alot of those modifications are pointless....you dont need sponge on the inside..it will work just fine without it. and you dont need to glue it. id also like to see any proof of brake fluid doing anything at all....sounds like alot of mumbo jumbo to me but to each his own

@dazertwo Sponge is to prevent ink from overflowing while pumping upside down / glue it if you enjoy gluing / brake fluid lengthens the drying time which gives porous and painted surfaces more time to absorb it

@345mik Yeah basically, it makes it dry slow so the alcohol or chemical base has time to be absorbed by the surface and sink in deeper. So, only use it over painted surfaces, glossy unpainted surfaces will cause the ink to drip and stretch, unless u like that!

If I want to prevent leakage of a bottle or jar, I put a rubber band (thin, one or more, small or large, depending on the item) around the threads on the bottle/jar, then screw the lid on. That really helps and it is still easy to get the lid off again. After a quite long while, often when I re-fill the jar/bottle, I see that the rubber bands are getting dry/old and I just replace them. I always use cheap rubber bands, from a something like a dollar store.

that's a really useless modification. if you know how to use the marker and have a basic understanding of gravity it shouldn't leak. If you take the nib out when you get it, you're breaking the glue barrier between the nib and the sponge ring. That's why you are essentially replacing that function by gluing all that crap inside. NEVER take the nib out of the zigs. keep them upright so the glue won't saturate before you empty and clean!

The way I did it works great, its never leaked one drip from the nib or the screw on and its one of the markers I can throw in a bag even if it lands upside down!

for pump markers, if you are using thin paint then you should only use colors like black and silver because those are colors that dont fade when at a thin consistency...

It makes the ink take longer to dry and allows the surface to absorb more ink over a longer period of time. (Maybe a bad idea to use indoors in places like washrooms)
