These parodies are funny but they are also needlessly critical, like so what if Mr Smoke turned out to be appearing as other people? That's part of the plot. The whispers being the formless sounds of dead people talking to each other is pretty "badass" to me, I mean what else would you rather it was? I know the show had its flaws but tone it down a notch jerks.

They did explain it. The Dharma Initiative came to the island so they could use science to harness the unique electromagnetic properties of the island for their research to save humanity. I once was in the theater hoping to watch Quantum of Solace one day, but the projector shorted out and the manager came in and offered all of the dissatisfied viewers a deal: We could go see another movie for free and receive a ticket for another free movie.
