Im thinking of purchasing the dawbox.com plans. are you happy with the results my fear is that the recorded vocals will have the dreaded "boxy" sound u get with tight enclosures like this. Is that the case?
Right if i wanted to soundproof my room, would having a wall of that foam stuff do it? Or would i need to cover my wall in something else.
I'm also thinking to do my door too, but don't know what to do with sound proofing a door yet~
So what could i do to sound proof one wall and my door just to stop my parents coming into my room at 2am telling me off for music or being too loud on the xbox,
Nice job ... you might want to try Owens Corning 705 insulation w fabric on top. GREAT for absorption ... also I got a chance to interview a world-class studio designer and engineer ...if you want feel free to check our channel. it's called Secretpros ... make music! =)
hey i have a question i have recently built a vocal booth and i am having some problems i have a pair of headphones that i would like to get in their but the cable is too short can you help me out on this?
@ProgressiveBeats502 I have a long cable extenuation.. or you can hard wire a headphone jack.. you can buy a box to mount inside the booth.. go to radio shack and buy the head phone receptacle hardware then buy a box with a pre drilled hole for the head phone receptacle hardware,
nice bro =] diggin the CAD m-9 tho!! great mic! i have 2 and i use em for everything from vox, guitar cabs and drum overheads and for sampling, but mainly for vox.. those tubes just make the sound!! sweet vid btw!
I noticed the steer on the wall.Yes, there IS vocal talent in Texas. We don't all sound like hicks or ride horses. Can you bust out some redneck on demand, though too? My favorite part is when they say,"Um, we're kinda looking for something more country, kinda trailer-ish..." Then I bust out the accent I've been subtly training for my whole like and sound like I just stepped out of a trailer in the bowels of east Texas. Jaws tend to drop. That can be as valuable as a foreign language, heh.
If you would like that kind of foam, our family packaging company uses this exact type. We have it in bulk so you could probably get it very cheap from us. PM me if you're interested.
@DECIFERTHIS09 yeah I put down a rubber mat over the floor. real porous rubber.. it does the job. although I think a nice high pile carpet might be better.. gotta try it.
Practicing musicians / learners, if you could fill out my easy 4 question survey for my research project it would be much appreciated. The link is in the info of my video called practicing musicians thanks.
Do you have any noise issues with the computer being in the vocal booth. I have a booth that is 5ft x 4ft and will need to have my recording equipment inside, but am worried that the lighting, computer, amp, mic, etc. will produce more noise than if I just recorded with no vocal booth at all.
@TucoRamirez2 the computer is not on the inside. its outside. I run a cable into the booth for the monitor and have a wireless keyboard and mouse. The processors and mixer etc is on the outside of the booth as well. nothing inside but me the monitor which is silent, the keyboard and mouse are both silent as well..
this is the stupidest thing ive ever seen, the plugs, and even better the COMPUTER SCREEN is within the booth....... your not to have anything within the booth besides you and the mic. = crystal clear vocals, u can make one for 150$
nice work! but u shouldv placed all the walls and the ceiling in different angles. cause that is easy but effective way to kill the echos and temporal fusion
need to hire a better camera man, otherwise nice little room for personal use. I'd rather it a little bigger myself for a drum set but not a bad setup regardless.
awesome booth, just a tip though, the idea is to absorb all ambient sound, so theoretically it should just be yourself and the microphone. i would say that the monitor and speakers are going to probably hinder the full potential. but like i said, very well made. i like it! :)
But instead of the music playing . It might be better to lower the volume on the muisc and talk about how you built it. Plus the materials involved. Then the all important bottom dollar price.
no. Its not that expensive. if you are going to get the foam use the wedge foam. its better for deadening the sound of a booth. all the foam I used came to about 140.00 buck total. i used 10 - 12 sheets of 24x48 inch 1.5" thick foam. I had extra left.
hey, i want to find a solution, how to 'hide' singing from neighbours. i mean to lock a sound in some this kind of booth, but u know i think this thing, i mean neighbours would still be hear a singing right?
I don't have the computer in the booth just the monitor. i can control the computer located outside the booth with a mouse, key board and monitor inside the booth.
well. i thought it looked better.. easier to clean.. I did end up putting a rubber mat down on top of the floor...next booth I build I am going to do a few things different.
Hey I just wanna know what size booth is that and what are the measurements...I would like to build something like that in my house..any advice would help me out
I did.. i used a rubber mat. I think the reflection you are hearing is from the ceiling. i have since covered that with acoustic foam. I used pyramid foam. next time I will use wedge foam. they say it makes a difference. i will also double the thickness of the walls.
i like your vocal booth, but it's seems you are using PC speakers, maybe you should buy pc soundcard & studio monitors. except that i really like your studio, can u give me some advice on your absorbers, maybe show us the video that you are building your next booth something. thnx
ok i have the 3 inch wedge foam. the room is covered 100% and i have hardwood floor too so i just spraypainted a 1 inch eggcrate foam black and used it as the floor. its unbelievabe. try ebay for good prices. its your best bet
What I have done since making the video is, I got one of those rubber mats you put together like a puzzle and I put that over the wood floor. Once i covered the ceiling with acoustic foam, there is absolutely NO reverb. it is absolutely dead quiet. The next booth I build will be smaller and I will try using wedge foam so I can hear for myself what difference there is. thanks.
profeesion. but let me give you a tip. wedge foam is 33% more effective and also you might want to take a rug to that floor to take a big amount of reverb off!
