  • i flew the same plane with any problem...of course is tail heavy., but that's it........never trust a Cg according to Dynam's manual instructions..Good Video thanks for sharing

  • You are a great engineer Dave. Thank you for sharing the videos and hints.

  • I,ve been saying it for years Dave, They make it,we make it better.

  • As far as I am concerned, when you buy a PNP, you shouldn't make any mod to improve upon its flying ability, when you have to do so, those guys making the planes are not doing their job, since this vid is almost 2 yrs old, I hope Dynam has since improved on their products , awesome job on the mods!

  • Good job on this one, very impressive!

  • it looks kinda like a p40 now

  • love your stuff!

  • Wow Nitroplanes should start to send you All the New models to you to be TESTED from Now On! That was Great, what is that rule besides the Lemon law, I think what is going wrong will go wrong, i think?

  • Dave. Again good video on this 1. thanks for the heads up on CG. I personnaly dont like Dynam plans. cheap and very unflyable with out a lot of mods. My latest from them and NP was the SR trainer. very poor out the box. Now wing support ie: Spar that i could see, just a thin white straw, so i had to reinforce with 2 carbon rod's 1 on the leading edge 1 on the trailing edge, Oh and a new motor as the shaft on the stock broke easly on landing, and they dont carry a spare.

  • ugly but it works! i rebuilt the front of a micro mustang with a styrofoam cup just so my friend could fly with me!

  • I had a foam sureflite spitfire yrs ago, same problems, very snappy.

The scale outline makes for a very short nose, they should have done a MK10.

  • i knew that landing would be crappy haha

  • i wouldnt buy planes online because it takes to long and if theres a problem and you email them they might not answer you but if you go to stores you can talk to them directly.

  • Belive it or not Free energy is real,But a few ppl make too many billions from our energy needs to let this technology be known,Get a REAL working magnet motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Free yourself!

  • So better off with the Hobby-King or Park-zone models then? It's a shame because Dynam have made so rather good planes over the years.

  • i think that you just need to turn off the motor when its about 1 foot above the ground and it should take time before the motor turns off therefore slowing down the plane for a safer landing.

  • always remember to flare :)

  • ..LOL...i like the end..."well it is heavy..it is heavy..but it flies perfect now!!!..GREAT JOB..THANKS FOR ALL THE TIPS

  • much better

  • Well done! really enjoyed the vids, shame the spit needed soooooooo much work to get it to do what it should anyway!!!!!

  • whats with the peg on the transmitter ariel

  • All in all, a piece of junk out of the box. If you buy anything from NitroPlanes, you don't know what you're getting. Thanks for the 2 part vid.

  • I wonder if you add the bottom scoops back on to see if that was your problem with the major unstableness?

  • nice work

  • Id give up rerern the plane and then get a F-16 RC plane witch i got now and it flys like a treat but good job on makeing it fly

  • dave, best glue for these type of EPO foam planes??

  • @nottilus

    two part 5-minute epoxy

  • i am building a plane look it up its on my channel please view comment and rate please

  • It looks like the manufacturer destroyed the proportions of the spitfire design and turned the plane into something one would find in a happy meal. No wonder it wouldn't fly.

  • i was wundering if you can take a look at the fly zone stager wing bech craft

  • what would be the best warbird foamie for a beginner/intermediate?

  • The clay gives it the look of a Hawker Tempest, nice one.

  • Dear Dave i love your videos and i need your help with somthing im getting a 3D heli witch one shall it be a Trex 250 or one of the blades ? Great vids btw 5STARS

  • dude get a t-rex 450

  • hay dave are you going to mke a video for the new parkzone huba

  • FAIL its the habu

  • Its probably not worth $400 to Dave to own the habu but I sure hopes he can borrow one, we know Dave uses the DX6i which is perfect already for it. Let's see a 1million hits RC video! Habu review!!!

  • That plane is beyond help, they shouldn't sell something like that to the unsuspecting public.

