Thanks to guys like this people are applying treatments for burns that have no basis in science or medicine. Perhaps the "chef" might like to explain how the "protein" in sour cream helps a burn. The guidelines provided by the expert burns community weren't dreamed up over a cup of coffee. Instead they are derived from years of experimentation and study. The Chef should stick to what he's good at and leave medicine to those who know what they are talking about.
It is very important to cool the skin as much as possible for at least 15 minutes right after you burn yourself. DO NOT pop the blister. It is not necessary to put antibiotic ointment on the wound until the blister has popped, but the longer you can keep the blister intact the less scarring you will have. Keep it covered. After any open areas have closed then you can begin the Vit E to help with the scar..
It really does help a great deal to put cold water or anything cold on the burn immediately as it keeps the burn from getting worse. I could go into a huge scientific discussion on it but that would be too long for here. It cools down the skin and takes the heat out which prevents the burn from worsening - it is an important step.
I really appreciate how you talk about things beyond food like creating and controling the atmosphere in the kitchen with an aroma or home remedies. You just seem like such a wonderful person! :) Hope all is well!

i used burn ointment before
and it hurt even worse
and made it bubble.
best thing to do if its on your
fingers is
wrap them in ice.
it feels so much better and it helps
treat it.

the aloe vera helps, all the rest just feel good because it's cold but it doesn't do a thing.
go to the pharmacy and some ointment.
don't burn yourself!
