The music and the daning craets all the magical feelings of being in love for the first.time I absolutely love this ballet clip and have watch it over and over again
I saw a documentary on her on pbs. She still teachers ballet today. They should have her be a judge on So You Think You Can Dance. That would be awesome.
Wow, well the decor is horrible, in my opinion, and I don't like her at all, but Nureyev's great as usually, although his landings and pirouettes are quite wobbly here which I don't understand...
@DarkAngelsForever I have to agree about Nureyev. Maybe he was nervous because this was his American debut but I have seen him dance much better. As for Ms. Tallchief, I suggest you watch her dance 'Firebird'. I guarantee you will change your opinion.
Both legendary dancers, but both unfortunately pretty shaky in this particular performance. Perhaps lack of adequate rehearsal, and dancing on a slick concrete floor were to blame.
today i will dream about he. and i wish if she came to my house that would be awsome.i wish i was her.i love them cause their awsome>3.if both where merried that would be awsome and they be a nice cuple and have kid's>3
@Balletdancer980 geesh, was it really worth tormenting meabout? We're allowed to have opinions, maybe I was wrong, but it's not like I claimed Ulyana Lopatkina was a horrible dancer or something!
What a lovely pas de deux. Maria Tallchief has always been one of my favorites. Nureyev, pushed the limits and opened the flood gates of more athleticism in dance. Note the young dancers of "So You Think You Can Dance. I am 69 years old and began dancing at the age of 5. I have watched ballet dancers grow, and fully understand the contributions of the innovators who challenged those who follow to meet and surpass their excellence. They deserve the respect and thanks of todays dancers.
okay maybe the standards are different but hey look at them i cannot stop watching nureyev's dancing, i think both are kinda amazing, they have much passion and you can see it, today's dancers are often so "dead" if you know what i mean ;D
@bradleasays Her features and hair are American Indian and she is actually quite beautiful. Apparently Rudolf deliberately diddled her in London when she and Erik Bruhn were an item. She took Nureyev overseas and introduced him to Bruhn who cast her aside and the rest is history.
@mysticmeg111 You can't say she's beautiful like it's a fact! hahahaha. I've seen Native Americans and the beautiful ones ain't look like that, no sir.
I agree with the comment above... but what i think should be mentioned is the AMAZINGNESS of Rudolf. he was and still should be concidered the best ballet dancer, someone truly to aspire to. He reshaped the male dancer role... i only wish dancers would return to his high quality of dance. all dancers should see this video and appreciate his tallet and learn from him. he was a true artist.
Bless your little oxygen-starved half brain. What's next from your know-nothing, worthless opinion talent-starved corner of the landfill...a whining opus on the "brilliance" of Pauly Shore in American Theatre?
If those truly in-the-know want your worthless opinion, we'll ask for it. Unitl then, PLEASE, hold your breath.
@NoAngel1959 I know what you mean. Maria Tallchief is magnificent, but some are better. There's this german mature woman I saw that really blew my mind. Peace out.
C'est très beau! MAIS, vérifiez vos sources : il ne s'agit pas de R.Nureyev !..

Rudolf Nureyev. How I love you and your wonderful ability to make every movement mind blowing, yet apparently effortless.

Were is video of Makarova and Nureyev?
Genrietta 2 years ago
i don't know. you can see a bit of their struggle, which is the one thing a dancer should never show.
they're both good, but today's standards are so much higher.
also, wtf happened to her face? bizarre
