We were PCS'd to Hawaii in '70. The Hale Koa hadn't been built yet. It was still called Fort DeRussy, a vacant plot of land on Waikiki with an old WWII defensive bunker wedged between the Hilton Hawaiian Village and Waikiki Shores Condos. The military used the condos (adjacent the Reef Hotel) as a transient billet until we got permanent housing. Being a freshman, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven living on the beach! It sucked when we finally found a rental house in Aiea LOL
im gonna go here in aug
