I am a nurse and communicating with folks while doing a procedure is so very important. Also I know you may like your nurse but as a nurse, wow I mean did she touch the sterile cath tip on the toliet lid. Gross, come on! This is a sterile procedure very important to keep sterile!

Great video. I change my own caths and catch myself doing the dumbest things in terms of keeping sterile. I try to be so careful! I see the point behind the comments. I've had so many injuries and am so delicate. How much do you feel of the procedure? I have full feeling and feel all the pain. I'm happy you have a nurse and you like her. That makes life so much easier! Bless her and all the other care givers out there.

she might be a wonderful nurse, but check out other videos on how to cath and maintain sterility.. and compare with her procedures. I think it's much more important, as your life might depend on it..

Regarding all the panic-mode messages about this video.... I just think that everybody needs to calm the heck down. I know y'all love Chris and want the best for him, but if he's never had a problem with the lady, them leave it alone. God knows how many "sterile barriers" are broken millions of times a day at our local McDonalds and most of us are still alive....(and at the hospitals to, I might ad). Just pray and ask God to protect him from ALL infections...UTI and otherwise. I have. =)

jesus christ i was reading some of these comments tough crowd eh hahaha i have a super pubic cath it's the best by far i say used to have it changed in the hospital then realized that was a waist of time started doing it myself i don't even wear gloves just use hand sanitizer it's quick and easy quads get uti's all the time no matter wat so all you haters can SUCK IT!!

@llewlocsirhc You will not be singing her praises when you get a major infection because of her lack of sterile technique. A nurse shouldn't ever cross the sterile field, and I honestly can't count how many times she does. She should also be wearing sterile gloves. She just looks like she is in a hurry. But, keep singing her praises. I pray you never get an infection because of her or her incompetence.

I had gotten shot last year with my brother Down in cali on a drug deal. And i got shot in the lower abdomen and i needed a catheder for a month and It hurt so bad getting them in. But unfortunatley my brother did not make it, He died in january of last year.

how many infections have you gotten from this nurse's cath changes? Don't look like a protected sterile field to me. She didn't even speak to you at all and at least and tell you what she was doing when she was doing it. (I'm cleaning you, I'm inserting the catheter, etc). That's home health care these days I suppose.

I would NOT let that nurse touch me AT ALL! As a home health care nurse, dealing with paras, and quads, this woman is going to (or already has), give this guy a bladder infection! Sloppy sterile technique! No hand washing! Disregarding patient safety! I would have reported her to the board of nursing!

Geesh, you need to find another nurse.  This is the most unsterile procedure I have ever seen. She contaminated everything! If you don't have an infection you will get one! Time to fire this woman!

Your nurse needs to go back to school. You NEVER touch "dirty" or even "clean" anything when you have sterile gloves. She is breaking sterile field every time. NO wonder she is not showing her face. Shame! You must be on prophylactic antibiotics to keep you from getting an infection!!!

E did you intentionally order the side of E coli with your cath? That was one of the most unsterile procedures I have seen. Where was she keeping the 'sterile' cath? Behind the bathroom sink!..........mmmmmm pathogens galore. I hope she doesn't 'care' for anyone I know, and my sympathy to the poor fella getting substandard care.

I'm a "PRE" nursing student and even someone who just wants to be clean and NOT sterile doesn't set this up on the toilet seat... You need a new nurse. She did not maintain sterility at all. That sets you up for UTI's. I am surprised she allowed you to video tape. Sterile technique is Nursing 101!!

duh - not her own bathroom, his bathroom! and really, after awhile your own bugs don't kill you. UTI is a problem with indwelling caths anyway, no matter what you do.

Boys are easy... there's no way you can miss! =P

And even though most quads don't have touch sensation, we have what I call "deep" sensation - and most of the time things like this f'ing hurt!

On a side note, DaddyRapist (lovely name btw *eye roll*), there's no telling what a person will do until they are faced with it. Going out the way you would is the most spineless ( no pun intended) thing one could do.

I do not have "feeling" there, but I DO have very painful bladder spasms and when this is done for me my body reacts to the pain it feels 'deep'-sensation by my blood pressure raising, uncontrollable shivering-goose bumps and all(and I am a woman, so perhaps males hurt even more?)
