  • Thumbs up if you got here because you play Academagia!

  • Wow, a massive improvement on the last recording. I'm curious as to what else this recording could have in the way of improvement because certainly from the listener's point of view, it's fantastic. I was dissapointed to hear the key change when I listened to this version after your first attempt. I'm learning this piece by ear, on violin and it would have been a great help to play along. Could you lend me a hand by telling me the notes to the violin (arpeggio is it?) part in the middle. Thanks

  • This is beautiful but I prefer your first take

  • I have no idea about music but I really love this. I play it over and over countless times while I do my hw and it keeps me focused :)

  • Bravo! Beautifully done!

  • I love the bite to your Baroque Cello...

  • Beautifully done! I'm a Freshmen in Highschool, and I'm really striving to become a great cellist. I love how you played this, and with the baroque cello it sounded fantastic!

  • What a good job you did!!!!!!!...

  • agree with the staccato comment. Your snatching for the notes a little bit too much. Smooth it down and let it flow. But great tone and great effort. nearly perfect :)

  • This actually sounds akin to something you'd hear in the market of the time lol

  • your pretty good i like your first one but u should put that cello with in that one then it be perfecto!

  • your pretty good

  • I believe this is the recording played when you first open Academagia.

  • @link0911ds Baroque instruments are often tuned to an A 415 instead of an A 440. This recording is in the right key, but it sounds about a half a step lower. Whether or not Boccherini used this pitch is a different matter.

  • @cello1753

What? You didn't transpose it to #F major? I AM SO MUCH LESS IMPRESSED NOW.

  • @link0911ds this is not the wrong key

  • Crap I clicked the dislike button by ACCIDENT.

    I'm sorry!!!! I Looooved this.

But seriously, the one idiot that DID dislike it on purpose is a lunatic!

  • Excellent, I like it very much.

  • Gran interpretación ! Felicidades, gracias por compartir.

  • Simply wonderful!

    Thank you for second approach

    Loved both vids!

  • How do i save to itunes? Intense siplicity.. Please advise.

  • hi there, great performance...i'm not a musician but i would like to ask why u think this "take 2" is better than first attempt cause i prefere much longer the other. So can u let me understand the technical reason that make it greater ? I think the other performance has more passion, fluidity and involvement. Thank you for your answer. Antonio

  • Very nice!!!

  • This one is quite good music! HOw did you multitrack the music? Did you use a computer software or just real instruments?

  • Awesome. Probably my fav piece of music. Great performance.

  • Ganz toll, ich bin begeistert. !!!!

  • wONDERFUL. YOU ARE VERY TALENTED WELL DONE

  • I love this, it's one of my favorite pieces and you play beautifully, The second version is very strong.

  • me encanta! 5* ;)

  • Wow.

  • many thanks! It's supposed to be a "problematization" of an artist for my Media Arts Survey class, but my project has basically devolved into a parody of Master and Commander compressed into three minutes :P How would you like to be credited?

  • Hey, I was wondering if you would mind if I used the audio for a short piece I'm doing for an video art project? I would of course credit you and direct people to your page :)

  • Wonderful!

  • awesome improvement with the tempo and audio quality.

just a tip, you may want to try to keep the cello licks within the same style, more legato and connected, less staccato. other than that, i say good job.

btw, your cello has a very nice sound. who is the maker?

  • In this take I was going for a more period style, as opposed to the more modern style of the first take. Naturally, this take does not have the legato and connected style that the first take had. In the first take I used my modern cello, whereas in this take I used my baroque cello. I therefore used different bow strokes on this take for stylistic reasons, and also because baroque cellos respond differently.

  • ah, thanks for the clarification.

where did you go to school?

  • My baroque cello was made in 1753 Austria by a maker called Andreas Nicolaus Parth. I set it up as a baroque cello myself (with some help) in 2008.

  • Sorry, to clarify, my baroque cello was at some point after its creation setup as a modern cello. In 2008 I essentially set it back up as a baroque cello. This involved changing the neck angle and handmaking a new fingerboard, tailpiece, nut, and button (in place of an endpin), as well as carving a baroque style bridge.

  • @cello1753 woooooow

  • do you have any professional training? it sounds great and did you do both instruments?

  • This is absolutely awesome!

  • awesome, great improvement.

  • what are the chord progressions?

  • Do you have the sheet music for this!?

  • No, sorry. I was able to play it by ear since its a fairly simple passacalle, and there is a lot of repetition.

  • Very nice, wish I could do it.

  • "audio only"

    thanks for the clarification

  • WOW! THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!

  • Did you do this? I thought it came straight from the pro's.

  • You must know Purcell's Gig. Think about that PLEASE. You would have so many grateful listeners

  • I don't know specifically what piece you're referring to, but if you can give me further details, I can definitely look into it. Thanks for the recommendation.

  • Heard first take and then went to see what else you had done. Its sums up a great deal. ps enjoyed the Fry Letter Thanks for that too!

  • Quality. You should have gut strings on your violin, the e string is a terrible string while made from steel... hehe.

    But this is great :)

I enjoy it each time I listen!

  • amazing

  • Cello1753, I want to have your children.

btw, did you tune down to an A 415?

  • right on

  • Great piece and very well done...thanks..!

  • Immer besser! Bravo! and thanks very much.

  • I figured it out with your help, and it works fine. Thanks a lot. Keep up the good work!

  • Great work! I love this piece. I play the violin myself, but I was just wondering how you move your bow when you play the parts between 0.50 and 0.60, and at the end? You play really well ;D

  • I start with an up bow on the bottom note of the arpeggio then on the top note I switch to a down bow. I hope that answers your question. Thanks for the comment.

  • What a talent! Many thanks and keep up the good work.

  • thanks for that, it's amazing

  • fantastic. it sounds pretty decent to a none-pro... me

    keep it up man

  • Make sure to watch this in high quality, it sounds much better. Add "&fmt=18" to the end of the url.
