You know what, I'm sure this has been said, but that guy who is yelling at everyone is a total a-hole. "No! Don't play what anyone else wants to hear, play what me and friends want! Oh, but we don't have the full lyrics, the sheet music, or know how to play it on an instrument. But play it anyway!"
He's written over 800 songs. He never forgets any of his sets that he's supposed to memorize, but you can't expect anyone to bring up any of 800 songs, even ones they wrote themselves, on a moment's notice.
Honestly with Jamie... There are many "Holy Grail" songs other than GUAL that we could have played. IJTOTLOMD and YGYLTMS, albeit not so much Holy Grail-esque, would have been epic replacements!Glad we got some GUAL than nothing at all.
Also, I LOVED how the guy in the hat just yelled at everyone to play it (or try to at least) If you listen closely at 0:28, you can hear my lame ass say "I came from Riverside!" as I raise my hand :P
But yes, thank you A6 for getting most of this song played :)
@kiwieata Because at that point, no one had heard Getting Up And Leaving, which has been probably the biggest "holy grail" of unheard Weezer over the last decade. The likes of Lullabye For Wayne and I Swear It's True were released in the early 2000s. Getting Up... remained elusive and Rivers even teased fans by releasing the sheet music on his Myspace. Kudos to Martin, Ben etc for lobbying to get even this much of the song played. We've heard Jamie a billion times.
@paulsmartialarts Great point, except for the fact that it doesn't change those peoples' personal liking of the song. If I came all the way there, I would still want to hear "Jamie," regardless of whether it's been released or not. If someone likes a song and they want to hear it, I see no reason to criticize them for it, unless they were chanting "Enter Sandman" or something.

Seemed like the drums coming in ruined his groove. Watch for yourself, as soon as they kick in, it's lost adn Rivers stops

I don't know... If I had the chance to hear an unreleased song by Weezer (from Pinkerton, even) or a song I could hear at a random Weezer show...
I'd probably pick the former.

Dammit! Why wont Rivers ever play and sing at the same time anymore. He could have performed it himself, I'm sure.
christofski54321 3 years ago
The whole point of this was for the fans to play instruments, suckatash.
runnersdialzero33 3 years ago
Weezer just played a radio show and rivers played guitar on 2 songs.
That could be a sign.
But yeah what runnersdial said.
