  • the touch coming out in 4 days will blow all your nokia's away

  • daft punk

  • the archos 605 wifi runs opera which is also much more advanced than the touch...bt the touch is soo slick lol

  • Look the N800 is the bestest (I KNOW it's not a word so spare me)device out of the bunch he showed.

It houses more applications and games, it's small enough and it can even have an interface like an ipod touch.

Now with the release of 32GB SD cards you can have 64GB of storage on the Nokias. As soon as Nokia/Maemo comes out with a firmware update of course. :D

PS Is coffee the only stim in that glass? Your eyes do look rather glossy. ;)

  • My 12" PowerBook is also a Mobile Device and Safari, Firefox and (gak) IE are on it too. I think you're taking a bit of liberty with the term 'mobile device' ... Apple's definition is clearly within the confines of a Cell Phone or Portable Media player. Not just any computer that has Battery power.

  • The competing device I mentioned is FAR lighter, smaller, and cheaper than any Powerbook ever made.

  • Me too :D

  • It's pronounced Nokia...not "know"kia.

  • yeah man but look at the freaking size of that bit*h!!!! iPod Touch has the best internet for its size and capacity as an mp3.

  • hey does the the Picture on the iPod touch screen look as good or better when compared with a zen-M or zune?

  • Im just guessing; but I bet some hacker will give us a fix to the lack of flash problem in less than a month....its just a question of a simple download, no?

  • dude, if you watch the ipod touch guide it says you can search for your favorite videos on the youtube on ipod touch

  • eph1985: You're right on YouTube, but not all the videos are there. Besides, Flash is WAY MORE than just YouTube. Find a major news outlet with video news that's viewable on the iPod touch. I tried. I do love my iPod touch, still.

  • you got the ipod touch already??? hows that possible? i thought they don't come out till like the end of october.....maybe thats just for here in canada i don't know the release date for any other country

  • i got one 2.

  • Sept 28th here in the US

  • It may not be THE most advanced web browser, but it beats the browser on almost every cell phone you'll find. Plus, you have to keep in mind: it's an mp3 player. Name 3 other mp3 players with web browsers.

  • so can an ipod touch go on myspace?

  • yea i belieave you can go to apple store...an try em

  • Pedantic, much?

They aren't going to say "well, the browser is ok, nothing amazing, but it's ok"

Of course they are going to play up what they have.

  • The browser can be advertised exactly as it is - convenient. ;)

  • i can fit an ipod touch and my cell phone in the same pocket try fitting both of your things in one pocket, and its gunna be mainly younger people using the browser and as long as it takes them to myspace i dont think they care how advanced it is

  • Valid point. If they turned on the Bluetooth chip and gave it Bluetooth keyboard support or Bluetooth GPS support, it'd be even nicer.

  • This is off Subject but Opera browser rocks! I've used firefox and still do for some things but most of the time opera works best for me. So check it out. Also it free! at one time you had to pay for it. on there website it says it's one of the most secure browsers.

  • in-case ur wondering...i am kidding. that mobile pc is like the bastard child of a laptop. not big enough to really be useful, but still too big to be convenient. kind of like the worst parts of the ipod and a laptop combined. which is why i see laptops and ipods everywhere, and ive only seen a single mobile pc in person ever...and i work for a telecom where the vast majority of people bring both in everyday.

  • Apple has the marketing strength to bring web browsers to more pockets. The N800 and the UMPC market needs to catch up. UMPCs will get smaller. The Nokia Internet Tablets will get more functional, and over time both will compete directly with the iPod touch plus have an open developer base.

  • hot damn...ur right, that mobile device has a much better browser. fuck the ipod, im gonna get a mobile pc. now if only i had clothes that had pockets the size of my arm to carry it

  • your a dumbass. Your so called "mobile device" might as well be a laptop. The ipod touch is 8mm thin and is a true mobile device. calm down.

  • Did you watch the whole thing, Beeper01?

  • its just a ipod....it still does the things it says

  • dumpete: That's why I am buying one. Like I said: Coolest iPod ever!

  • You know technically that wasn't an advertisement

  • It was a piece of marketing material on Apple's site, so that is advertising.

  • It's a Guided Tour, Thats like saying a tutorial is an advertisement.

  • When it's incorporated as part of a marketing site, it is marketing material thus advertisement.

  • Firstly, the first device you showed is mobile, and so is my laptop, but he was talking about small, pocketable mobile devices, that part was obvious. Second, I'd hardly call the addition of a flash plug-in, suddenly making it more advanced than Safari on the iPhone. What are you going to say if the iPhone gets flash? I'd bet mobile Safari is easier to use too.

  • macflyfilm - The N800 is a pocketable mobile device running on either an Opera or a Mozilla engine. I will have to take them feature-by-feature when the iPod touch is in my hands. Stay tuned.

  • I will, but this is old Nokia fanboy mentality. Not saying you're a fan boy, but if you were to take the iPod feature by feature they'd be dead years ago. It's not the features per-say, but how well do the features it does have work, whether they integrate together, how easy they are to use, and how enjoyable the device is as a result, add to that software that actually looks good.

  • mackflyfilm: I love my iMac Core2Duo 2.0. I love my iPod nano 1st gen. I love Final Cut. I don't fault Apple for what they do - I fault them for how they advertise. For example: they advertised a Spring release of the next operating system to encourage as many "switchers" as possible during the Vista release. Once Vista was out for a few months and they grabbed those switchers, they pushed the OS release back six months.

  • Excellent, you are right, the N800 is a much better (pocket) mobile browser. Also due to its screen size in pixels (800 width).

  • how big will the hard drive be on the itouch? i can't wait, i knew they would take the phone out of iphone

  • Message Pt.1

They aren't talking about flash and other plugins, they are talking about the engine, and Safari "Mobile" uses the same engine as the normal Safari.

And safari is far more advanced than firefox, in terms of web standards. For a start, it runs alot of features from CSS2, (i.e. multi-backgrounds in one element).

  • Message Pt.2 (due to 500 char limit)

Of course, firefox is a far better browser IMO because of the addons for a start, but Apple isn't lying, nor bending the truth, they really do have the "most advanced web browser" on both computers and mobile devices...

  • Excellent comments fLUx. Does the iPhone/iPod touch version of Safari run the same CSS2 features?

By your feedback, I can see how the "most advanced" comment may be technically accurate, but advanced is a matter of perspective and degree. Other browsers are more developed and extensible thus more advanced from this user's perspective and likely from the perspectives of most consumers.
