Everyone just fuck off, this is a great thing to know if you are stranded in your car and freezing. I keep matches and a lighter in my car as well as pencils with the jumper cables. If you have a knife, you can even strip the wood from the pencil to create an emergency light from the graphite core.

And it does it in relation to the internal resistance of the load itself and the voltage.

So, when you're rising voltage, you're also rising amperage.

Also, our body's resistance's quite high at LOW voltages, but it drops rapidly with HIGH voltages.

Ergo, everybody should use caution with electricity, regardless of amps;)

This works because the graphite in the pencil is conductive and the wood sheath of the pencil provides a convenient flammable material. I would prefer this method to steel wool, which just seems unreliable to me.
