ok which is it? aligator or crocodile? cus aligators are ones with thin muzzles i guess you could say, and they are said to not openly attack humans like that unless cornered.

If that's what they say, then they're wrong. Gators do tend to be less aggressive than crocs, but both species can and do attack people for territorial or predatory reasons. So your chances with a gator are better, but you wouldn't want to risk it anyway.
