What I would like to know is what happens when people of different castes come in contact in other nations where there is no widespread caste system and everyone is virtually equal? Do they still treat one another as they would in India?

Not to sound ignorant, but this also makes me wonder if this is a reason why I've often run into some seemingly arrogant Indian-Americans, possibly because they are used to feeling superior over others... not to mention I've actually been mistaken for one.
