@LSU014 i was thinking that to myself as i was watching the highlights, then i scroll down and saw your comment. would be nice to see them in gold jerseys again tho. what you think about changing to black helmets tho?
Michael Lewis was a "walk on". No previous football experience, and he did an INCREDIBLE job for our Saints! Thank you SO much Michael for everything you did! He's another one of my favorite Saints players!
@o0xst This the Ojays and they are in the rock and roll hall of fame. This song has gone multi platinum. And if u listen to this song there a great message in it.
This bigweb guy is a fucking joke, I'm white, born and raised in Louisiana (New Orleans at that) and I've got to say this guy is a brainwashed fucking moron. He honestly thinks the KKK will rise? HA! Dude out of all the clans in the U.S., the KKK has to be the smallest, good luck trying to rise up over the entire African American population, the govt., and all the other races (including whites) who won't tolerate your racist, fake Nazi bullshit.
@beastage25 u kno what i was wondering y u cursed me out but i was trying not 2 say anything but i was itching so y in the hell u cursed me out i didnt say shit asshole.
@bigweb21 why the fuck would i wish to be a nigger? the white man founded this country so you should get out of it. kkk should be in control of government bc the country wouldnt be in debt so much with all the niggers andd mexicans collecting unemployment checks.
@beastage25 4 ur information white people didnt find this country Indians did and another thing there were way more black people in the country when the whites came dumbass so go learn something in history class. did u forget that u guys brought us here now u want us to leave because we r the most dominant raise in America, this minus well be our country we r the best in every sport football, basketball, even baseball. and my president is black niggaaa!!!!!!!
i play golf with this guy all the time. he acts like he is better than everyone else and thinks he can beat anyone at any sport. typical professional athlete
@beastage25 if you feel this way about Mike, why do you play with him???? And just a little input from his longtime friend - whatever he chooses to do, whether it be football, golf or any of his many charitable functions - he IS THE BEST THAT HE CAN BE and he has beat all the odds in his lifetime.....read his book !
I think he is a great player - He is a member of the Who Dat Army 4 Life! Saw him in Jackson Ms a few months a ago - he was a bit distant but it was still a honor to see him. WHO DAT!!!
Met him today in Shreveport. We share the same name, and he laughed when I told him how my friends started calling me the "Beer Man" after ML's story came out. Was so pumped to meet him, and he seemed like a GREAT man! Funny too bc I was wearing a Reggie Bush t-shirt, and he was cool about that. WISH I owned a #84 soooo bad!!!!!
Met him today in Shreveport. We share the same name, and he laughed when I told him how my friends started calling me the "Beer Man" after ML's story came out. Was so pumped to meet him, and he seemed like a GREAT man!
THIS DUDE WAS A BEER TRUCK DRIVER AND MADE IT TO THE NFL...MAN NOW THAT'S HARD WORK AND DEDICATION ALL IN ONE..I WOULD LOVE FOR HIM TO TRAIN ME!!!!!!!!!!
I met him the other day at a public appearance. He was very humble and very personable. Everyone around him had smiles on their faces. He signed a photo, my cap and my jersey, plus he posed with me for a photo. Truly a great guy. My favorite Saints player of all time (and I've been following the team since the mid-80's).
@mrspugs - you couldn't be more right! i was working for a local non-profit in 2002 and asked him (at an autograph session of all places) if he would volunteer a day playing golf for united cerebral palsy of new orleans. he accepted and had a BLAST - the tournament was all costumed women with day long access to alcohol ferried across the course by "hunks." michael was our volunteer hunk and ever the humble gentleman. he makes me even more proud to be a saints fan.

