  • That would suck to have a radio you cant ever turn off and only 3 channels on tv.

  • @Dusty696969 accualy, there is only 1 channel on regular north korean tvs

  • @EpicAwesomness100 Well damn thats worst

  • @Dusty696969 ikr?

  • @JohnfromPerth take it easy guy. that wouldn't happen you've been watching too many

    documentaries about NK

  • mmm.... this song used to be a symbol of friendship between two korea.

  • @JohnfromPerth How is this comment still one of the top comments? It's absolute crap - spread by propoganda from America and South Korea. I'm a Brit, I live in England, here we're told the truth about the country.

  • This song is not propaganda at all its bangaseumnida by the Ponchobo Electronic Band

  • yea thats not even propaganda and you deal with propaganda called advertisement everyday. If a north korean had to deal with that theyd seriously probably kill themselves

  • Another thing, at least the DPRK is explicit about its propaganda, whereas you are constantly told "buy this, buy that," "obey your boss, professor, etc.," "love the military because we are defending you," in capitalist countries.

  • @tabrisangel19 Buy this buy that is NOT propaganda. It is advertising. There is a big difference.

  • Long live DPRK, free of imperialists. I would die to have this song on my alarm clock, so rousing!!!

  • LOL That's just an alarm clock radio with some music, not propaganda news..

  • Lol, this is ironic... You watch the TV 24/7 and yet you dont realise the propaganda there? The propaganda you listen to told you subcioustly that this is propaganda even when you dont know what they are saying...

    YOU ARE SO BLOODY IGNORANT!

  • Song muss be approved by gwate leada.

  • They let you bring IPODS now!!! I'm going to remake a vid in June when I get back from the DPRK, going to be playing some SLAYER in our room between tours.. B)

  • Why do you even go there if you are going to complain? Stay where you are then, you discourteous American bitch. Just go back to where you live and stick to McDonald's and WWF.

  • @iVenge Why you are thinkin that bad about WWF? Someone HAS to save the pandas! *duck and cover*

  • This song is friendly, it is not any kind of propaganda I think it is something abot joining hands. I m working on my trip to DPRK

  • lol, you say it's propoganda? and people say it's a song welcoming you xD

  • That is not propaganda... That is one of the most famous korean songs. It means 'pleased to see you'

  • It's a very lovely catchy tune :)

  • and can this peaceful song be turned off? i guess it is quite annoying if some wants to have rest in the silence but need to listen to anything

  • Actually, the song thats playing is one of the only North Korean songs that ISN'T propaganda. It's called Andasumnida and it means "Welcome foreigner" or "It is a pleasure to meet you" or something.

  • I love the great leader Kim Jong-il!

  • God, THIS IS NOT PROPAGANDA! It's a peaceful song called Nice to Meet You.

  • @Deutschland596 The silly americans do not realise that it is an ALARM clock playing 'Nice to meet you' !!!

  • @Deutschland596 it is appropriate for a hotel room...

  • People, people - please read your George Orwell... psychological techniques they use in N.K. are straight out of the nightmare novel 1984 as if they'd used it as a textbook, but I had never seen entirely confirmed the not-being-able-to-turn-the-radio-off-nor-entirely-down bit. Thanks. Do they treat visiting heads of state this way? I don't care what they're playing, whether purely political, or the loveliest music on earth - if they won't allow you silence, then something is entirely wrong.

  • wow, you have more luxury in that one hotel room then all the 23 million people combined in North Korea

exculing kim jom il and other officals of course

  • I don't see how it's propaganda... annoying, I don't doubt, but since you presumably don't understand the lyrics (I don't) any propaganda value would be minor.

I have listened to a number of NK songs and, propaganda or not, many of them are pretty good tunes in my opinion.

  • It was always on, though you could turn it down so that you could barely hear it. It is very much used as propoganda.

I've been to the touristy parts of North Korea twice and no one was going to come and arrest tourists for saying the word propaganda. I'm not saying there aren't a lot of rules, but realistically you are left alone in the tourist area - largely because it is completely fenced in. I live in South Korea and am quite aware of the conditions/dangers of travel in the North.

  • So are you able to unplug that thing? Is it a radio clock? And if you can't unplug it, perhaps you could muffle the sound or even break the speaker by poking it with a pen? LOL

  • Did you have to tell it to play, or did it start automatically? That screeching voice and annoying tune... *shudders* North Korean music is so awful.

  • That always comes in handy when you need extra towels. Just say it and somebody will come to your door with extra towels. :D

The song is called Pangapsumnida, btw.

  • It's not actually propaganda :D but a nice guess. The song says 'Welcome, welcome welcome to North Kore'. One shitty song, though :D

  • yes.. I was wondering whether it was actually anything propaganda-like. Thank you for confirming that it isn't. (for curiosity's sake)

  • It is funny how everything in North Korea comes through the wire (not through radio waves).
