Quake got a "makeover" later in the cereal's marketing campaign, featuring a slimmer character in a cowboy hat and boots...The Quisp packages were also altered in the late 60's because of issues some had about the mascot brandishing a gun on a product intended for kids...
@catchersmitt0 funny yu shud mention that, the voice of quake is actor william conrad. "meanwhile back in pottsylvania" was a tagline from rocky and bullwinkle cartoons.and yoov probly seen him in the crime drama 'canon' on 70s t.v. gud call.cheers
Just thinking about all the sugar those guys were responsible for putting in our kids(not to mention their good buddy, the Cap'n) is making MY blood sugar go up.
@handinside Kids didn't have problems with high blood sugar in 1966, remember this was back in the day when you went outside to play all day. Think about it how many lard asses did you know in the 60s! my guess is none, and why is that because our parents didn't let us get flabby! we also had recess in school 5 days a week .
@bingobongo445 Very true. Kids used to eat sugary cereals, then run around burning off their 'quazy' energy. That was considered normal. Nowadays energetic kids are prescribed Ritalin.
I always liked Cap'n Crunch's taste, but the crunchiness was just too much. The square corners and super-crunchiness was a little like eating a delicious, sugary lightbulb. Quisp tasted exactly like Cap'n Crunch, but it didn't shred the roof of your mouth. Quake tasted like both CC and Quisp, with a dose of fake maple tossed in. One taste too many for my taste..
when they first brought this back, I saw some in a store, with a friend, later I couldn't find it for a while, and he denied having seen it, just to mess with me! lol. the cretin. eventually I started finding it again, and I got the wrist watch. I saved the box too :p
I absolutely love the fact that the Quisp Guy Holds his gun to the Quake guys head right at the end. This is from when girl were girls and men were men ; )
Remember this when I was a kid. I saw this in the supermarket a couple weeks ago and coudn't believe they were making this again. My son asked to get a box. It's the only cereal he wants now. He would eat it every day if I would let him.
quisp was better. quake was ok. this was a pretty clever marketing ploy though, get people thinking about 2 new things to try out, and compare, subliminally suggest there are only these two choices out there.
@wonkeaux I also liked the taste of Quisp the best, The Quake cereal seemed to me to have a "stronger" taste.. (more "syrupy" tasting, or somethin').. and Quisp (to me) tasted pretty much like good ol' Cap'n Crunch! - (which I also like alot).

I remember they had a vote between Quisp and Quake to see which would stay on the market. Can't remember which one won though. LOL! Fun times.

@wonkeaux The only difference between the cereals was their shape and spokes-characters. The basic formula was identicle.
