  • i hate bestbuy. all i buy r dvds, and theirs r over priced and they dont carry many dvds anymore that i want. which r popular shows. but 2 years ago i bought a camera, in a year it broke. they refund my money in a gift card. didnt want a damn gift card. so then i bought a new camera well 5 months later that broke. so they r like we cant refund ur money and u have to call the camera company. so the company said take it to geeksquad for them to fix. well they couldnt and gave me a gift card. grrr

  • I had recently purchased MW3 for xbox 360 from best buy, and for some reason, it didn't work, even though it was a brand new game. So, I took it back, and they said they couldn't do refunds due to copyright issues, so I had to exchange it for the same game. So, I just tried my replacement game, and guess what? Same FUCKING THING happened! This time, I will DEMAND to get my money back. By the way, there is nothing wrong with my xbox 360, because all my other games work perfectly.

  • yes, real in store tech service is super hard to find. and i call bs on the way they handled the situation, the computer should have been sent out for service to the repair center because none of the "GEEKS" knew how to fix it on site. and once that was done and if there was still a problem then they replace it.. but then if it takes longer than a month your automatically set up for a replacement, least that how it should have happened, sorry to hear about your nightmare

  • I learned years ago to never buy an extended warranty. McDuff Electronics taught me this lesson. (now a defunct electroinic store) I bought a TV from them and when I had them fix it they had it for over 6 months. When I called them to ask how much longer they would just say..."We are using another company to fix your TV so it's out of our hands...There's nothing we can do."

  • Recently my ps3 has been acting up randomly not reading discs and turning off and stuff , ahyhow i took it to best buy and sead " my ps3 wont read discs and i have a warranty , they refused to replace it there and made me let them ship it off to sony to be fixed and here i am 6 weeks later still no ps3 and they refuse to replace it they say oh it will be there soon and they have sead this every day since i called them 2 weeks ago

  • The bigger the company you deal with , the more potential abuse will be served to you.

    People are stupid, they don't understand this simple concept. Big groups of people are designed to run over people. Except in the private sector the big companies pretend to be on the customers' side.

  • SO WE WAITED AGAIN FOR ANOTHER 2-3 WEEKS AND MY WIFE CALLED AND TOLD THEM THAT IF THEY WILL NOT REPLACE OR FIX OUR PC WE WILL FILE A COMPLAINT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND AFTER 3 DAYS WE GOT A CALL FROM BEST BUT THAT THEY WILL JUST REPLACE OUR PC WITH A NEW ONE WITH THE SAME SPEC'S, SO THE LESSON HERE IS WE HAVE TO EXERCISE OUR RIGHT TO COMPLAIN AND INSISTS. WE WILL NOT BUY AGAIN TO BEST BUY A.K.A. WORST BUY.

  • BEST BUY SUCKS. IT HAPPEN LAST SUMMER WHEN OUR DESKTOP PC BROKE DOWN BECAUSE ONE OF THE USB INPUTS GOT SOMETHING INTO IT. SO I WENT TO BEST BUY AND HAVE OUR PC FIX AND IT IS STILL UNDER THE 2-YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WE BOUGHT TOGETHER WITH IT. SO THE TECHNICIAN IN THE GEEK SQUAD CHECKED IT ASND TOLD ME IT WILL BE FIXED IN A WEEK OR TWO. SO AFTER 2 WEEKS I WENT TO BEST BUY TO GET OUR PC AND AS I WAS SURPRISE TO SEE THAT THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE FRNT COVER IS CRACK AND BROKEN.

  • Yeah, Best Buy ripped me off, screwed me over, then handed me over to Geek Squad...who ripped me off, screwed me over, and ripped me off some more. Over 3 months and $1500 later, I still don't have the hard drive from my damaged laptop, that has all my wedding photos and video on it. They suck...BIG TIME!

  • So far, my experience with best Buy has led me to make Dell my first choice for computers. A couple of reasons for that: 1) Alienware for gaming. 2)A warranty that means a replacement even if your laptop falls out a window!

    Anyone who thinks those wannabe know-nothings at Best Buy offer good technical advice ought to have their rights to own electronics revoked!

