  • The most beautiful this I've heard all year

  • Eh, you have violin talent, but in my opinion the appeal of Peach Plum Pear is Joanna's quirky singing style, This felt empty.

  • is it ok if I actually like this version better than joana's?

  • @Kindahuge Dude, almost every movie, book, song, etc. is based or remade from something else, but that doesn't mean it's not good. And you're calling someone else fat when your username is kindahuge. Bro that's a fail.

  • Foot Feet stepping that beat is incedible came from inspiration from your violin and that dancer you had not placed. Debra Janine Williams

    09/24/1986

  • Scroll back up! You're missing it!

  • Is it cool if i cry every time i hear this??

  • Wow o:

  • the bridge is a killer.

  • love the sock Owen. love it when people with pedals are discrete about it.

  • el violin en el 2:00 te quedo del asco, todo lo demas bien padre=)

  • I rarely like covers and I rarely like covers to my favorite song, but here I am saying I love it.

  • Great cover!!! it's AWEmazing!! makes me feel strangely happy...

  • Owen....you are amazing. I'm in shock. You are so talented. I'm in love with your voice!

  • @Kindahuge dude...i don't care. i like his voice....that is his talent. He sings very well. i don't freaking care that he is singing someone else's music and lyrics...I never said it was difficult to do it. And I wasn't even talking to you. So leave me the frick alone. Thanks. Have a nice life.

  • @Kindahuge No.. actually I'm not fat. I don't know what the hell your problem is. But this is ridiculous. I don't know you, you don't know me. I like his voice. I like the original singer as well. Why does it matter if he sings this song or other peoples songs? He obviously enjoyed singing this song. He's not trying to claim that he wrote this song. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you man. We have different opinions. The end.

  • damn... this reminds me of being 16... i had no idea this was a cover.. i heard their version late one night on a college radio station back in 2006, so i thought this was an original.

  • why would someone dislike this video? there is nothing to dislike about

  • His music is conjuring spirits.

  • i look up to this man now

  • and I wAS BLUEEE!

  • I like the Marilyn Monroe thing going on with his shirt!

  • I enjoy that he looks like he's flying all the way through.

  • the things i would do to owen pallett D:

  • I remember when I first watched this video years ago. And guess what? I STILL absolutely love it-- years later. Beautiful, really.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG AND HIS VERSION

  • so Good , i need to download this to my phone so i can hear it everyday!

  • great things can be accomplished with looping. great depth to the sound.

  • He's coming back to Phoenix with The National and I plan on being there.

  • This is the video that made me a fan.

  • @birdseye90

    orly really mr birdman

I SAW OWEN AND HE WAS AMAZING LOL

  • @birdseye90 me too

    *tears of joy*

  • wow just wow

  • so much better than the original.

  • Absolutely stunning. Great loop pedal work, Amazing musician, a slight breeze of wind from a fan blowing in your face...perfect..

  • wow. that is all i can think of saying.

  • That was awesome.

  • Has Joanna ever done a version with a violin in a live concert? Now, that would be awesome! Why doesn't she collaborate with Owen??

  • His shirt has a life of it's own!

  • please tell me someone's ripped this and put it on mediafire.....someone? PLEASE!!!

  • @TyrannosaurusBizz

You can download his Young Canadian Mothers EP. I bet it's on mediafire...

This song is on there, as well as three others.

  • @estebaneeezy thanks man

  • If You like Owen's cover of this check out another amazing version by the YouTube user "Rob26rj" Go to his channel or find it on YouTube by searching: "Peach, Plum, Pear - FL Studio Remake" It's so worth it!

  • Wow. This is actually pretty good. He succeeded in covering Joanna Newsom in a creative manner. The looping at around 2:30 or so is great. =)

  • That was beautiful, I often wondered what it'd sound like with a guy singing it.

  • this was super nice

definitely a highlight of my day today

  • this is fucking brillant......joanna newsome my secret fairy lover with wings......right on dude........all that beauty is an can be :) made a tear come to my eye...which is a rare occurance

  • powtewt;lwkertorewtkjskgjskjga.

    awesome.

  • dude you gave me a musicgasam!!! <3

  • @PharaohOfTime

    OHMYGOD i always say this!!

this is the main expression i use when i listen to arcade fire. this song is amazing too though :)

  • wooah, super fast :P

i love this, the violin part is really individual.

