Everyone uses oil based products for transportation, etc. but you have to admit that the industry keeps shooting itself in the foot. What could not & would not happen happens (Exxon Valdez, Transocean blowout in the Gulf, refinery fires and explosions, pipeline leaks, etc.). The Keystone XL Pipeline COULD be safe & environmentally sound IF TransCanada would invest the time & money to monitor the pipeline, replace faulty valves & corroded pipe, etc. But that is a cost & cuts into the bottom line.

There is no freaking way a foreign country should have eminent domain in the United States. No way. And that pipeline will be going through a HUGE natural aquifer. Don't get me started.....Nebraska and Nebraskans should have the right to refuse this "development". Are jobs worth the destruction of our natural resources, our lifeline? I say no. Go get a different job. Leave the aquifer alone.

High environmental standards? The Keystone 1 pipeline, to which the Keystone XL would be an extension, has leaked 12 times in its first year of operation. And it's only a 30-inch pipe, not a 36-inch pipe of the same thickness with abrasive tar sand at 1400-1600 PSI @ up to 160 degrees. Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia are not threatening the Ogallala Aquifer. TransCanada is. This oil is isn't for the US; it will be sold on the world market and will raise Midwest oil prices.

Confused people. They do not realize that Canadian Oil is ETHICAL OIL.
Canada has high environmental standards. Iran does not.
Canada has Gay pride parades. Iran puts Gays to death.
Without Canadian Oil the US will get CONFLICT OIL. Syria-Iran-Saudi Arabia. Huge human rights issue. Google Ethical Oil