  • best buy attempted to sell me, who was acting like a total dumbass about computers, a 14 inch laptop previous generation model. i asked for a high end gaming rig that could do 1080p gaming. he said it would do crysis 2 no sweat, so then i agreed to buy it. brought the laptop out, i then shatter his entire story, made him look like a scammer. why try to sell a low end pc for 300 bucks more than sam's club? fuck best buy and especially FUCK GEEK SQUAD!!!!

  • best buy is the worst. i worked their briefly during college and it was just a bunch of disrespect and brainwashing rituals. they dont care about selling products, they only care about selling the warrantees and overpriced accessories. i was taught to tell people that if they buy the warrantee or replacement plans, if anything goes wrong they would be covered. its a total crock of shit, as you know.

  • Oh lord don't get me started on Best Buy. They put me through the wringer. I recently had to take my tower in to Best Buy. They determined it needs a new hard driver. So I forked over 300 dollars to them... They said it would take 3-5 days... Day 3 I call them for an update... They said it would be done worst case scenario late Saturday or early Sunday. Alright... 2 days later I call..... They are too busy to even help me. Clearly agitated I drive over and walk in myself...

  • So I asked them whats up with my computer... "Uhhhh it'll be done later this afternoon. We'll call." Later... Nothing no call... The next day I call them... They tell me it'll be done in about an hour... Later that day... Nothing... Dejavu all over again. Now bare in mind they said 3-5 days and it is now day 8! The next day I call and my computer is done. I pick it up and hook it up... The first thing I get when I turn it on is a disk error...

  • However once I got to the desktop things were running fine. I even played a little World Of Warcraft that night. HOWEVER the next morning every program crashes and I get disk errors out the ass... So I take it back and they are like "Uhhhh it'll take over a week... At this point we don't know what's wrong with it... We don't even know if it's the hard drive." So I paid these idiots 300 dollars only for them to tell me they don't know what is wrong with my computer....

  • At that point I said screw this. I'm going to Office Max... I picked up a new computer... Gave my old computer an honorable burial in the Best Buy dumpsters out back because they were going to charge me 30 dollars to have it recycled... Oh and Best Buy wouldn't even give me a refund for the "services" So I took the new computer to Best Buy to be optimized and have my antivirus installed and whatnot because I figured the services would be free so why not use it.

  • 9PM that night I get a phone call from Best Buy and they tell me the graphics card is bad on this computer and it's not displaying anything. The next day I picked it up and took it back to Office Max... Well guess what? They hooked it up to one of the display monitors and THERE WASN'T A DAMN THING WRONG WITH IT! At that point I stormed out... Popped in my twisted sister CD in my car... Played "We're Not Gonna Take It" And stormed into Best Buy.

  • I went past the retarded monkey cage that is the Geek Squad and went to the head honcho of the entire store and I blown a gasket... I never flipped out so badly in my life. I must've said every swear word in the book. I broke the guy's will though. He gave me a full refund... I took my money... Flipped Best Buy the middle finger, Knocked over a Twilight Cardboard DVD display... and paid Office Max to optimize my computer. This computer has been working since! Best Buy Sucks! FUCK THEM!

  • @euroblaze--After yesterday, that is the same attitude I have. Best Buy used to be (possibly) one of the best retailers out there. Now, it's only a reflection of what it used to be. The people who work there are either clueless or just downright nasty. What kind of a NAUSEATING (best buy) FUCK asks a stupid question like, ''what do you need it for,'' over a CD cleaner? Best Buy has always sucked for computers. Now, they flat out suck period.

  • I hate Best Buy. I don't know how they stay in business when Walmart has such a better return policy and lower prices.

    I got hassled tring to return an HP computor at Best Buy. It took over an hour for them to refund my money, and only after a long arguement.

  • I think everyone should learn to start building their own systems or at least find a connection to who knows how too. The combination of cheap to free internet,stores specializing in just computer parts,shipping services,and the fact that systems are more easy to put together these days,best buy is rather obsolete.

    I just got kicked out of my local one. I went in to buy another hard drive for my PS3, so I was talking to the clerk, and I was looking at getting another computer. Well I was talking to the clerk and I was about a aisle away from the Mac's. Some guy and his husband were looking at Macbook airs, fine. So I was explaining to the clerk to what I wanted and we got talking about different specs.