  • LOVELY!!!!!!

  • 2:00 xD!!

  • so completely unexpected.

owen is incredible, and so is this song and joanna newsom.

    wow. amazing.

  • So awesome! I love Owen Pallet, I love Joanna Newsom, and this song is my favorite by hers. So yeah, I love this.

  • final fantasy + peach plum pear + the sound = awesome!

  • This is great- thanks for sharing! It's one of my favorite songs, too.:)

  • LOVE HIM!!!!!! i love this song! it's one of my faves! and i love final fantasy so it's all good!!!!!!

  • love the violine part

... but my mum seems to hate it every time i play this songs she asks me whether i hurt myself`!?

  • I love it, just listen to them right now from my friend, and it's pretty sick, haha.

  • i strongly disagree to tht start

  • to each their own, Owen Pallet is a lot easier to digest than Joanna so I completely understand. accessibility ftw

  • If he'd been reading off a teleprompter, he would have said "markedly more" instead of "markably" :D

  • oh mannn, he is too good!

  • Pallett is in a relationship with his manager, Patrick Bojhal, not Patrick Wolf.

  • new fact i did a little research. they are an item!

  • He played at Modified Arts?! I am so jealous, that is such a good venue, that I wish I got to see more good musicians in. I'e only seen Razia's Shadow there.

  • i like everything about this cover except for that scratchy bit in the middle

  • dude thats the freakin break down, its the best part

  • it has absolutely nothing to do with the original song. i guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. :]

  • does he go out with patric wolf?

  • no.

  • no they are just really good friends

  • i love it this way

i like how he done it and the video...

  • sounds great. the first time i heard Joanna I was hooked. This is a great cover

  • can't stop watching this...

  • i know the feeling this is probably my 100th time!

  • Comment removed

  • the wind and the shadow make brilliant special effects to this mesmerizing piece

  • i prefer him to the woman

  • simply astounding :) i was blown away by this

  • i cant get enough of this song :)

  • fuckin sick

  • Astounding

  • cool

  • yeah i like more this version

  • I love this more than the original version.

  • :D

    such a good song.

  • Don't really care for Joanna Newsom or Owen Pallett, but this is a really good cover.

  • Ha it looks like hes wearing socks. Hes so amazing.

  • hah, socks...

    what a ridiculous concept

  • Jesus really? I didn't notice the first time round. That's actually really freaky... In a bad way...

  • wuts the bit at 2:01

is it supposed to sound like that .. ?

  • Yes. It's art.

  • Wooooooooooooooooooooooo So beautiful ...

  • What pedals does he use? For sure the looping pedal.

    Any other ones known?

  • I always thought it was a line6 dl4 for looping but not of this evidence. Anyway the looping he does isn't that complicated most pedals can do what he does. The real skill is getting the live timing right.

  • i'm really hooked on this...

  • I feel as though he's just saying the words, whereas when Joanna sings, it seems like she experiences and means every syllable. A lot of people tell me they can't stand her voice, but why? It isn't typical, that's for sure, but that's not a good enough reason to devalue it. I think we need to step back and question our narrow definition of what is beautiful and even normal before we classify her as annoying or strange.

  • yeah no i agree, i really enjoy joanna's voice.

  • Yeah though owen's singing style is also unusual, yet awesome. He usually sings like this.

  • I hate her voice, but, I LOVE IT. Does that make sense? lol

  • Her voice is not what many would call classically beautiful, but it is intriguing and that is why I enjoy her music. I had to get acclimated to her voice at first, but it was worth it. Personally, I enjoy her voice more than the same old vocal acrobatics like those on American Idol and most radio stations where we only value one type of voice.

  • I am hazarding a guess at Antony and the Johnsons. His voice is unbelievable. This is better than the original in my opinion. Joanna's voice is annoying. She still writes beautiful music though.

  • I didn't know this was a good song until he played it.

  • He's amazing for sure.

I saw him a few years ago as a musical guest for Stuart Mclain. I had no idea who he was, but I was utterly mesmorized.

I do have the Joanna Newson album with this song, but does he cover it in an album as well?

  • Why is there so much wind???

