I think the thing I like about Doug the most is his right hand. It's so relaxed and he makes it look so easy to play what he's playing. Other than that, I love his playing and his tone.

@cast390 No saturation? The tone is over saturated. That's why it sounded like a buzz saw the whole way through the clip. The gain structure is too tight and thick. It sounds like there's no real depth to the grit of the sound. I agree with your issues with the sustain and treble. Though, distorted guitar is intended to be piercing to the ear. Most guitar players accent the bass in their sound these days for some reason. And that just deadens a guitar's tone.

@cast390 Compared to those 3 amps, a loud fart sounds better. They accent nothing but bass. Something the guitar isn't supposed to focus on. Guitar lives and breaths in the mids. Which none of the amps you list have the ability to do without excess bass. And there's so much tightly packed gain an so much saturation that everyone who uses them sounds just like everyone else who uses them. List your favorite guitarists. Odds are they got their signature sound from a marshall before any other amp.

@cast390 Either way you slice it. This particular amp sounds like utter shit. At least we can agree on that. Though I wonder how much of it was the settings on the amp. The pickups he uses. The tubes. The quality of the camera used to get the video. Any recording taken by a digital apparatus is going to sound like shit anyway. So this amp likely sounded worlds different at this event. Though, it still likely sounded like shit. It's going for a modern gain structure, that's a recipe for shit.

reb and doug in whitesnake is a dream come true.... doug has the gr8 tone, is more bluesey, and on the rhythm side, while reb is a bit more firey and from the evh school of burning and tapping.....just wish Tommy and marco were still with them..... it would be PERFECT!!

Just wanted to say and straighten out some folks...the tone you hear is not "Paul in a Marshall" It a Paul with custom pickups (Suhr Aldrich) and Alnico V magnets, running through a Majik Box Rocket Fuel PEDAL, and then thru a Marshall. A Paul with a Marshall will NOT give you this "tone" even if you can play as well as Doug!

Doug is definately the most BA guitarist out there, since he's got the greatest tone and about the fastest fingers in the world. It's hard to say he's the greatest though, since he really hasn't composed anything. I wish Whitesnake would make a new album with him cuz that would be epic

not a kill switch.on a les paul u can select the tone and volume for each pick up so all he does here is jus turn the neck pick ups volume off n keeps the bridge one up so when he selects the neck pickup there is no sound if ya get me?

Gibson les Paul isnt a Shredder Axe they mad for Rock Blues Jazz also for Oldschool Metal whit the rght Setting.But vor me a Shredder Axt is more somthing like a Jackson, ESP, Dean, Charvel, Kramer, Schecter etc Stuff like that. If a LEs Paul was made for Shredding the must have Pickups whit more output and som other things.Dont get me wrong you can shredd on a Lespaul but it is harder than an other Guitars and they are just not made for this Stylde of playing.

i Mean on the Hig Notes from the 14 Fret to the 22 you have never a such a good acces to the frets than whit a Supercaster etc. Show me you can play fast on thes hig notes 1.when you standing 2. your Guitar is so down as by aldrich. you have do do crazy stuff whit you fingers and the hole Hand becasue you have such a bad acces. other PLayers like Slash and Zakk take the Guitar on ther Legs to reach this notes better. and pls Healdfield isnt a Shredder Rythmmachine yeah but not shredder :).
