  • Great video, thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for the advice. You really help all of us starting Djs with your videos.

  • @satanstorms i appreciate that. Anything to help the industry and shorten the learning curve.

  • I just bought a pair of K10s and I was just wondering how you use the high frequency option, I read in the manual that it is not recommended to use the Vocal Boost option when playing full range music, however I like how the speakers sound with this option. Do you think using this option when playing full range music will damage the speaker or there is no problem? Do you use Vocal Boost or Flat when you DJ?

  • @satanstorms The Vocal Boost is particularly effective for ceremonies, presenters, etc. But I'll admit I sometimes prefer using this setting during music playback-especially receptions w/announcements. Most of the time I don't engage it for dance music, and the few times I have I've brought down the mid EQ slightly on my mixer to find just the right sound. The only risk of Vocal Boost during dance music playback is fatigue of the listener. You won't do any kind of damage to the speaker itself.

  • Sounds good thanks!

  • the way you have it set there, with the line in from the iPod and one of the mic inputs used, is it possible to also run a 2nd mic into the open 1/4-XLR and essentially run 2 mics and the iPod all at the same time?

    Great vid. Thanks!

  • @gruvdj1 The K-Series all allow one microphone input on Channel A (left side). You could use Channel B as mic input only if you converted your mic signal to a line level with something like a Shure A85F transformer (around $20 bucks). Otherwise, just 1 mic input.

  • @BassIsLoadedDJ

awesome. That's do-able. Been getting a lot of gigs lately requiring dual location setups. I have the 15" 2way HPR's already and love em'. Just need something more smaller & lightweight that can be driven just as hard. Now if I can only find some K12's on sale.

For that video you have posted up for the corporate holiday event, do you think you could have just as easily gotten away with using the K8's or K10's with the subs instead? Thanks!!

  • @gruvdj1 Absolutely, the K8's or K10's would have worked just fine in that venue, in fact even a little better. At the time I only had the 12's. Now I own them all! You'll find some of my videos on agiprodj's channel as well. I'd be happy to get some prices your way from agiprodj. In fact, I'll send you a message directly.

  • Thank you for all of your great videos. Very informative! My QSC K10's arrived via FedEx this morning and I couldn't be happier. Now I've gotta work on getting a K-sub. :) Without a sub, they're still better sounding than anything else out there in my opinion.

On a side note, we seem to have a lot in common. We both use the same font on our website, been in business the exact same number of years, and both have the k-series. LOL

Anyways, thanks for sharing these videos with us. Take care.

  • Thanks JT. Glad you've found the videos informative. Congrats on 20 years in the biz!

  • GREAT SPEAKERS MAN

  • Are those 12" or 15"? I use the JBL eon 515's and they are so powerful as well as sound perfect! They have 3 line in's and outputs just like those have too. Im interested in that setup, I think im going to be checking them out when I make my next upgrade. Should be soon, you will see videos of all the stuff I get soon. Im kinda of new to youtube though so I don't have many videos. Working on that!

  • Thanks for the follow up-much more clear what you were talking about :) Your 728's are awesome. SPL is their greatest strength AND weakness. When you feed those hungry monsters lots of power they sound incredible, yet at 98db 1w@1m they don't do much at low-to-moderate levels. I can't imagine trying to get good sound from a passive sub/active main system using a powered QSC (or similar) that sounds great at high AND low volumes matched with a sub that needs pushed. I appreciate you watching!

  • I think you would be surprised-the K12's would do just fine with about any professional portable sub out there. Please post an application video of the SRX728 so we can all understand what you mean. That would give your 1 subscriber something to watch as well.

What is it with JBL guys?? So sarcastic and so certain that their stuff is the only way to go.

  • I have K8's. Phenom Bass in Deep Mode. Great Clarity and Nice coverage.

Do you now use KSUBs instead of Mackies?

  • I have a pair of KSubs for smaller venues/events and also QSC HPR181i's for the bigger stuff. I still own the Mackie 1801's but will just be using them for certain events.

  • With a pair of K12's on Deep mode with no subs whats the Max amount of people you can play for??

  • Good question--I think it depends on the venue and type of event. You can push the K12's pretty hard, even when in Deep mode, I would say easily up to 100 people for any type of event. Beyond that if you really need to push, my preference would be to run them without Deep and adjust your main EQ.

  • Rick, I am looking into the k10. I want to hear this bad boy first. hope to see and hear one in NYC in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all your info. Love it!

    Casey

  • i need to get a pair of those soon

  • Nice Speakers, loving the gas lift stands

  • Great video. Thanks for taking the time!

  • are those the speakers that have the locking power cables?

    great video btw

    djbenn

  • Yes, these have the locking IEC style cables.

  • Oh man, yet another reason these speakers rock!! Great vid once again!
