  • @CleesieWeesie The time when writer's used to write from their heart and the artists used to sing from their heart is over. This is the reason nobody can make songs like this anymore.

  • Uma pena ter perdido Karen.

Ela tem a melhor voz do mundo.

  • I love this song. I'm glad such a great person got to experience all that she did before she left us. It was wonderful to have her lul me to sleep as a child every night. She's sadly missed by so many people. Only the good die young. Rest in Peace

  • awesome Evergreen.....

  • the recording of this song was in 1973. but this vidio is from 1976 from their first television speachel

  • Whoa..32 years old is too young to die..coz her dreams and career were not yet fully realized...

  • Karen died of the effects of anorexia - an eating disorder where one starves oneself. I think it affected her heart.

  • I watched a documentary about a year ago and her doc at the time had her on thyroid hormone! Can you believe that? What a moron, giving an anorexic something that will cause her to lose weight! No wonder her heart gave out.

  • Her doc was probably worried her heart would stop altogether from not having any thyroid hormone, and so he was in a catch 22. So it wasn't really that he was a moron I guess, he was probably at his wits end trying to keep her well. It's sad and I wouldn't have wanted to be in his place.

  • i heard in radio!but im not sure! i think, cause of over working or in medicine.

  • anorexia

  • sick!

  • have you ever thought how many times this song was used by English teachers in their class for listening and dictation?

  • wow this is awsome

  • When the Carpenters exited the JAL plane they should have worn those JAL Robes that the beatles wore when they got to Tokyo.

  • Downey was famous for North American Rockwell (where the Apollo Command Modules were built) and the Carpenters, they probably had relatives working there.

  • we diid thiis song iim myy old primary skl iin yr 5 haha kool song =]

  • this song was played at my baby cuzons funeral:(:(:(:( i miss her soooooooo much i keep wonderin wht she luks like nah

  • I adore this joyful song. wonder why they didn't fix the end where the steel and the tambourine are out of sync. It wasn't hip to like them at my age but like Abba, everyone did anyhow. most musicians have both in the cd collections!

  • hahahaha ,,yeah so so so true,,,good one

  • The Star that shines twice as bright only lasts half as long ..and my God did she shine ..Excellent stuff my favourites Solitaire ..Some music was meant to be carved into stone and this will be around a very long time ..God Bless her

  • Great song & video...thank you.

  • i miss her,,she had so much more great music inside and left us way to soon,

  • this was the first song my mom thought me. miss it.

  • this song rules her voice is like an angel...

  • ¡Beautiful voice and beautiful song!

  • She sings like an angel to bad she had a disease and it killed her....STUPID DISEASE!!!

  • You can see that the anorexia has made her way too thin here. oh, what a loss to the world...

  • Awh this song rules!!

  • If Karen was still alive today,I am sure and convinced that she would still be singing - we lost a great, kind and charming singer back in 1983,god bless her.

  • Yes, I would of visited their concerts in a heartbeat

  • I wish she were still alive. The carpenters are my cousins, and I was only 2 or 3 when she passed, god I wish I could have met her.

  • I was a kid when these songs were popular. A friend's family had a player piano with reels for all of the Carpenter songs. She and I would sit for hours, watching the keys and singing our hearts out. Joyful memories. My deepest sympathies to Richard and all of her family.

  • Do you know if Karen was a Catholic? Thanks!

  • I don't know if you've found this out yet, but Karen was a United Methodist.

  • and Church was where she learned to sing, so we have the UMs to thank for The Carpenters!

  • really? ur cousin? cool...

  • wow, I was 8 when this song came out... I remember playing the mess out of the 45... =)

  • Karen had the voice of an angel

  • she certaintly did love samantha

  • This is a Great song

    from:Daddy

  • One of the greatest recordings ever. This is lipsynched, though.

  • It's Beutiful....Angelic.

  • I agree kimkim0923 some of the nice songs are in the past

  • There will never be another duo like these two. Perfect harmonies, great melodies, great production - pure American pop at it's absolute best. Up there with ABBA for well-constructed, memorable pop songs with great harmonies, but a richer, darker sound. That voice.

  • Sad she died so early. She had so much going for her. She had a unique voice. I especially loved this song.

  • one of the greatest and most distinctive voices in pop music. fantastic

  • This was my first 45. Cost me 79 cents probably. Great video!

  • damn u sound old, lol, j/k

  • Missing that wonderfull voice of Karen...

  • <3 the carpenters!! I wish I lived back in those days.

    Music today is lacking.

My grandma would sing some of her songs but I really got to know the carpenters after I watched the movie about her life. T.T

  • How fun!