    This asshole with the Mac's then charged right over and kept telling me I should buy only Mac's. I told him I wasn't interested with Mac's, and went back to what I want. He got all pissed off and claimed I was bashing Mac's when I wasn't even talking about Mac's period, he told me I had to leave the store. I told the guy it's a free country, I can do what I want. I wasn't bothering him, so leave me alone. He then grabs me trying to force me out, so I put him in a wrist lock.

    It was then, I told him to leave again. I let go, and he left saying how he cost Best Buy a sale. Then the best buy manager came to me and had security boot me from the store.

    Fuck you Best Buy, I was going to buy a new computer today, but they kicked me out for DOING NOTHING.

  • Its even harder to be a geek agent who is told to do things BestBuy's way which is to bone its clients. I am soo happy to be working in an intinitaly smaller tech shop now where we do what it takes to satisfy the client. Best Buy constantly said to me "The Client's time is more valuble than your time". Bullshit! That sure does not explain how long it takes to get something as simple as a bloody laptop drive when their shit'n 'em outa their ears on the self. PSP is a waste of time and money.

  • Best buy sucks, yes. But for your reasons, no. You were too passive. The geek squad guys you were talking to at their desk are there to push sales of geek squad services. When you buy the warranty, you should have known that you were buying it for things you cannot service. Cpu, mobo, keyboard, touchpad, a non user serviceable part. What you should have done is have them send you a HDD like they send out laptop batteries or chargers.

  • the warranty says if they can't fix it they'll replace it. Your situation sucked because they had the part backordered and you just had to wait a long time until the product was off backorder. They couldn't give you a new computer because they COULD fix it when the new hard drive came in. Yes you were stuck in an unfortunate situation of waiting but you can't hate best buy for following their policy. It's your fault for not understanding the full terms and conditions and buying a shitty computer

  • I had bought a sony laptop from my local best buy and the advanced protection plan proceeded to drop it on tuesday before finals week and the back light went out...took it back to best buy and they said 3-4 weeks...next week being finals week i was pretty upset but fortunately i kept my cool and maybe didn't piss anyone off and got my laptop back friday morning! 2-4 weeks turned into 3-4 days. AMAZING

  • The Geek Squad Black Tie Protection thing is a load of crap. It's just a way for Best Buy to earn profits. It *does* come in handy though because I once cracked my screen for my iPod touch and they actually gave me a new one... but I'm sure corporate wants most employees to weasel out of it. After all the only reason they are persistent with the black tie and buy back is to get more hours. Yep, Best Buy gives 4-8 hours shifts a week unless the associate sells.

  • I really hate BB. One time I ask them for a Zune HD protection shield thing for it. He said we only have 1 left. Then I walk around the store and I see like 8 left.

    Plus, he didn't really hit his main topic which was why best buy sucks. He bought the computer from them, so I would assume the customer service in the computer department wasn't that horrid and he failed at his attempt to explain why their extended warranties suck because best buy doesn't have extended warranties, its their own warranty. but i will say that the Geek Squad there needs some readjustment. I will give him that one.

  • @JeRaLLdoH my experience with Best Buy/Geek Squad has been fine thus far.

  • First off: I think this was a geek squad not up to par. If it was showing bad HDD then they should have sent it out right away to the service center if it under one year or black tie protection plan. On average it should have taken about 3 weeks to have it sent, repaired, and then back again.

    Second of all: Reason they can't give you another HDD off the shelf is because the store will take the hit when it comes to numbers. The only time they should repair it in the store is if the customer...

  • @retoupin I currently work for the State of California. We use HP computers for our organization and we have what's called "Level 2" technical support. We can acquire replacement parts in no more than 48 hours. The hard drives we receive are OEM and preloaded with factory software just as if you had taken the computer out of the box for the first time. Back-order Bulls*** - I can do what Best Buy says they'll do in two days. Best Buys warranties are as useless as their employees.

  • @DJTright No kidding. I think they only hire tech people who failed IT courses. I rebuilt a laptop the other day....an hour. Rebuilt a desktop. Half a day (including time to shop)

  • @DJTright for sure they are useless. i was pricing a mouse the other day. Over heard a conversation a clerk was having with a gentleman. He was looking into a HP computer and, the clerk was rather rude telling him to read the book. it was the statement next that threw me over. "you shouldn't buy HP computers because they are going under!" funny part, that same day hp announced they are keeping their pc wing. not a doubt in my mind hp would still support their customers for a up to 4 years.
