  • I done this quite a few times, it's real on the SNES copy. Did not know this was a secret room though just a place to get a ton of rubee's now I know was some kind of deal.

  • Strangely enough, no one has ever been able to produce the actual issue where Chris Houlihan won (and every NP is available online through one means or another). Obviously the room itself isn't a myth, but the legend behind it probably is and the most likely explanation is that Chris Houlihan was a translator for the localisation team and decided to put his name in the error room.

  • It's true i read that Chris Houlihan won a prize and they make his room in the game

  • Chris Houlihan Will Sue! lol j/k

  • I got a doubt... where can I buy those games inside my wii & what do I need to buy 'em?

  • It says "Keep it between us, OK?" xDD

  • and dude whats up with your cam??

  • with a name like that no wonder it's hidden :P

  • The trick works. I just did it on my SNES cartridge copy of the game after I watched this video. The trick (as far as I can tell) is to not waste too much time and keep dashing with the Pegasus Boots to go as quickly as possible from the Sanctuary to the eastern part of Hyrule castle where you find the secret-entrance bush.

  • I went snooping online after this and discovered that the trick to reaching this room has to do with your position when changing screens using the Pegasus Boots. It's a little complicated so I'll simply direct people to LTTP's gamefaqs page if they'd like to do it for themselves.

  • I was able to find this once, on the SNES, by accident, haven't been able to replicate it since.

  • @filodipicori there are multiple entrances to the room, apparently.

  • @filodipicori Same here dude. I was kinda surprised when it happened hehe

  • What the... Is there something special you have to do to get that? Cause that is the bush you cut for the same hole in the beginning, where your uncle dies.

  • @Minecraftian1379 Did you see the two spots where he dashed into a wall? You have to do that first.

  • for some ppl who are dumb:

this is a sort of easter egg(SORT OF, NOT THAT IT IS A EASTER EGG)

  • Who was the first person to discover this?

  • The enemies keep getting in my way and keep me from being able to use the boots!!

  • At least he didn't say "Keep it a secret from everybody!"

  • Wow! I really thought this room was a hoax until I saw this. Thanks!

  • @jeommp me too, i stumbled upon it while i was playing as a kid, and i never knew how to trigger it, i thought i had dreamed of it.

    but hey! it's here!

  • @waze3174 wow!

  • Ahhh, i sooo miss the 90's :'(

  • i play this game online so i might not be able to find it but i'll definitely try

  • I remember finding this room by accident back in the day while playing SNES. I was so confused. I didn't know what happened until sites like gamefaqs.com were created a few years later.

  • @RandomthoughtsMaster

Edit: I didn't know of this way to get into Chris Houlihan's room, I ran a different way and went in a hole under a different bush, haha.

  • @RandomthoughtsMaster me too, found this room in a very different place's all over the world, seems it's random.

  • 02:08

  • Ahhhhhh, this video explains a lot. I always thought 'Who the hell is Chris Houlihan?'

Now I can finally live forth.

  • Can i do it on like GBA? cause.. i can't get to it...

  • first time I ran into this room i was like :O

  • What issue of Nintendo Power had this contest? I own issues 17-100 and none of them have it.

  • Hey I remember that room. I was just messing around and stumble upon it by accident. :)

  • YOU FAILED TO KEEP THE ROOM A SECRET AND AS A RESULT SOME VERY POWERFUL PEOPLE FROM NINTENDO ARE GOING TO ARREST YOU

  • @katsumorymoto STFU NERD

  • Am I right in guessing that the way you went through the forest had something to do with the room appearing?

  • i pooed on chris houlihan's car when he was 18.

  • This shit is real. Stop being butt hurt little faggots. Google it for christs sake if you think it's fake. Always research before you bash on someone, ignorant brats.

As for why, make sure its NOT a copy of the gba lttp. As the uploader says, it was removed.(people say it is there, but I have yet to see it in the gba myself). Also, the room was a failsafe. It sends you to the room when something in the scripting goes wrong.

Uploader did a good job, have my thumbs up.

  • wow this made me research, i was about to say WAD INJECT because nowdays who knows if it's a modified ROM, though the posts were dated so old its believable.

