oh man it's In Search Of. Besides Godzilla movie Saturday on KTLA 5 here in Long Beach THIS was the program to watch!
Bigfoot...Nostradamus....UFOs...Loch Ness Monster and the #1 episode that had me too scared to sleep: The Amityville Horror. Man, when they showed that doll on the rocking chair and it opened it's eyes and they were red.....no sleep.
@nk3007 Yeah, man. The Amityville episode and the Bigfoot ones were the scariest followed by the Lost Colony of Roanoke or the Amelia Earhart one because the idea of people just up and vanishing is truely frightening.
For those who might be interested, Michael Lewis is the composer of the Theme music for this show. I occasionally drive him to Ralphs so he can buy food. =)
I used to love this show. And its theme music. "...unexplained phenomena..." "...this program is the result of scientists, researchers, and a group of highly skilled technicians..." After 30-some years I still remember the theme music and this ending to the show.
This show made me scared to go to sleep on Saturday nights in the late 70s...Bigfoot......African killer bees.....the bermuda triangle........Nostadamus prophesies.......ufos.....how much could a ten year old take???
I have a memory to share. I watched the show about extra terrestrials on a cold winter night when I was about 7 years old. I went to bed and woke up around 2 AM. I looked toward the window and saw what appeared to be flashing yellow and white lights swirling around outside, I instantly freaked out a ran downstairs to my grandparents bedroom to wake them up, almost hysterical, My Grandpa opened the door and found nothing, what it was, was the windows froze over and scattered the light from a
shop sign and security light along with a tree branch. Needless to say I felt very stupid afterward and my Grandpa told me I needed to stop watching those stupid shows!
haha.....sad to say 70s tv could really creep a person out ,especially shows like "in search of".... I remember when Jimmy Carter said he believed in UFOs...sheesh!
I remember this from when I was a kid, too. I could have sworn there was a scene where something was downstains in a cellar/basement, and I freaked out! Does anyone remember this, or do I have the wrong show? BTW, isn't it funny what the memory can store?!
Great show. I also watched it on ATV and it stayed in my memory but have never seen even a clip of it since until now. Fantastic theme tune, I was humming along to it.
fancy you watching it on ATV too :o). i too havnt seen it since its original airing but somehow that music stayed with me over the years. loved it. a classic show and Nimoys narration was excellent. long overdue on dvd i recon. cheers
amazing to see this again. it was shown on ATV here in the UK during the 1970's at 5.15pm. awesome intro, great series and nimoy superb as narrator. i agree with previous post-we need a dvd!!thanks
I was on my way to work and for some reason the music for this show just popped into my mind out of nowhere....after years of dormancy. I thought I might have it confused with that Steve Miller song "C'Mon and Dance". The melodies are so similar. After seeing this video I am relieved to find that I was remembering it correctly.
I'll never forget seeing that footage of Big Foot. For a 6 year old that was CREEPY. So was the Amityville House one.
Man I wish I was back in the seventies

I wish they had a show on TV like this now. The theme music, Leonard Nimoy and subject matter combined to create a indescribable quality alright.
