Zombie movies are extremely expensive: To find a good location to rent (typically a city), tons of good makeup artists for the large amount of background zombies (each person taking an hour or so to do), many things to be destroyed, etc. would mean that the show would probably one of the most expensive series of all time.

@LuneyTune72 Actually, George Romero films are considered a cult classic because they had almost NO budget. :3 All of his original films were made in Pennsylvania, with his own personal crew and such. THe zombies in this film were just volunteers with a bit of grey makeup slathered on them. NOTLD was in black and white, so they didnt even need makeup, but it was still just volunteers. HOLLYWOOD zombie movies have a budget. Masterpiece zombie movies don't need one.

The writers for the TV show decided to split the face/howlin mad murdock character here into two separate characters for the tv show....but how times have changed..song did slightly ruin the mood of the sequence...