  • Turn off dat 16:9, son.

  • @ainsleywalker The next time I see someone posting FAKE or the like on here, I'm removing the comment and blocking that individual. I am sorry if you can't figure out how to do it, but that's not my problem. Download a guide on Gamefaqs that tells how to do it, as there are such guides there. And if you still can't make it work, feel free to pop in here and let us know how lame you are for failing and then cart off to your room and wallow in your own ignorance. Just don't accuse me of fraud.

  • @AtlasShrugg3d FAKE, nah jk ;-)

  • @ainsleywalker The room is definitely not a fake, I've been in it before. Yes, it is tricky and must be done a certain way, but I've seen it.

  • @ainsleywalker

This is only in the original version. They took it out of the Game Boy Advance version.

  • I always wondered who Chris Houlihan.

  • won't work on my rom.

  • fake i have it on my wii and did exactly what he did from wii start menu and it wont work for me and I'm up to Ganons Tower.

  • @Riftkidthewizard dude, it's random, try again... and again and again and again xD

  • @alex3087 You're right, the room can appear in 5 different places of the game so that's probably why its not there everytime.

  • didnt work on myy snes and have you ever been told you kinda sound like napoleon dynamite?

  • @grunnymax123 EAT THE FOOD

  • will it also work on my Snes?

  • @TheFoebe yes

  • @Kizuii i will try it :) thx for the info :)

  • Gamers in the U.S check this out

    /watch?v=EHlznIsL2RA&feature=feedu

(i know im spaming but its for an good cause)

  • What a lame prize.

    :/

  • @Patronaros It's actually really cool. His name will be known to gamers for years to come. XD

  • why doesn't this work for me?

  • @batursi It does not work in the GBA version.

  • i wonder if chris found his secret room on this game.

  • I wonder what these guys who won these contests back in the 1990s that got their names or characters into the games are doing now. I also wonder if any of them remembers entering and/or winning the contests.

  • should i get this game or majora's mask for virtual console? i've played ocarina of time and loved it, but i haven't played MM or LttP. Please help me decide! :D

  • @ZeldaMarioHarry8 I say MM, it has great sidequests and in my opinion one of the best Zelda games ever

  • @ZeldaMarioHarry8 MM is very confusing I liked it better but most people prefer LttP /:

  • It sucks that they made the resolution so squashed-looking on the virtual console.

  • @purvicide

It's only squashed-looking because of the TV's aspect ratio. It can be changed either in your own TV's settings or the Wii's settings.

  • @HiphopNila It was never released on the Nintendo 64. It was only ever released originally on the SNES, then later on the GBA, and finally on the Wii Virtual Console.

  • @AtlasShrugg3d couldn't u play snes games on n64 i dont know cuz i wasnt born at that time

  • @AtlasShrugg3d and now in 3DS :D

  • @AtlasShrugg3d sorry guy but this room is not on the gba

  • @AtlasShrugg3d that is true, it wasn't released, but there is an unlicensed product called Tristar 64 that did allow you to play your SNES games on your N64. I think Link to the Past may be one of the ones that works on it (since it's not an official product, some games don't play right, or even at all). Personally, I wouldn't count it as an add-on, but it is around and I've seen videos about it on youtube in people's collection. I wouldn't trust it either!

  • @AtlasShrugg3d Shigeru Miyamoto wants this on the 3DS as a remake so that should be awesome:)

  • @AtlasShrugg3d I PLAY IT ON MY PSP ALL THE TIME yeah really i have an emulator since my GBA is fked up

  • @AtlasShrugg3d How do you get it on the wii? I wish to play this game once again.

  • @JustToCommentOnStuff You can buy it on Virtual Console for 800 Wii points.

  • @HiphopNila your a dumb ass

  • @HiphopNila fail

  • @HiphopNila Herp derp...

  • @HiphopNila Bro your thinking of either The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time Or The Legend of Zelda: Majoras mask! Those games rock anyway!

