  • It's beautiful and nostalgic, how could you dislike it

  • Come on BoC...shit Tory government, world gone to fuck....we need some Scot's noodling

  • Where was this performance?

  • 2 people don't see what we see.

  • 0:41 yaayyyyy

  • I make IDM music, it would be great if you guys would listen! =D

  • @musicoutsidethebox Protip. Don't call it IDM, in the uk we don't call it that.

  • @nightw4tchman who cares what you call it... when i say idm you know what i mean and thats the point. and who cares what you call it in the uk? pro tip my ass. more like a tip from a closed mind. you annoy me. whats wrong with saying idm anyway? does it not get the point across......?

  • @musicoutsidethebox LOL I can taste your bile, no I wouldn't doubt for a second that it gets the point across but it shows such underlying bias. The name IDM is rather, shall we say closed minded.. :)

"I just think it's really funny to have terms like that. It's basically saying, 'this is intelligent and everything else is stupid.' It's really nasty to everyone else's music. (laughs) It makes me laugh, things like that. I don't use names. I just say that I like something or I don't." Aphex Twin

  • @nightw4tchman i dont use the namewith a bias. i dont think that music has anything to do with intelligence. the term idm is just a term that everyone knows. i use it to be understood more clearly and its annoying when people like you need to troll around youtube "correcting" people. If anything labeling one term closed minded and another not closed minded is closed minded. and just because aphex said something doesn't make it right. were all only human.

  • The Real Deal.

  • what an awesome version

  • like this pic of them!

  • same here, i want to stick it in my wall.

  • I was reading that BoC are bringing an album out in the second half of this year, one of the tracks is called Isolated receiver. I think there was a bit about it on the bleep website.

  • They have family and young children now, dont expect anything in the near future, Peace all.

  • Douche hahah. Boards are greater than any other abient/IDM/hip-hop/jazz/electornica/trip-hop group ever to exist. Not many of them, huh? How else do you think they are who and where they are today.

  • this is defenitly one of the best songs ever existed

  • hands down their best track

    HAFFF TO SEE THEM LIVE!!!

  • i thought they didn't perform live.

  • These and autechre are the only bands left that I want to see live.

  • this is the only band left that i want to see live... to bad they dont do live shows

  • It's a pity they don't tour. Although I guess it's not music that may easily be 'performed', if at all. I guess just mixed.

  • i really want them live... :( are they maybe working on a new project or something?!?!!?

  • i like their live songs even more than their album songs, because the ambiance of live music just adds to their songs.

  • increible,

  • WHERE TO DOWNLOAD?!?

  • itunes

  • Well, They are completely amazing.

I Love their sound, from the speech samples, to the squelchy melodic lines, to the time stretched drum breaks... all in all its more of an illustrative soundscape describing a mindstate and emotion than a tune. THIS MUSIC is awesome.

I Wish that one day I will see them at a once in a lifetime live performance... look at FSOL playing BLOC...it is possible! peace out from NORFOLK!

  • BLOC was awesome, by the way. I really hope you were there with me when FSOL played! It was such a brilliant brilliant fest.

You see, rumour is the reason FSOL have started playing gigs again is because they've been badly affected by the credit crunch. They make just enough to get by from their albums, so they've been forced into the position of live performance again and they've also started remixing for this same reason (you should check out their 22-minute mix of Oasis's "Falling Down").

  • Indeed I was there!!!

ah, man i was literally right at the front... mind blowingly spiritual experience. FSOL & Scientist were my favourite acts. I actually met hopeton brown man, he is incredibly sound. peace and love ! i shall check that remix and get str8 back 2 u. Peep my videos of bloc :D

it was great wasnt it : ) i

  • I was at the front also for FSOL - played a beast of a set. I was also at Ulrich Schnauss, I should let you know - mind-bending stuff!

  • This song is incredible.

  • they get their name cause a lot of their samples are from the National Film Board of Canada's documentaries on nature

  • I want to see them live, I must see them live!