  • that goes just great now dave simon england

  • That's strange. I have a foam gws zero that had the same CG issues and would not fly, even with the matching power setup. I had to cut a huge hole for a big heavy lipo to go with a brushless swap that i purposely stuck out way too forward. after doubling what it was supposed to weigh, the landing gear wouldnt hold, but the plane flew amazing. what's with these cheap war birds not balancing right without huge modifications?

  • to heavy materials in the back and battery compartment to far back. looking at the 1:1 scale fighters they had a huge engine in the front.. the weight of the engines was almost a ton on a 3-4 ton aircraft. so 1/4 of the weight was the engine that was in front.. fuel etc at the wing..

i guess its hard to make it look right and still be balanced without good design.

    just my unqualifyed guess:)

  • you make complete sense. how could they sell a plane as a scaled down version if the tail is right behind the main wing. i'm sure they decided that "close to scale" dimensions were more important then cg and performance. the length of the fuselage back to the tail looks great, but just makes its sooo hard to balance correctly with the factory power setup. although a cheapy, i expected a little more from gws.

  • just hang it on the wall for a decoration ! it cool looking but not worth a damn to fly

  • the sad thing is nitroplanes sells cheap planes thats true and most of them do not fly right out of the box i bought one from them and the speed control burned up before i got it in the airalso dave i would take the gear off and land on that big lump of clay you got on it...LOL

  • Sorry, man, but my name sounds like yours!

Your videos are great! The mods are amazing!

  • look at that big bulbous nutsack on the front. lol thats just sad. they should use your testing and make a revision.

  • I consider that very unacceptable. I think they should fix these issues. I wouldn't sell a product like that.

  • It more than scares me to buy such products when they dont even put time into a plane like this :(

  • Just wanted to say. Dave I love your videos. They are by far some of the best on Youtube for RC. Much better than the biased company videos. You show us how these products really fly. Thanks for everything you do. Your garage is a dream come true! Love it! Keep up the great flying and videos Dave! - JD.

  • this is the same problem as the HBK2 and has the same solution :) use the same size lipo as the manufacturers were using when they made this plane :) rather than put in 11oz of dead weight and lower run times put in a bigger lipo further forward and increase flight times :) simples :D

  • The bigger lipo, I tried on the last flight in the other video and it is as far forward as it can go. It is a really short nose if you look. First it barely fit in and then there was no room for the clay. The bigger Battery only weighed 5 ounces. Definitely not enough.

  • Excellent mods to make it flyable, I have been waiting for you to sort it (knew you could) it kind of now looks like a Hawker Typhoon or the Sea Fury developed from a Tempest, clip the wings, almost a double (close enough, lol)! Fantastic work as always. I think a lot of people (me me me) want to see you fly the msr some more, let us see what that micro baby can do in the hands of such an expert!

  • you know what the problem might be the scale matches the length and what not BUT does not mach the wight in the tail and the amount in the nose!

  • Good job, I knew you'd figure it out. 5*****

  • it even sounds like a spitfire :)

  • I checked the channel almost everyday to see what happened to this plane. and I see that it flies really well and elegantly! it gives a real plane feeling.

you said you've sent an email to the manufacturer , did they reply your email? any explanation?

  • wow u r amazing!!!!!!

  • That was so cool to watch. I honestly did not believe it would fly after watching the first vid and the first attempt rog in the second vid. Then FOOM!!! you are totally the man! 11 Oz of pure genius! XD

  • Hey Dave:

Just got my computer back online, with a

better graphics card, and without a virus

that I didn't know I even had. In your scan

of the garage, I SAW IT!! Good job on the

Spitfire. After looking at some photos of

a real spitfire, I think the nose is perhaps

too short, but you did make it fly!!

  • Jusy like the real spitfire when it is in the air, and flies like it tooo!!!! just dont look at it any closer

  • NightFlyyer Do you sale re-modified planes like these?