I have em as emulators on my Computer

  • Why they removed this from future versions of the game I'll never understand. What was their thought process? Poor Chris. :(

  • It's not really secret in itself. The Chris Houlihan room is an error handler, such as when you fall down a hole and the game doesnt know where to put you. Chris Houlihan was a kid who won a contest in some wierd Nintendo Zelda contest, and he was to appear in a future Zelda game. Well, he did, but no one saw.

  • I remember On a site someone said that the name was the name of a game designer who was involved with this project but now i know the truth!

  • You broke your promise and have shown Chris Houlihan's secret room.

Now he will haunt you in your dreams and you will be cursed forever.

    You shouldn't have done that...

  • I remember finding this room a long time ago, just never knew what it meant til now

  • hehe, it is funny, you are jealous of Chris Houligan, but anyways, never found this room, why does it go there and not the basement of Castle!!!

  • @AllHailKingKurt read description

  • @AllHailKingKurt ignore my last comment about description, when you start game, start from sanctuary and get there as fast as you can

  • @Vgamer311 I seen in some other videos that it is posible to bomb into this room, especially from the graveyard that is next to the sancutary, this room is here in case the game glitches while entering a new area, correct?

  • @AllHailKingKurt All I know is what is shown in this video, sorry.

  • @AllHailKingKurt correct, I just found out that speed is not a factor, only that you enter a room incorrectly. bombing works because it causes the player to fly too far into the room.

  • who is Chris Houlihan?

  • i tried it, but it took me into the basement of the castle and i play it on the origional snes

  • @turtelman1234 you probably just need to go faster because I tried on snes and it's real

  • @Vgamer311 If you are to fast it's very likely that you won't be able to enter it either. It's best to crash against a tree or fence on your way from the Cathedral, just like AtlasShrugg3d did it.

  • @Vgamer311 yeah when i watched this, i didnt know it had to be when you start from one of the spawning areas, so i remembered it while in the midddle of playing it so it was long gone by the time i got to it. i thought he was using the boots because he was being lazy

  • 54 other people entered the contest but didn't win...

  • Isn't that hole leads to the castle?

  • Well, I'd rather have a recording like this than 240p...

  • i had this on gameboy :)

  • when it says "You Will Need The Classic Controller" does that mean the gamecube controller. i want to play with the gc controller

  • @JamesStewartRider You can use the Game Cube Controller. I use it all the time.

  • @JamesStewartRider yes it does mean gc controller

  • lmao.. chris houlihan is not my name :3a

  • WII = Virtual Machine for all the games of nintendo :)

  • i still have my super nintendo with the legend of zelda and many other games... i even still have my original nintendo nes system with games... both systems work great, just have to blow into the games every once in a while. those are the two best systems, in my opinion.. so many good games... they just don't make them like they used to!

  • Awww, they took away the seizurific beginning! Usually it flashes really brights lights 8D

  • Would you just PRESS A? ;D Haha, just kidding.

  • I still have my old SNES with thiis game :) everything working, the only problem is that it wont save anymore :X

  • @trozte sad, i have it too but mine still works pretty well.

  • @trozte lol, my problem is just the opposite... my snes won't turn on, but my game is just fine

  • I won the trip to paris that nintendo power had in like issue 106 or something. The tour guide was hot as hell!

  • chris houligan

  • 2nd best zelda ever (1st is ocarina, 3rd is minish cap)

  • Man do I miss the days when I was younger playing this at my cousins house :\. You never have quite the fun you did when you were a young child.

  • @n01dentity Very true

  • I'd never understood the wii.

My question is. How many snes games can fit in the wii system?

How u sync them in there?

  • If I would have won, I'd name it "Hugh Jass" or "Mike Rotch"

  • YOU TOLD THE SECRET JERK!

  • If I won that contest I would have said my name was "John Galt."

  • Chris Houlihan, you lucky bastard.

  • 5 rows of 9 rupees each, huh??

  • quien diablos es chris houlihan?

  • I already knew about the room, but cool vid, none the less.

  • nice quility 4 direct capture

  • I remember finding this as a kid and wondering who this Chris guy was. Now I know!

  • 1:35

is it a pennis? I thought this was the secret when I saw the video image. Obviously, this videos got 2 easter eggs so.

