holy crow thats a huge topload! (not a metaphor) try increasing the inductance of your primary by using more turns or thicker wire/tube. excelent coil!
but to get the better results you want a bigger supply (2 NST's in parallel) and a slightly bigger cap (19nF) and that sould bring you down to about 11 turns and an amount of power that suits the coil better
get wintesla or quickTC (free downloads) and put in your specs and have a play. but your cap is to big (for 1.5X rez you want 9.9nF and your power supply is a little small for the secondary.. from what you have told me you are a little less than 1 turn from tune (240° in fact)
my secondary is 19 inches of 26 awg magnet wire, 1300 feet, 1100 turns, what do you think? without getting a smaller top load...im at 12 turns, and am not in tune, because I ran out of primary windings
hello, my coil is a 4 inch pvc secondary, but it needs over 12 turns to be close to in tune, do you know how I can reduce this ammount? my toroid is home made, its much like a 3 inch dryer duct toroid but a little different, my cap bank is at 13 nf, with a 12kv 30 ma nst, and a static spark gap, 1/4 inch tubing for my primary... thanks
have you run out of turns? cause more turns can be better.. but to decrease it (although i haven played with my coil in a long time so i could be wrong) a smaller top load, how long is your sec and what guage is the wire?

@kartkid100 i now have a 6 inch secondary so that reduced the need for the huge topload.. and using more turns in the primary mean a bigger topload

Nice! I see from your other videos that that is the pulsed DC voltage doubler set up. Are you using an inductive charging choke with that?