the latest on Mike - His book THE BEER MAN was released last night at a party in New Orleans. Anyone wanting to see the latest on this book and Mike can get the link on the Saints website or if you are on facebbok, it's also there! This amazing man has now come full circle - he has it all and deserves it all - the pride and joy of my life - Michael Lee Lewis - forever my favorite SAINT #84!
Sat. June 26th, the story of Mike's life entitled THE BEERMAN is due to be released! It is a must read for all Michael Lewis fans. I am so very proud of my dearest friend.
Mike is the AMBASSADOR for the Saints and does alot of PR and special projects. He is in his glory still being a part of this most awesome team (10 & 0) woohoo, He will forever be my #84 and my most dearest friend.
there is no one like him - Mike and I have been close friends since he played arena ball in NJ and that was 10 years ago - he is the same sweet and most humble guy in the world. In the book that is being released soon, you will get to read MY story about our awesome once in a lifetime friendship. The story of his life is a MUST READ!
I miss him too - playing........but he is doing really fine as ambassador with the Saints. I talk to Mike as often as possible and he always sounds so great - always happy and positive about whatever he is doing. I wish everyone could know Michael Lewis, the man - he is awesome.
I have ALL of his games played with the Saints on video, but my most prized possession is his Pro Bowl shirt he sent to me on his return from Hawaii. How special is that? 10 yrs. of a blessed friendship!
that is pretty fast but there is more to playing the position than running though you must be able to catch a hard thrown football and be able to control your speed in order 2 run good routes
Mike is back with the Saints as an "Ambassador" working in several areas. For now he is loving it - because being a New Orleans native son - he is exactly where he wants to be - "home".
you don't know him, I do - he came from nothing and became who he is by working hard and never losing faith. He, a poor black kid from New Orleans came to NJ in 1999 to play Arena ball and that is when I met him - became his friend and 10 years later he is the same person, no longer poor, but ever so humble. He is MY FRIEND AND ANYTHING BUT A FAKE!. His scores of faithful fans can't all be wrong? Fakes do not give of their time and money to charity - Michael does and with an open heart.
@FlowersofBeauty Michael is my dearest friend and I love him beyond belief......The story of our friendship is in his book, THE BEERMAN - I spoke with him yesterday, Christmas day and he, as always is WONDERFUL, HAPPY AND STILL MICHAEL!
@mrspugs i agree with everything you said here I was born and raised in new orleans I cannot add to or take away from your comments. They were perfect. Who Dat Baby???
i think this guy got confused about who he was writing comments about.. beerman..fake? your trippin dude.. dude is truly one of my favorite players to touch the ball.. a guy who made the most out of the opportunities he was given..
dude from one one beerman fan to another....i say fuck all of these punks saying he's fake and all that crap..im a saints fan always have been Saints for life
but if u want to talk about fake alright lets talk about fake T.O talks all this shit he was #2 in dropped balls this year.chad johnson this year did not gain over 80 yrds reception until like week 12
and last but worst of all the whole dallas cowboys...And yeah i know ya'll cowboys fans will say oo saints suck cowboys are better records wise but 2 reasons why i can back up my saints it is because the last time the saints played the cowboys we won 30-7 and since 2000 we have more playoff wins then ya'll...and yes the saints havent won a superbowl yet but we will very soon...O and to let the cowboys know something you have to win playoff game to get to a superbowl...just incase if ya'll forgot
not to be mistaken - racist bastard was meant for you - Greer 1683!!! Is that also your sick opinion of our wonderful President-Elect? And this post comes from a white lady from New Jersey.
yes i iam sickened by trash as you-nigger lover-mrsspugs,if i had my way you and you monkey man BO obama would be the first on the boat back to africa or better yet death camps, comes from a white man near you.
spoke to Mike on Christmas Eve and he is doing just fine. Doing some work with the Saints front office and HE IS WRITING HIS BOOK! He is right where he wants to be - in New Orleans!
I live rite around the corner where the beermans family lives he grew up with my uncles i've seen him alot his grandfathers the best mechanic in the world that no lie.
yes, Mike's life is a story that should be told - a very special guy, a very special part of my life and a true rags to riches story - and the very best part - he did it all, achieved so much AND never ever forgot his home, Kenner. LA and his roots. I am so very proud to have him as part of my family here in New Jersey.
Mike is at home in Louisiana and spending time with family in Texas. He is not playing at this writing, but that doesn't mean that he won't be playing again. You WILL be hearing from him very soon. I talk to him at least once a week and trust me - he is fine - in excellent health and he will be back!!!
I would love to see Mike finish his brilliant career as a Saint...after all, he was/is a fan favorite Remember that Mike will be 37 come 11/14 and although he is in the best physical condition, he still faces much younger players (but not faster). I had thoughts of him going to the Rams - Haslett was his coach for 5 years with the Saints. We just have to wait and see where Mike will play and if he will play. For me? I just want him happy and injury free!
i kinda miss the saints from the early 2000 them dudes was young n full a cum ,matter a fact they made saints history by finally winning a playoff game ,
Man,the Saints had a real good team ,those years of like 99-2003,they just had some bad coaching, even though those were special years for the Saints because the finally won a playoff game,Jim Haslett made history with that playoff victory.
can't say yet - but as soon as Mike is allowed to make public some "good stuff" - I will post it immediately. That's my #84.(for the record, Mike is a member of my family)
Because Sean Payton doesn't like wasting roster spots on "specialty" players. He wants someone that can contribute to the O or D as well as ST, and Lewis was just a returner. Of course Payton was probably wrong with this move, as the PT/Moore combo for returns last year was probably near the bottom of the league.
so sad that the Saints released him, their tremendous loss and the 49'ers gain. He is very happy and will probabley be a 49'er for at least next season. The Saints lost their biggest fan favorite!
just want to let all you Michael Lewis fans - he is doing great - back home in New Orleans for a couple of weeks, then back to CA for the 49'ers, where I do believe he will be for another season, at least. He is well, happy and thanks all of his loyal supporters. Any of you who know him personally, know that before anything else he is a gentleman with great humility.
Loved by all the Saints fans and now that he is a 49'er - just watch him become a fan favorite there. Had dinner with Mike this past Saturday night at the Hyatt-Regency on the Hudson in Jersey City, NJ - and he looks great - feels great and he is ready to give his all to his new team. You go, my Michael!
mike stanley u suck but nt better than yo bitch ass momma....BEERMAN WAS DOWN TRICK...u probarly a bears fan....so go sit on a street cone u punk dicksucker
MICHEAL LEWIS= NEW ORLEANS SAINT.....oh and can anybody get his td run back in a preseason game i forgot against who but it was the one where they ruled him down even though the replay showed that only his helmet hit the turf?...it was his best run ever
Love the beerman to bad he had that acl tear cause if not i think he would have not have been cut. I still think that he can catch on with another team i just hope it isnt in the nfc south. WHO DAT!!
WOW this is so cool I JUST SAW HIM LAST NIGHT just a few rows ahead of me at a NEW ORLEANS VOODOO GAME tons of kids and grown men kept harasing the poor man and he was just trying to watch the game but with his heart he couldnt say no
Great video, Beerman you will be missed greatly we enjoyed watching you all these years. I hope you will be able to contribute in some way with the Saints organization. You will always be a Saint to so many of us fans. Peace out, and good luck with your future.
Beerman, you will be missed. It was a pleasure watching you throughout the years. You played for your team and the city, and brought hope to many who thought they can never accomplish anything great.
Great video and song, Beerman...a New Orleans Original...Great title......Michael Lewis true underdog story...I love that TD he saved by catching the guy from the back(3:20)
@LSU014 i was thinking that to myself as i was watching the highlights, then i scroll down and saw your comment. would be nice to see them in gold jerseys again tho. what you think about changing to black helmets tho?