  • Your videos about this Dynam product just confirm a theory of mine: don't buy cheap from stores that specialize in selling cheap products at low prices; you will end up frustrated and spending more.

  • you can make anything fly better dave!

  • dave im not bein funny but i woulda asked for my money back

cause you shouldnt need to do that many mods to get aplane to fly well.

id be mad but of course yoru a cool chracter so as you say "try try again"

  • Dave,

How about hold up elevator as you gradually increase throttle? You may have to take off very scale like. Just my $.02

  • maybe add some floats as a tribute to the S.6B.. i'd be interested to see how it goes from water

awesome video as always Dave - G'Day from Australia

  • That is a lot of weight. One would think that Nitro would require a better job of designing than this. Don't they test their airplanes before selling them ? Apparenty not !

  • where is the catapult when you need it...????

  • If Dave can't fly this spitfire, no one can:) Always wonderful videos! Keep up the good work, your friends in South Florida! "Wheels up"

  • hey Dave, got ya some sweet gloves, good for you! ha ha helps with that cold weather ya got, nice work on the plane too. I know you enjoyed fixin it up.

  • Now here you can see some real experience at work, awesome job Dave !!! You make it look easy, but it's only easy if you know what you are doing.

    Greets from the Netherlands, iT

  • r&d

  • hey dave, you should send them an invoice for your r&d

  • Sorry to see this one needs so many mods, hopefully they will look at this video and make some fixes for the next version.

Something tells me Nitroplanes won't be posting this video on their Channel, lol, that's ok, just like us, they can't be all perfect, lol, that being said, I would still buy from Nitroplanes , just not this one, lol (I will get a jet from them this winter). Thanks for your great review Dave, keeping it real :-)

  • ok its loading now - hi def is good

  • eems to be a problem shared by many smaller scale Spits. I bought a balsa build-up ARF a few years ago (forget the manufacturer) and it fly about the same. Rather than add useless weight I pulled the stock .25 and dropped a Magnum .36 in, a weited prop nut, cut the control throws, and enlarged the rudder (wiggly part) for better yaw control. It improved the CG and penetration enough that it was flyable, but I never really enjoyed it. Ended up trading it off for a Katy II slope ship.

  • Dynam Spitfire? more like D@mn Spitfire. At least you got it to fly.

  • maybe this would download better without music - probobly not, its pretty hi def(too hi def to watch- it wont load ) too bad them foam makers dont do their homework about CGs etc

  • maybe this will download better after ten million people have watched

  • you da man dave make a brick fly!!! ha did you try with out the tail mods? i know it needs to be way way bigger but i would have tryed it with out just for kicks i mean its already pretty messed up how worse can it get great video dave

  • Beautiful seeing that thing tear up the skies after the modifications.

  • *Proof* an ugly-duckling can be better than a swan.

Way to go and keep the great vids coming!

  • It's a beautiful sight. The Spitfire flew real well, a shame you had to mod it so much.

    Great job.

  • Sure its a spitfire , but a parkzone spitfire for example flys great out of the box and looks as good or better.

Anyway great work on the mods it did end up looking good in the air !

  • Wow, nice job mr.herbert. looks like it took a lot of work though. nice video as usual. i make sure to not buy one of them soon. nice video as usual. Also, get better landing gear. lol.

  • i = i'll

  • Dave - Continue to look forward to and enjoy your videos... I know oyu have reviewed some great products from nitro planes but boy it looks like you are working hard to stay positive on this one . A plane that is that far off out of the box and needs those kinds of mods.. i sure wouldnt be happy.

