I was there, filming the ball on top of one times square when it was raising, and we were evacuated during the practice and we had to retreat back to our hotel, the Hilton, and returned to redo the practice later around 9 pm.

The owner of the van, an Isreali national who owned the van is being sought for questioning by police. He had a Police operations plackard in the windshield and no plates to use to disguise the van. Owner is now out of the country and on his way to Tel Aviv to avoid prosecution. The "van police" are looking for him. :P :) The criminal was taken to the airport by the INS so that he wouldn't be questioned by the local police.

Are you aware of the attempted attack near in NYC yesterday? Guess what -- it was a van with explosives. Apparently the Pakistan Taliban posted a video taking credit for it on the 30th, the day before it happened.

That is sad that it took 2 days for a officer to see that there was no license plate on the vehicle. I have to ride my bike through Times Square every morning and I actually saw this van here only once ... It is pretty weird now to know that I rode my bike beside something that would make world news the next day ...

You have to keep you eyes open today to anything that looks suspicious, like a van without a plate sitting for days, in fact, that the van has no plate is enough to call the police and let them check it out.
