What kind of products do you use to clean these computers? I want to get my Indigo clam looking shiny, but don't want to use anything that might cause damage.

@IcyGamma - WD-40 for anything sticky or adhesive labels. Denatured Alcohol for ink or permanent markers. Windex for everything else.

I like Mac OS 10.4 more than Panther because it can still get new applications. Newer iTunes updates can't run on 10.3.

I just bought one of these off Ebay for £50 as a project. I am going to upgrade the memory, install a 80gb hard drive and install an airport card. Oh and a new battery.

The whole project is going to cost me about £180.

I don't know how much an upgraded fully working clamshell goes for though. I tried buying one of the 466 SE models on Ebay about 5 years ago and they were selling for $300+.

yeah, most of the ones at my school have little black stripes and marks that get in around underneath the screen bezel or whatever it's called. it's the part that goes around the screen on the inside. black marks get in there somehow.

hi i replaced my hard drive on my ibook G3 clamshell 366mgz firewire the cd rom eject cd but not play them can i fix it. it was working when i bought it, but had to use a reboot system cd now it doesnt work if not how can i boot from the usb because press t key you boot from firewire.

Why do people on ebay sell these things without an AC Adaptor? That's really silly, you can't use a laptop computer without its AC Adaptor because you can't charge the battery, the battery may also not be able to hold a charge.

Can your run OS X Tiger on it? And can it run the Sims 2?

Sort of, and no. Sims 2 = big no no.

If you get the 466MHz model, you can run Tiger without any hiccups. If you get any other model, you would have to have lots of experience. So, if you're a Mac novice, get the 466MHz one if you must run Tiger.

Although, they CAN run 10.4.

None can run Leopard.

But, if you're just going to use it for Internet, School Work, light stuff, you can get the slower models which can run up to 10.3 (Panther). Which, I find, perfect for all of these vintage Macs.

No although you could get the Sims Complete collection. Even though it requires a 500MHz G3 it's too old of a game so it has no searcher thing built in so it will run fine on a 466MHz. I bought a G3 Clamshell off ebay yesterday and plan running the Sims 1 on it without EPS for the moment so if you want you can subscribe so you can see how it runs?

What kind of black marks? If it is permanent marker, go down to your hardware store and buy some "denatured alcohol" it is usually in the paint section by the paint remover. It will take it right off.

Depends on what I am cleaning. I use a lot of windex. For some things I use alcohol or WD-40.

I wouldn't recommend them for kids. Not fast enough to run the flash games on the internet or modern children's games. You'd have to hunt for older kids's games and most of those were designed for MacOS 9 and earlier.