  • Where did you see them live?

  • Those guys must know everything a bout Synths & Beats

  • is this a bootleg or have they released a live album?

  • this is a bootleg. No live album. They very rarely play live. They like to keep their cards hidden, so to speak...

  • Yeah but with all the illeagal downloading and other factors its not long before theyre going to have to start doing live gigs just to stay afloat.

  • I doubt it, they "stayed afloat" for 20 years without doing live gigs or releasing music commercially (only giving out cassettes to friends and family), i'm pretty sure they can keep it up

  • Makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. :-)

  • sounds much better if you type &fmt=18 at end of link. I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

  • *sigh* crying right now.. so beautiful..

  • you know the part that starts at 545 is in the studio recording right?

  • Yee

  • Does anyone know what BOC are up to now? Are they working on a new album or what? I only ask because, I checked their website, their myspace page and everything and it doesn't really say. Do any of you BOC fans know? thanks!

  • noone knows !

  • One of the brothers has a child, so he's busy with that. Bear in mind they have a huge amount of unreleased material, so always be prepared for another record.

  • I always thought the "choir" sound was the sound of slick tyres on a country road. My bicycle sounds like this when there is enough silence. The gentle alternative to Kraftwerk's "Tour de France". MUM from Iceland are also keen cyclists by the way ...

Looking forward to the BOC cycling jersey ;)

  • Listening to them just makes me feel ok. Hugs from an argentinian guy!

  • 5:45, the best part of the entire album apart from Bocuma in my opinion

  • Agreed, it is profoundly awe inspiring.

  • L O V E !!!

    frome Sweeeden ;)

  • my personal Heroes!

  • sometimes youtube is a treasurey. thats exactly the mix i first heard and fall in love with BOC. awesome!

  • I have always been interested in how they perform live compared to other electronic artists. I guess I'm more interested in what gear they are using.

  • This song reminds me of hell.

  • the choir singing in the beginning sure does

  • Exactly. It's the most evil chord I've ever heard.

  • This is brilliant stuff! I do really love the 5:45 part, they have their own sound, and they craft brilliant melodies and atmosphere with it. Cheers for posting it! Was there any audio visual live? That has to be one of those once in a liftime events!

  • sounds even better if you type &fmt=18 at the end of the link... just punch that in at the end of the link and it'll turn the audio into stereo. You can mark this as spam if you want or minus it, but you won't know if it's true or not until you try it.

    Excellent upload.

  • thanks for the tip!

  • Wow thanks that sounds so much better!!

  • I'm surprised people actually tried it and didn't automatically assume I was trying to get them to buy something. I guess people who listen to BoC are generally really cool :)

  • even the picture quality gets noticeably better! how strange. thanks alot!

  • thats blooyd awesome!

  • @Pyrofries Or just click 480p should do it

  • no matter where i am.. im always riding along the beach head under a sun-swept cloud of seagulls on a fuzzy summers morning. this shit is instant transportation!

  • love boards of canada.

i have a question though. i was reading up on a "supposed" cassette tape by BOC that was released for only a short period of time. its from the band's earlier days and i believe its called, "A few Old Tunes."

apparently there was controversy behind it so the release was not made huge at all...anybody care to enlighten me on this

    thanks.

  • There's loads of pre-twoism boards stuff that was only made on cassettes and given to their friends. Over the years they've all seeped through and got online and people have kept them going round. This track is from the 2001 ATP festival that Autechre curated. I was there and it was the best gig i've ever been to.

  • They actually had a few things they made that wasnt released to the public, but to only friends and family.

There were three volums of a few old tunes, and yes they are like the Holy Grail.

  • masterpeice.

  • Amazing. Awesome.

  • Amazing band..

  • God I wish i was there

  • Excellent!! BOC live !! I want to see this music performance!!!!

  • Sounds incredible! Thanks for uploading it ^^.
