precious than boats, that's completely wrong. Also if you went to get all technically humans are worth far more than any boat.
This happened to me in a quad scull boat. 1 experienced girl and me and 2 other guys on our first time ever on a crew boat. star side oars got stuck on one of the towers under a bridge, and we flipped over to port, right into the freezing river xp
whenever we dock the boat incorrectly, coach always reminds us, " you will be doing hills until i no longer find it amusing."
i wonder what would be happening if he saw this...

@terry31127 that's sad. My coach would care more about us. The boat looked fine; it was just capsized.

Last time some freshmen scratched a boat they had to do 500 pushups as well as cleaning there coaches house. NEVER LEAVE YOUR BOAT.

@ftdl i'm assuming the water was too cold to stay in or something
Gar91 1 year ago
@ftdl That's bull. If the water is cold the first priority is getting the rowers out of the water and back to land.

I would be doing 30,000 push ups after that.