  • wow this flyes great now!!

and since you bent the gear so much its now a low rider lol

  • i love all your videos , the heli fishing and your science classes . i bought the walkera chinook after watching your video . i fly the ikarus su27 xxl and an ultrafly cessna for cruising.was going to ask some question but you'd have no time making these great videos . say hi to Jeff .. wish you all the best baz ..Scotland

  • Dave you had done a great job though making junk fly but I could never doubt you. Maybe if you get tired of it you can use it as a drone and have a f18 or f35 foot it down with bottle rockets. LOL

  • hai uhh im new to flying and i my birthdays coming up, well im not new i can fly a havoc and reflex really good ;D but i was looking for a plane that looks nice and flys because most of the ones i look at look like poop XD

  • Have u ever crashed some planes into the powerlines!??? :P

  • It has happened a couple of times.

    ~Jeff

  • that thing came down fast

  • hello dave,i cant believe this is the same plane from the other video,i think dynam should pay you for your upgrades to make this plane fly,you are awesome man-BTW can you fly a real plane?and do you have a pilots licence?keep up the great work-tom

  • it worked, it was good! wonderful !!!!!

  • very nice work Dave, bit nose heavy maybe ? =:-) It sure flys much better, penetrates the air very well, the manufacturer should make improvements real fast though instead of the customer. Well, you made it fly all right so one more for the hangar..euh, garage ! lol

  • You spend a lot of money for this piece of junk what did Nitroplanes say? You stuck with it buddy ha ha.I hope that junk was a freebie from junko planes.

  • Thought it was going into the corn on that first takeoff.

  • YOO i think i have those gloves

  • Hmm that clay in the front adds a lot of bulk. I know it makes it fly good and all which is great but is there a way to use something smaller but with the same added weight such as a few heavy but little dime magnets or even a metal marble which is small and heavy. Im not sure though. Your the expert haha just thought i would ask.

  • Just using what I have on hand out here on the Tundra. LOL. I dont care what it looks like, cause I can always add lights and fly in the dark. They all look great then. LOL.

  • lol after the last video i thpught right after i saw the first try at flying it again oh man bad vid again lol but after you spruced it up its works great!!! nice modding!!! although the landing gear still could use a lot more work although i dont have to tell you that lol i just started this hobby lol !! i wish i knew how to fly planes like you

  • Wow Thats great I liked the noise it made when it flew by Great work as always.

  • wow! super stable, great job!

  • You dont expect to make those kind of mods on an r.t.f..model, but it looks as if it has worked good job..super dave has done it again.{*_"}

  • The cold has set in, the corn has turned to brown and the heavy jackets have come out sorry to see the warm summer days have left you guys :(

  • That is a pathetic excuse for a spitfire...

  • Great vid. looks a lot better .. glad you were able to fix it !

  • good job Dave it sure is different from the last time it flew, I don't understand why they would push a plane out the door posed as a ready to fly that isn't propperly balanced

  • Great. That was really good work.

  • Excellent job Dave.

After watching both videos I would still not be interested in purchasing one.

Too many modifications are required to correct the improper design.

Only experienced pilots could compensate for the design flaws.

Thanks for the review and flight.

I will steer clear of this one.

    5 Stars ~ Eric

  • Thanks. Good choice.

  • Haha. Thanks.

  • Nice dave, question; what made you decide to choose the other prop and why? thanks :)

  • He probably chose it to make it fly a bit slower. And maybe he likes orange ;)

  • The speed controller burnt up on the first flight, so I decided to reduce some motor drag with a smaller prop. They dont have as much lifting power, but they go faster with higher rpms and less load. And with this weight, once up to speed, it really felt good.

  • Yeah thats a lot better mate and she seems to fly more true now ;-) well i'm glad you got her all sorted out and i had no doubts that you would Dave,5*

  • Glad you got the bugger flying Dave, but I gotta ask.........was it really worth the effort? Not for me I'm afraid, and I am a Brit so I love Spitfires. Great vid anyways.

    Steve.

  • that is sooooooooo much better than the stock. flyes very nice now. looks like you need some bigger wheels though.lol

i looke forward to your next vid.

  • Nice Dave! It looks funny but it works XD

  • very nice flying

  • nice dave how much was the plane?

  • Look in the description box to the right. All info is there.

