  • Ur British :p

    I don't like u

  • @TheBockinator Actually I'm Canadian ... but thanks for your input ...

  • This is how whale watching should be. Engines off, and just let the whales swim past. Whale Wise's guidelines of traveling parallel to the whales just creates more noise and forces the whales to keep going in a straight line.

  • that is amazing

  • I do not like, "Orcinus orca" not in the pool, Ocean is their real home, i like "Orcinus orca", and thanks you, goos luck

  • what time of the year did you go?

  • @yennjarrrrr It was summer when I filmed this

  • I live in the arabian Gulf not much whales pass by here ><...

  • I live near Washington Dc... Not much whale here either! :)

  • Mean lucky people get to see them up close

  • wow. very nice shots of the large bulls. Ks are famous for the big males.

  • wolfcruise is right, they're found everywhere.

LOL at you trying to be all smartass and being wrong =]

Such beautiful animals, i dream about working with them when I'm older<3

  • Orcas are beautiful creatures ...

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Thankyou PaintedBeluga. As the Marine Biologist on board, I am very aware of the guidelines, however they are different to last year, and as far as I can tell whales keep to their own guidelines on how to behave. We are in the presence of the most intelligent animal on the planet, and they are fully aware of their 3D environment.

  • Fed Marine Mammal Protection Act Law states that you:Not approach within 100 yds of a whale. Not place your vessel in the path of oncoming whales causing them to surface within 100 yds of your vessel. Its your business as a tour company to judge the marine mammals course and remain outside that zone. These guidelines protect the boater and the whale and keeps you from violating federal law.

  • Agreed. These boats need to keep their distance. There's some talk that these tours stress the animals and interfere with their feeding.

  • Dude, if these whales wanted to avoid the humans they would have done so without the help of the Fed Marine blah blah law - they are very well aware of their surroundings, plus they are social. In fact i think they intentionally passed by the boats as they knew what they were going to get - OOOOOHs and AAAAAAHs.

  • What so this is the situation: your boat is stopped the engine is switched off, and the orcas approach you.

What are they supposed to do? Turn on their engine, making a loud noise and risk cutting the whales with the prop'? Just so they can get their vessel 100 yards away? Don't be absurd.

The orcas are in the ocean if they wanted to avoid the boat they'd of done so.

  • Beautiful Video. Though I do admit you are too close, but to me as long as you have cut your engine, I am not to bothered by it. I recently had whales pass by my summer home (near where this was shot) it was also very breathtaking, though it was more peaceful as I did'nt have lots of tourists oohing and awing..

  • I'm just glad that all 17,000 people watching enjoyed it! I love sharing this kind of stuff! One in a million

  • actually, now it's 22,915 viewers and probably more in another few minutes! lol! in one week!

  • that was exciting thanks for the video

  • really sweet, wish i was there

  • yes, they have been captured on video, killed a great white, and eating it for breakfast. I did not say they travel together, I said they are the top predator in the ocean! Orcas are found in all seas and oceans, and therefore frequently come into contact with sharks

  • All seas and oceans? Would you find them in the Coral Sea off Australia? I don't think so. They only like cold climates. Are you REALLY a marine biologist?

  • Check any guide or text book you want. They prefer cold climates, but are found in ALL oceans and seas. If you knew your marine biology history off Australia you'd know about a killer whale called Tom. Get researching..

  • a great white and a orca together?????? you on drugs???. orca,s travel in large groups (pods) and would never come into contact with a great white, artic waters and a great white...brave shark. both great creatures though

  • oh wow! their so Beautiful!

  • Top predator in the ocean, but have never killer a human. plenty of dogs, moose and sea otter, even a great white shark, but never a human!

  • They are called KILLER WHALES for a reason, to protect themselves.

  • Thanks Mark. yeah, it was an unbelivable sighting. i'm working on board these whale watching boats every day throughout the summer, and incidents will and do happen every once in a while (to both US and Canadian vessels). My camera will be rolling! Thanks for viewing.

  • yeah, I understand and was fully aware of the offenses ( such as they are ).

Much of the time, it is similar to dog catchers giving tickets/ fines to poodle owners- it is easier to catch those who, for the most part, abide by the law and will hold still while they write the ticket!

  • great video and I understand your excitement. it wasn't as if you could start your boat and zoom out of there in order to comply with the ruling. That would have been made even more traumatic for the orcas.

anyway, it's cool to see these things.

    thanks for the vid.

  • so much for the 100 yard rule you are supposed to follow

  • wolfcruise didn't drive her boat over the orcas: they came over to her. you can't start yelling at the orcas" hey boys and girls, back up as you aren't supposed to be this close..."

    take your preachy attitude outside.

  • if they are moving in a predictible fashion, you have to move. I see the zodiacs pushing that limit all the time. there are 68 offenses relating directly to Canadian Whale watch boats parking directly in the whale's path from july until now.

  • okay.

  • Indeed it was close

  • wayyy to close