    Fucking amazing. Thanks for posting.

  • That venue is really small & gets insanely hot unless they have a fan on.

  • why does everyone who covers peach plum pear sing like their from a shakespear play or entertaining Henry VIII

  • That's just how Owen Pallett always sings. Listen to anything else by him.

  • did you ever think about the fact the many of the people who cover this song are from england? just a thought

  • Comment removed

  • Um...He's totally Canadian...

  • This is indescribably better than Joanna Newsom's version. Gah, how is it that the live version is equally or even better than the recorded version.

    A genius.

  • WRONG!

  • LoL. But her voiceeeeeee. Owen's sounds so much more sincere. Not to mention tolerable.

    : )

  • Owen's voice is undoubtedly lovely, but Joanna Newsom has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. Only Antony gives her a run for her money, in my eyes.

  • im a huge fan of Joanna aswell love her voice whos Antony?

  • Antony Hegarty I assume

  • Beautiful x

  • how the heck is this :D!

  • this is amazing... i love joanna, but i love this too.. it inspired me to play my violin a bit more often... he has a good voice and is very talented.

  • Joanna Newsom is amazing. Your voice is very beautifol. too bad i'm in sylph :/

  • omg this is sooo nice!! :)

i love joanna but this deserves praise!

    xD

  • wow... beautiful

    *sob*

    love joanna too!!!!

  • yes, its supposed to speak to everybody......i think...........i feel

  • stop

    stop and hear the music.

  • original is better tbh.

i can't hear it any other way without a harp

  • but i loved the water run from snow and onward

  • So you can't listen to the studio recording?

  • i was comparing live versions.

  • I adore Joanna Newsom's version, but he does a splendid job on it. To compare the two is insulting. They have their own charms.

  • One favourite artist of today is covering a tune by another favourite artist of today... I am going to vomit with joy right now.

  • thats what i felt when i discovered this version, as if all the musicians somehow...connected

  • hahaha "vomit with joy" i like that one...

    i feel the same way.

well something to that effect :)

i like your taste in music :P

  • LMFAO who cares what the dudes preference is on sexuality.

  • OMG, can it get better than this? <3

Final Fantasy + Joanna Newsom = Win!

  • Obviously. I'm sure he spoke about his wife when i saw him though. Maybe i'm wrong.

  • he's beautiful and yes he is gay, problem?

    :]

this is amazing, his voice and the whole looping the violin, such a clever idea, I've listened to this like 10 times this evenin :]

  • Thats funny, i'm sure he had his wife with him when he played in leeds a year or two ago.

  • oh right, I don't know I'm sure I saw something on wikipedia about him being gay :S

I prolly just skimmed the text tho so :]

  • Wikipedia should never be trusted

  • Are interviews where he speaks about his male lover a trustable source then?

  • Yes he is gay.

  • yes, because this is very relevant to his music.

  • If you listen to his album "He poos clouds" you'll know what's going on..

  • oh boy! duet please!

  • His voice & Joanna's harp

  • this is my favourite venue in all of az! it's awesome that he played there... not so awesome that i missed him.

  • very very cool!!! Should do a tour in Europe ;)

  • the phantom shirt tails cracked me up. great cover, i like how he really made it his own.

  • good an NICE!!! song!!!!!

  • I can't wait until I get to see him :)

  • please just stop comparing them, thank joanna for writing this and owen for playing a brilliant version. joanna newsoms way of playing and singing gives me shivers, touches my heart, owens not as much - thats the only way for me to "compare". but i like both.

  • I love Owen Pallett, and I want to see him live :)

he goes crazy in a sexy manner

    and this man is ace.

  • does he ever come to Milwaukee?

  • so beautiful <333 i lovvveee him

  • in milk eyed mender that is

  • i hope your talking about the recording cos...she plays a harp

  • ya, in the next comment i specified

"in milk eyed mender that is"

  • In most of her albums her main instrument is a lever harp, a Lyon & Healy I believe. She does though play a harpsichord on some tracks.

  • Sorry, I meant that she plays a *pedal* harp, not a lever harp :)

  • Brilliant!

  • <333333333333333333

  • wow..i love this man.i love his music..i fell in love with this magic creature ..

  • I'm in love with this man.

  • he took my breath away

    this is brilliant!
