Wow...man if I could do it I would make anyone who had an abortion or partial birth abortion a sentence. Probably a good 35 or so years for abortion and a good 50 or so for partiel birth. -_- murder is murder. Partial birth abortion is already banned. It's a hollow bill. And the reason the companion bill didn't pass is because REPUBLICANS broke the tie bar and tried to then add it on to legislation that had nothing to do with abortion. If the Republicans would have left the tie bar in place we wouldn't be having this discussion. But they sure as hell got out of session and had their press conference. Who's really standing in the way of the last bill?

"Dilation and evacuation" is the actual name of the procedure that most closely resembles what she's talking about - and it's not performed electively (nor are any late-term abortions). They're only performed after a miscarriage has already occurred, or to save the life of the woman. One always has to marvel at the arrogance of anti-choicers who fancy themselves more qualified to make medical decisions than doctors.
Partial birth abortion does exist, the medical term for it is "intact dilation and extraction". The ban has a "life of the mother" exception even though it's never needed to save the mother's life because the baby could be delivered early and put in an ICU. The vast majority of them were done for purely elective reasons.
