All this talk of money and pleasing the crowd is making me weary. Every band needs money to do what they love; this also applies to every occupation. Bands naturally change their style. They play based on what they feel. In high school, I was metal metal metal, then I slowly got more mellow, and listened to other genres. People naturally change. I like how Metallica changed over the years; there's nothing wrong with that.

Sad, very sad, I'm a Brazilian heavy Metal fan to the bone since 1983. _Seing this Metallica's perfomance and being a musician, I really ask myself why they are still so respected? This song has plenty of mystakes in it. Lars is completely out of pace. At some point of the song, they just lost it..and it's not finished. Sad very, sad....

Eh i dislike the vast majority of metallicas music after 89 after their first 4 albums they began to deviate greatly in the general style of their music shifting away from the thrash they earned their fan base with. And while you would think they might lose a lot of fans by going back to roots, there is a reason they play mostly old songs when you go to their concerts. However their old thrash music was not and is not radio friendly but that matters less then ever the way music is consumed today

It's quite clear that all of these bands play today almost only for money but as consumer (not a fan) when I buy some product I expect some minimum quality on it and it's my personal opinion, once again it's personal, that Metallica can't produce a decent product since the Metallica album. Who is the best metal band, everyone has a best band and it's for sure the best. Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, etc, etc, etc...

Going back to their old style would be senseless as they have already conquered that aspect. Its no marketing decision, Metallica hurt not for money, they have the freedom to do what they please. And I love them for the fact they always make good honest music, like the style or not, at least its honest and from the heart, which I feel it is :)

Since Metallica battle against Napster and few years earlier Load and Reload crap I stopped listen Metallica. For a quite simple reason: They forget how to make a good metal song, BUT they don´t forget how to PLAY a good metal song.

Anyway, since I CAN record HighDef videos from TV and Metallica was live on air, I must respect the Gods of Metal and share this. Even I don´t like it anymore, 355 ppl at moment like it and 45653 already watched and these numbers worth everything.

@blackdragonb I dunno bout that. I thought Death Magnetic was fucking awesome, and the four songs that they just released are just as good! They're not outta juice just yet. And besides, I don't blame them at all for suing Napster. The concept of downloading was new at the time, and when you boil it down to its lowest common denominator, downloading is still stealing despite the fact that everybody does it. You can argue that they're "greedy rockstars", but it's their music.
