I met him the other day at a public appearance. He was very humble and very personable. Everyone around him had smiles on their faces. He signed a photo, my cap and my jersey, plus he posed with me for a photo. Truly a great guy.  My favorite Saints player of all time (and I've been following the team since the mid-80's).

@mrspugs - you couldn't be more right! i was working for a local non-profit in 2002 and asked him (at an autograph session of all places) if he would volunteer a day playing golf for united cerebral palsy of new orleans. he accepted and had a BLAST - the tournament was all costumed women with day long access to alcohol ferried across the course by "hunks."  michael was our volunteer hunk and ever the humble gentleman. he makes me even more proud to be a saints fan.

I have ALL of his games played with the Saints on video, but my most prized possession is his Pro Bowl shirt he sent to me on his return from Hawaii. How special is that? 10 yrs. of a blessed friendship!

Mike is at home in Louisiana and spending time with family in Texas. He is not playing at this writing, but that doesn't mean that he won't be playing again. You WILL be hearing from him very soon. I talk to him at least once a week and trust me - he is fine - in excellent health and he will be back!!!