I talk to him at least once a week and trust me - he is fine - in excellent health and he will be back!!!

hopefully sean payton will give him another chance...pierre is ok but he not as fast as BEERMAN!!!

For me? I just want him happy and injury free!

michael lewis ran down J.J. Moses of the texans, not jermaine lewis.
saintsplaya 3 years ago
It really wasn't that clear, but okay.
redekulus 3 years ago
Excuse me, but I don't think that was MICHAEL Lewis for the Texans.
I think that was JERMAINE Lewis. Might want to get that clip out.
redekulus 3 years ago
EXCUSE ME, but I think that was MICHAEL Lewis running him down despite JERMAINE Lewis having a 20 yard head start on him.
Watch the video again...ASS CLOWN!
lizberk72 3 years ago
He was a really fun player to watch back in his day.
You could see in that lone Texans highlight of his that he's lost a few steps.
Still, he was an AWESOME return specialist back around the '02.

Gotta love Aaron Brooks: The WORST spiral in the history of professional football.

LOL!!!!! Michael Lewis ,F---ed ,clean over that kicker at 2:05 ,handled him like a straight rag doll.
jamesbond504 3 years ago
Man,the Saints had a real good team ,those years of like 99-2003,they just had some bad coaching, even though those were special years for the Saints because the finally won a playoff game,Jim Haslett made history with that playoff victory.
jamesbond504 3 years ago 3
can't say yet - but as soon as Mike is allowed to make public some "good stuff" - I will post it immediately. That's my #84.(for the record, Mike is a member of my family)

what you talkin' bout willis?

...and why did we get rid of him??????
Imagine had he been with us during the bears game!!
bigawp 3 years ago
Because Sean Payton doesn't like wasting roster spots on "specialty" players. He wants someone that can contribute to the O or D as well as ST, and Lewis was just a returner. Of course Payton was probably wrong with this move, as the PT/Moore combo for returns last year was probably near the bottom of the league.

so sad that the Saints released him, their tremendous loss and the 49'ers gain. He is very happy and will probabley be a 49'er for at least next season. The Saints lost their biggest fan favorite!
mrspugs 4 years ago
just want to let all you Michael Lewis fans - he is doing great - back home in New Orleans for a couple of weeks, then back to CA for the 49'ers, where I do believe he will be for another season, at least. He is well, happy and thanks all of his loyal supporters. Any of you who know him personally, know that before anything else he is a gentleman with great humility.
mrspugs 4 years ago
Loved by all the Saints fans and now that he is a 49'er - just watch him become a fan favorite there. Had dinner with Mike this past Saturday night at the Hyatt-Regency on the Hudson in Jersey City, NJ - and he looks great - feels great and he is ready to give his all to his new team. You go, my Michael!

The most exciting player in Saints history. And it was still a crap call on the Bears fumble -- he was down.
We need to give him a proper sendoff.

Nice job fumbling in Chicago Beerman. Don't let the door hit you on the way out - it would probably cause another season-ending knee injury.

Beerman, you will be missed. It was a pleasure watching you throughout the years. You played for your team and the city, and brought hope to many who thought they can never accomplish anything great.
