@xhappyxlifex Actually they don't use reverse thrusters untill all wheels touch the runway, then they engage reverse thrust. The Engine powering up was probally to maintain the correct descent speed.
It seems like it goes to full power but it is actually the reverse thrust.. I makes a lot of noise. Have you ever noticed how the engine opens a litlle? It helps the plane slow down.
USUALLY lufthansa uses a340 to/from munich and b747 to/from frankfurt...am i right?? could some1 tell me? i've been in both airports (with LH) and it seemed to me..
You are correct. Lufthansa uses an A340-300 or 600 for MUC-LAX and a 747-400 for FRA-LAX. Rumor has it that they will switch to an A340 for one of the two daily flights out of Frankfurt since the second 747 isn't fully booked.
Ich flieg an Pfingsten mit demselben Flugzeug von Lufthansa nach Los Angeles! Ich kanns kaum erwarten!

the sounds is becuase the engine is powering up but its powering in reverse so the engine is actually pulling the plane back tos top it.

If anyone can answer me to this question I would like to know why when an airplane lands, why does it seem that the engines are cranked to full power?

It is right. LH will use A340-600 in summer2009 out of Frankfurt, too. Two of their A340-600 will then meet in LAX ;-)

anush10 2 years ago
@steve90254 dude they switch it up all the time. My dad has gone to EDDF many times in a 340-600 but I prefer 747 all the way ;-)
