  • how much is the new battery

  • hi

have you moved the jumper from the Esc ?

im looking to do the same thing as you and use my lipos from my other planes in this.

i think im going to use 9x6 props the same ones i use on my mustang and there also used on the super cub LP being on the safe side (:

    cheers

  • @TeenFlyer95

I had actually done nothing with the plane at that time. Just switched the battery connectors. I am now running a brushless motor though, with ailerons and the whole nine yards.

And btw, I ran it on a 10X8 prop for 2 years, and it never gave any trouble at all.

And you will actually loose a lot of performance with a 9X6.

  • Hi there,

I liked your video a lot,

I dont know so much stuffs about eletric models, I'm think about change my super cub to a LiPo battery, I have a 2200mah and another 880mah.

What I need is just hook it up and fly ? or I need to change something on the speedy control ?? can I use both??

    thank you

  • @gustavoGFS Well that's a good question.

If that 2200mAH is a 3 cell, then by all means use it. All you really have to do is swap to some of the same connectors. Like if your battery has a DEANS, EC3 or something, then just put the same ones on the controller/receiver unit.

And you don't need to do anything other than that.

I have a new video on the way, it's part three to these mods!

  • @gustavoGFS u should get a new motor that can take the power the super cub come with an brushed 480 motoer u need a 600

  • awesome paint by the way - people are telling me more and more lipos rarely need to be balance charged - not sure how to charge a lipo pack without using the balancing plug -ive found the worst bottleneck in the production of power in an rc airplane is a brushed motor-- i put a 11.1 2800 lipo in a wildhawk and it still acted like crap - then i put a 2600 kv BL in and it jumps out of my hand vertical !!!

  • Oh your right for sure about those hobbyzone connectors. My only comment is that, that was 2 years ago! lol

I am using EC3 connectors and I like them quite a bit......sometimes you have to be careful that you don't put them in at reverse polarity though, I have had it happen......Deans are more secure in that way, but yes VERY hard to get on sometimes!

I got a new video on the way, I put a eflite power 10 in my Typhoon and it is amazing!

  • I am just trying to find a really good prop set up before it goes on air.

    Thanks by the way.

    Stay tuned.

  • i got the same charger, its ok -Mystery is good stuff - them tamiya battery connectors are pretty unreliable - the females expand and stay expanded --gold bullets carry the electricity better but theres a learning curve on how to solder them on, and they need shrink wrap which slips off the protected area occasionally - and the males are too big and too small occasionally -but can be adjusted with a magnifying glass so you can see how to do it - Deans are really tedious to install

  • How many speed controllers have you burnt out by using a LIPO battery with a 10x8 prop? I hear they're really bad for that.

  • Not one, and I have had it for over a year.

  • hey nice video but some things wrong. first of all there is too much off brand crap that Ive never heard of! Though that stuff might be cheaper u should still be careful what you buy. A better choice probably would have been a trex 3 cell lipo and its own charger. If what you already bought works fine though than thats fine too.

  • K, I have had my battery for a year now with steady use all the way, and it has never given a hint of trouble. What I like even more about it is I paid $10 off eBay for it. So you are not going to sell me on a battery that costs way over twice as much, and doesn't necessarily perform any better.

And I think also that "Shark" is a fairly well known brand. At least, I sure see a lot of them around.

  • how does the 8 cell battery do compared to the lipo you have?

  • Well, I don't have an 8cell, but I think a lipo has way more juice then a 8cell.

  • Did you ever upgrade the motor? 5/5

  • No, as it turns out I would have to get a new EC of course, but then would have to get all new electronics as well, so I just got a new plane.

  • i got another idea. buy an airsoft tank, and dissassemble it. take the whole firing mechanism and attach it to the plane after making sure it still works. then get a friend to control the shooting and terrorize your neighbors.

  • Yeah.......but lots of money for just givving your niebers a hard time! hahah

  • dude where do i get paint for the plane?

  • Any hardware store! The paint is actually just normal spray paint! (Krylon plastic is the exact paint!)

  • ight thanks dude...nice vids 5/5

  • Thanks man!

  • The stock "DEANS" conector on your LIPO battery would actully be better than that old school "tamiya" style especialy with the power of a LIPO battery. You will notice that with that white "tamiya" style connector you are using it will get quite hot during charging or use, where as the "DEANS" connector that your Battery originaly had on it is much more free flowing your better off to change your charger and plugs on the battery and speed control to the DEANS you WILL notice a difference.

  • Yeah your right about that.

I did that awile ago when I did not know that there would be a difference.

I think I did that so I could still use the original battery as well.

I actualy don't fly the ol'Cub much any more.

I have a new 3D aircraft! The only time I fly it is when I want to try snow flying, I have 3 1/2 inch wheels on'er now! Its a lot of fun!

    Thanx for the comment!

    cubworks

  • so basically, you can get almost any battery, depending on how powerful i want my motor to run... >? and just strip the connectors off the stock battery, wire them to your new battery... ok if i do that then how would i charge the battery? strip the connectors off another battery and wire them to the CHARGERs cables? I just dont understand how it could be compatible witth the old connectors?

  • You can get almost any battery, but I wouldn't recommend going any higher than 2200mAH.

And If I were you, I wouldn't do anything with your old battery cause you will want it if your lipo doen't work out right away.

Just order the battery pigtails from Hobbyzones website.

Then you will have to get a lipo charger to fit the charging T-plug in all lipos.

  • how do u know what kind or what size of battery the motor will take? and how do u know what kind of charger to get for any type of battery u buy?

  • Well a good sized motor will actualy take almost any battery.

I got a general idea from here, youtube!

And any 3 cell 11.1v balancer battery charger will charge the battery on this video.

I guess just read the specs on the charger and make sure they are compatibal with the battery you are buying.

You may have to get differant conectors, but a good RC company should have those around!

    Any other questions?

  • nice video man helped heaps keep up the good work

  • nice mods - that is some serious LI-PO suction
