I love the new AIC music, but I SAW THEM ON TOUR IN 2006 AND WILL NEVER GO AGAIN....Jerry Is trying to make some cash off his dead so called friend....why not just call it "jerry cantrell and freinds" and sing the old Alice in Chains songs??? TO make money, thats why :( I dont see dave grohl and krist novellic going out with a new singer and calling them selves, Nirvana, Its tarnishing a mans, legacy, and its sad, just call it jerry cantrel if its not for the money and disrespect to a friend !

i can see a little of where you are coming from on this, but felt it necessary to mention that the whole band is still in tact, the singer is the only new one. Micheal Starr was the bass player for FACELIFT and recorded (but didnt tour) DIRT, but was booted for drugs. this "new" bass player did the DIRT tour and recorded everything else with the band until Laynes death. also, even when Layne was still with the band, Jerry still wrote all his vocal parts and is the key creator of this band.

also, i think its a hell of an achievement to rise from the ashes in this way and still stay true to your sound and achieve an entire album that still sounds like alice in chains. when i first heard it, i just about hit the floor! it just goes to show you that the creative part of this band is still in tact. i know Jerry and Sean (drummer) personally and how can you blame someone for trying to make money? wouldnt you? be real. my overall point being is that these guys didnt chose to be doctors, carpenters, plummers, or cabinet makers, they are MUSICIANS and thats all they got. to be mad at these guys for trying to make more music in a nearly impossible to achieve profession is the only thing out of place here. MORE POWER TO THEM and congratulations on putting it all back together and making it a success AGAIN!! i would like to see anyone else try that. to ME that is a testament to a TRULY GREAT BAND!! give them credit

Vocals are stagnant, no worthy hooks. The distortion lacks variation. Sounds like old hair band shit. Listen to the Cantrell with the same note bend as the first song on this sample... The sun rose again is a good song. I don't like the sample at all.... this really sucks.

Don't get pissed Meowchef about the comments. I Gave you a honest evaluation of the Sample. I have seen them live in Mandalay Bay in 2008. They were better than Velvet Revolver, but they don't hold a candle to Rush, Pink Floyd, Zeppline, Nazareth, REM, Police, and U2. They are just one of the garage bands that came out of Seattle when Nirvana took the stage. They were good live, but the sample here suxs big dicks...

Strust007, I think for Grunge they are top 5 for sure strust. I just think grunge is shit music that depends on video not music. I will tell you AIC played rooster live real good. They had great theatrics with Jerry adding a video and extended intro. the new lead singer is exceptional. Better than Layne, because of his frontman presentation... according to live footage I have seen of Layne.. Layne doesn't hold a candle to the new guy.

strust, the bands I mentioned are real rock-n-roll bands. I have seen Black Sabbath, Rush, U2 twice, Rolling Stones, Police, REM live and there is a difference in those bands live VS Velvet revolver and AIC. It's night and day but they are all rock-n-roll....

What a lot of people seem to be forgetting is its been 10+ years since aic actually made an album. With a new singer to incorporate now itll take an album or two to re-establish themselves. I say this is a hell of a good start!

It just sounds like Jerry's solo stuff, which i'm not complaining about because I love it but all the songs sound pretty much the same, same tempo, same harmonising and just plain boring. Layne made it different so I dont understand why duvall isn't heard in any of those songs! Ill listen to it but Alice in chains died for me when Layne died and I wish they would leave it be.

they really over did it with the harmonizing on this album. the beauty of old aic is that each album was evenly blanaced between haromizing and stayley solo. this is nearly ALL harmonized. and only about half of it sounds good.

they need to give duvall room to grow.

Buying it the minute it hits the stores. I know this makes me old (LOL) but, I bought Facelift in 1990 at Warehouse Records...it was so different than the 80's stuff from high school that all started to sound the same. They were the leading edge of the rock revolution!

I get the feeling that this album will be a classic. The songs have the classic AiC feeling, but they are not trying to be "updated" versions of the old songs, they have their own identity and they sound like a natural progression for the band.

Sounds amazing. Continuing the legacy that is Alice In Chains. I was a Duvall hater at first but then realized he is not trying to be Layne but making his own impact with the band which he has accomplished. So happy they're making music.
