Phycologists study with the scientific method. Yes, to many see drugs as an easy way out and overuse, but I think it is a little ridiculous to say its a conspiricy to destroy earth. In the right amount and in the right situation, medication helps.
People are also really confused doctors and phycyatrist. doctors give medicine, while phycyatrists give counsiling, which is like scientology, only it involves talking through the problem instead of staring at people for hours.