  • LOZ TP is in the console and he plays ALttP. Classic gamer technique.

  • algo bn

  • i did this on the gba on my fist time playing it and i'm like " Wow i succeeded in life "

  • Hardly anyone believes me, but I did legitimately stumble upon this when I was a kid back around '95 or so. I can find the Houlihan room but I still can't find a damned Shiny Pokemon to save my life.

  • fun easter egg

  • I found that room but it was in the fairy fountain where you fall down

  • @bapmike2010 When i went down i landed in a tunnel

  • I tried finding the chris houlian room but I just ended up back in the castle basement like in the beginning of the game. Do you have to do it at a certain time in the game or something?

  • @forman337 You have to run as quickly as possible from the fortune teller in the northwest (or apparently the Sanctuary) to the castle basement hole. It should work anytime after you get the running boots; you can't get there quick enough to trigger the secret room without them.

  • i have more hearts than u

  • Oh and, 44 people entered the contest and lost.

  • I'm gonna add Chris Houlihan on Facebook.

  • Why did they make Chris Houlihan so hard to find? He won a contest to be in the game. Why didn't they just name him one of the random people in Kakariko Village? I would be dissapointed if I were him, (and yes, I found the room).

  • it makes me wonder what christ houlihan is doing with his life now

  • @8peregrint8 better trying doing a search on the internet and see what comes up

  • Yeah,I just finished this game on the Wii's virtual console today, took me 6 days...can't wait to get Wind Waker

  • @Spectermon it took me 5 and a half hours, and I got 100%

  • @NitroAwesome Yeah, but it was my first time playing ever, and it was my first ever LoZ game I've ever played

  • @Spectermon Oh haah well it was an awesome game

  • appaernently Chris Houlihan read the nintendo magazine almost all the time... maybe thats another way he won?

  • wow i didnt know about that.....cooooooooool!!

  • is this room true. I don't believe it. I have been in that hole many times but I didn't find that secret room. I think this is fake.

  • So yeah, the thumbnail and at 1:34, its a penis with balls ramming the house vagina and the trees are her spread legs. Oooooo yeah. Dirty minded ftw.

  • 01:00 0:11

    Start Wii Menu

  • it be so much more badass if you has the snes

  • the chris houlihan room is in the gba version

watch Zelda Link to the Past Changes from SNES to GBA part 3

    watch at about 9 30

  • I tried that and never got to it. How wierd. In any case, I could use a bit of help as well on Castle 7, I am stuck in the room with the four torches to open the door. Any way to get it done without wasting magic time and time again?

  • @Ak1zu Snes - Super Nintendo Enteriament System or somethining this way.

  • Of course it's not in the GBA port, but I bet if Chris plays this game today on SNES, emulators, or the Wii, he'll recall his pride for winning the Nintendo Power contest, which earned him his name in that room.

  • It doesnt work on the gba version

  • Wow, who buys NES/SNES/N64 games when you can use an emulator??? Just kidding. xD

  • I can't find my snes tape for this =[

  • Wow!! I never knew about this all these years!!!

  • i once found a bag of magic in this game but then i dint save it. so the next time i played i tried getting it agian and never found it :(

  • @MrThisucks You don't find it as much as you get it as a reward for a very small quest. When you find a mushroom in the forest, if you take it to the witch stirring outside of her cottage, then come back later to the cottage itself, a bag of magic will be there for you to take.

  • @MrThisucks U gotta give that witch lady that mushroom u find in the woods

  • @MrThisucks

i had the same problem, but i was a stupid kid :D

  • @MrThisucks lol ur funny

  • Another top classic ruined by the wide stretch. I'll stick with the tried and true!

  • @Red8055 Or you can just configure your settings to show it in the original ratio.

  • @AtlasShrugg3d Not to mention the shitty input lag because you're playing it on an HDTV. Yes, the Wii doesn't convert the signal on LCDs to avoid input lag, despite being a 'current' console. It's awful.

  • @Red8055 IF YOU CAN GET THAT ANCIENT SHIT TO WORK BE MY GUEST!

  • @PlayerHater412 I'm your huckleberry! Square pixels FTW ;-)
