Imagine the day when ou can get in a big machine that will transport you to thier world also. What would they call such a contraption. Maybe an areo-lifting-scope, or a swimming-without-getting wet-device.
@rudster100 Darn tootin! i din' unnersan' a single gosh darned WORD that tea-sippin' limey said! we oughta git ovr there an' teach them pussys a lesson they wont forgit! aftr all, we saved them thar asses in dubya dubya two...
People there's no telescope or internet.. We've had a fiber optic connection to Europe and England for awhile. It uses fiberoptics for video and there is no deley because the transmission moves at the speed of light, hence the "optic" part of the word.
It's obviously a camera with a high speed connection. It could be done with fiber optic cable but that would cost millions of dollars. And we all know that life is all about the ducats. Werd.
Surly in reality the place would be crowded because people want look into it. They must have just asked a few people to look through for the document.
as in common sense, i think its just a two cameras linked with a very high speed internet connection because that will be easier than building a huge telescope .. only if they wanted something special .. but anyways i liked the idea of the huge telescope that links between two cities .. =)
dude its fiber optics...you know what a fiberoptic cable is do you? its not a set of mirrors like the original design this here is just a mock of what could've been but uses cameras and a a tv screen or a projector...it would be cool though if it was the real thing
@Bleson real being 2 props at 2 places. both have cameras and both have monitors. They simply transmit data across the ocean is all...big whoop...its basically a video conference except bigger
I really really wanted to go see this in a couple weeks but found out it got taken down last summer, I'm completely gutted!! Wish they could keep things like this going, it's a great invention!
No tunnel. It's just a big fiber-optic webcam. Before unveiling it, they set up fake drillbits coming out of the ground for publicity. It's too bad the thing was only set up for a few weeks.
Could someone please tell me: is there a tunnel or not? Some people say the light reflects and bounces from one end of the tunnel to the other, and some say that it's just a video link. Please tell me the right answer!! Thanks
it uses fiber optic technology. technically, there is no tunnel. Fiber optics is used to relay information electronically via light. look up fiber optics on wikipedia for further explanation.
so, wait.....is it digital or just alot of mirrors undergound? Because if it's digtal i don't understand why is it so amazing, but if it is mirrors...then...HOW THE HELL DID THEY GET THEM UNDERGROUND!!!
whoa, they should...my brother-in-law is over there right now, but he's coming home soon. but i dont think its possible, because the only reason they installed one where they did is because they used an old tunnel, so it already had a foundation and everything. if there going to waste money on something, though, they should install one in iraq
thats the most hilarious thing i've ever heard..it's just funny. lol, when will they make another, in a different country? unless they dont wish to waste any more money on it, but...idk. yeah, a waste, but an entertaining one at that. has someone pressed their face against the glass and made funny faces yet? :P (i'm not even sure if it has glass..i just found out about it today..)
It is very special- I went to the Brooklyn side today-- If one of these devices was posted in Iraq before the war-There would have been NO WAR.. You couldn't allow someone to be harmed when you are personally connected to them- Humans need to be reminded that people from other places are humans too... This is very special and is a wonderful gift from the artist.. I will not forget it.
all it is is a live camera feed, but the guy loves illusions, so he makes it look like a tunnel, and cuts audio to make this seem like a mirrored tunnel as well
It's simple but surprisingly interesting to wave at people and be waved at. It's guarded and working 24 hours! It was funny to see the gorgeous sunshine in Brooklyn while we stood under my brolly in the rain.

If it were a telescope, wouldn't it just be looking into space because it wouldn't be able to see over the horizon line?
