There is one issue that stands out between McCain and Obama and it will probably be Obama's undoing, and that is the issue of raising taxes for the wealthy to pay for healthcare for the poor.
Obama classifies rich as making $250 000 a year or more. There is a reason why people who are "rich" make that much money, and that is because they set goals and work hard to achieve them. They don't sit on there ass all day collecting welfare checks or selling drugs. They do honest hard work.
A person who makes $250 000 a year may be the bread winner of the extended family and thus helps out family members in tough times with their savings. Having worked hard to achieve the sucess they have they deserve the right to be able to look after their family. Taxing them for working harder to achieve sucess and help their family is wrongful punishment.
There is a point where one becomes overly rich, and at that point they should give more back instead of hordeing all the wealth to themselves. That number is definatly not $250 000. That number, in my opinion, would be one where the person could live off investments for the rest of their life, at which point they don't need to work anymore and they are just consuming wealth.

You think that people deserve to earn stupid amounts of money for taking advantage of their privileged silver spoon upbringing and education in business. Well I'm actually Canadian, so I enjoy free healthcare :). I also pay higher taxes than you and have to wait forever in the emergency room to get treated, so I never bother going and bleed it out. The only time I ever go to see a doctor really is for strep throat. Our clinics are first come first serve, and more often than not they are full before they even open. As a result I have gone days with strep throat in tears everytime I try to eat something.
So essentially the rich are not just paying for the poors healthcare, but they are also getting lower quality healthcare, if any at all, and that is just wrong. I'm not rich. I'm not even middle class. If I'm sick I want to get better. I'll pay to get better.
I really don't know how wealthy you are but being in a situation that you can't afford enough sucks.
I live with a single mom and my half brother. My parents were immagrants and they didn't have the education they could have gotten here in Canada. I'm 16, have a job, working my butt off and going to school and am trying to get great marks to be a somebody.

My parents are now upper middle class because they worked to achieve the sucess they have. I live on my own and try to set aside a savings responsibly in the case some bad happens. That responsible savings would cover health problems if healthcare weren't free in Canada, and I would actually get to see a doctor when I'm sick.
This debate is irrelevant however since Obama talked about keeping healthcare privitized. Which means that in order to have it you have to work. If he can make it work hopefully other countries like Canada whose healthcare system is stretched can follow his example and privitize healthcare.

There is one issue that stands out between McCain and Obama and it will probably be Obama's undoing, and that is the issue of raising taxes for the wealthy to pay for healthcare for the poor.
Obama classifies rich as making $250 000 a year or more. There is a reason why people who are "rich" make that much money, and that is because they set goals and work hard to achieve them. They don't sit on there ass all day collecting welfare checks or selling drugs. They do honest hard work.

There is a point where one becomes overly rich, and at that point they should give more back instead of hordeing all the wealth to themselves. That number is definatly not $250 000. That number, in my opinion, would be one where the person could live off investments for the rest of their life, at which point they don't need to work anymore and they are just consuming wealth.

Well I'm actually Canadian, so I enjoy free healthcare :). I also pay higher taxes than you and have to wait forever in the emergency room to get treated, so I never bother going and bleed it out. The only time I ever go to see a doctor really is for strep throat. Our clinics are first come first serve, and more often than not they are full before they even open. As a result I have gone days with strep throat in tears everytime I try to eat something.

I live with a single mom and my half brother. My parents were immagrants and they didn't have the education they could have gotten here in Canada. I'm 16, have a job, working my butt off and going to school and am trying to get great marks to be a somebody.

I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, have kids, splurg, or do anything that is irresponsible finacially. I spent the first five years of my life in a lower class trailer park. My parents are now upper middle class because they worked to achieve the sucess they have. I live on my own and try to set aside a savings responsibly in the case some bad happens. That responsible savings would cover health problems if healthcare weren't free in Canada, and I would actually get to see a doctor when I'm sick.
