One of my biggest heroes!...His chops were just fantastic...he had style, looked so confident behind the kit, great showman, very tight groovin',awesome fills...a legend, rock in peace, mick!.
ONE OF THE MOST UNDERATED ALL TIME DRUMMERS, ALTHOUGH ONE OF THE MOST RECOGNIZED DRUMMERS FOR ONE DRUM INTRO: THE BALLROOM BLITZ! NEAR TO THE GREATEST 60'S (OF 70'S FAME) LIKE CARL PALMER & IAN PAICE! GREAT MUSICIAN, COOL GUY, SHOWMAN & VERSALITE JAZZY DRUMMER!
I fell in love with Mick's style of playing at the age of 10, when playing "Set me free" for the 1st time, from "Sweet fanny adams" Still my favourite album of all time, and I think 1st LP I ever bought. I had the privilege of seeing him play 3 times, wish I could have seen him in the early years, but was too young. I'll never get fed up with listening and watching recordings of him playing with the other guys in Sweet. He'll always be the greatest.
IMHO Mick Tucker, Carl Palmer and Neal Peart pretty much set the standard for rock drumming for the following 30 years. I think any drummer worth his salt today who doesn't acknowledge Mick as one of of the most musical (think Bill Ward also) drummers is missing out on some really vital influences the likes of which Mick Tucker would provide. Mick was a total MONSTER!!!
Apologies if this has been posted before but "back in the day", you know when real music was made/played by real musicians, I watched Mick's drum solo and was both wowed and humored BECAUSE behind him on a big screen was a video of a giant banana peeling while The Stripper Song (?)played w/ a 5-4-3-2-1 countdown and BAM he exploded and the crowd went ape . THEN he played live to a pre-recorded video of himself , a' la dueling drummers. Truly groundbreaking and original. I love them still.
Mick was the best! I had the pleasure of hanging out with him a few times, not just an amzing musician but a down to earth great guy..It sucks that we will never be abale to see Mick, Brian, Andy and Steve together again....
This goes to the short-minded who consider the SWEET just a silly bubble-gum outfit... even nowadays! Please, listen to the mighty bass lines of Mr. Priest and to not-so-far-from-Blackmore riffs and solos of Mr. Scott!
I was fortunate to have the honour of working with Mick and Andy as drum tech and driver some years back and Mick was a sweet, tallented, intelligent man and could play this drum solo with his hands tapping on a counter in a bar........unbelievable! I played that very kit , what a proveledge. I miss those times and consider Mick to be an very big influence as a drummer and a showman.
damit.... he aint the best.... he isnt close to the best.... he is the best of the best of the best! he is Flipen CrAZZZY! along with yan pace, he was the best drammer ever to live. btw, he is the first drummer to use a double base!!!!
Definitely a way way underrated drummer. It's fine and great and whatnot to play fast etc etc and many drummers do but to do it with *feel* and *swing* is a completely different game. This guy had that feeling, power, speed, groove - just a great player. Bless his soul.
this guy should of got the same recognition that bonham got he had the most unique sound style power little willy was the first single i ever purchased i played it till it became warped and scratched thank god for cds but now this man is gone but we have youtube to keep his legendary legacy alive
he was the king on drumms and he wehre korrekt gentleman and humble.verry nice person and big rock n roll star.he was the king 4 me and many more people in the world.rest in peace mick and brian.....we loves sweet4ever
Yeah he was definately amazing. The only other drummer i can think of that comes even remotely close is Tommy Lee, but he always looks angry while he's playing. Mick Tucker has fun playing, you can tell.

his drum kit was ludwig im sure.

In the early 70's Mick used a Hayman kit. Easy to spot the difference as Hayman kits had round nutboxes which look like the DW kits used nowdays.