    Jeff

  • cheers

  • Honestly Dave, you are being way too nice about this plane. It's a piece of crap out of the box, and I think you have the right to say so!!!

  • I did, and in the first video too. But, I own it, so I had to see if I could modify it to fly well, and I did.

  • I'm don't know Dave...I think that any plane that comes "RTF" and is not actually able to be flown should just be binned. So many people love watching your videos that I think polishing turds like these sends the wrong message to manufacturers of planes. Would it not be better to hear which alternative Spitfire models are a better choice?

  • I doubt that many people would buy it if they watch this, so polishing turds as you say, is simply me doing what I can to make things fly, no matter the odds. My challenge. And maybe you ought to watch the first video.

  • It's OK Dave - I'm not trying to abuse you! I even watched the first video beforehand. I suppose I have had the impression over the years that you were being sponsored by Nitroplanes.

  • Polishing turds, LOL! That's a great one! I wonder if Der Stuff would do well with that? It works great on everything else!LOL. Great job as always, Dave. You da man!

  • what a troublesome plane.

  • Thanks you!

    Oh thank you!

You listend to my idea and made the stab bigger!

  • Yes, I figured it couldnt hurt. Thanks.

  • {} <====3 lol

  • longer tial . or longer fusel.

  • So in other words this kit is a duck out of the box!

I feel sorry for the pilot who does not know how to fix, or adjust things to make it fly Money down the drain and another pissed off customer, thanks for the honest review.

  • he said penetrate with momentum

  • LOL

  • great magiver job on that sucker if i know you you loved the challenge plane really moves out now,but i still say they need to take it back to the drawing board you shouldn't have to re invent something that is suppose to be rite.

  • Thanks. I totally agree.

  • You thought I was kidding about making a lead spinner! 11 ounces! How could the mfg'er EVER release this plane the way it was? We all KNEW you'd make it fly!! Great job!

  • Haha. Knew you would comment. Believe me that would be nice, but it would be like a flywheel. LOL Thanks for the comments,.

  • Hehe, the torque would be crazy with a lead spinner! I hope you know I was being facitious. It's always nice to see you reply to your viewers' comments.

  • Great job Dave man it skoots now. I agree a heavy plane can really get some momentum up and fly great. Good job 5 stars

  • Thanks Greg. It was a challenge for sure.

  • Can you move the battery to the nose where you added the weight? Nice mods.

  • Nope, or I would have. The ESC is right behind the motor and needs air. The clay would not fit. I tried though. lol Thanks.

  • Goodw work, know over to the factory to hopefully redeign it so it will fly properly and still look like a Spitfire.

  • Thanks. Hopefully they will pay attention.

  • you really can polish shit

  • you never dissapoint Dave, Good job!!!

  • Looks like a major improvement of what it was before, but it would have been nice to see incremental changes rather than a bunch at once to see if taking the silly scale details off the bottom of the wing would have fixed some of the issues, although it probably still would have needed additional weight on the nose.

  • Weight was most important, and the rest fine tuned it.

  • Hi Dave, you finally fixed the plane!!!

    Very very good.

It looks kind of ugly, but it flyes great.

    Good job.

  • Thanks kindly,.

  • Knew you'd fix it! looks like a smooth fast flyer now.

  • wow 11 oz and the motor still has enough power fo rit? did i miss you saying you changed motors?

    Flys lot better now.

    GET OUT and FLY!!

    BruceM (BFOAMY)

  • Stock motor. All I changed was the prop and the speed controller.

  • been looking forward to this

  • anyone know a good 64mm ducted fan and motor? the stock one for my exeed rc f 35 broke and i need a better quality one.

  • WOW! The difference in flight between this video and the last are astounding. In this video, it actually looks very realistic when it's up in the air. Nice job Dave! I am slightly disappointed with NitroPlanes lack of response, because they are a distributor I like to use when purchasing planes. I would be very interested to know if you get a response from them, as I would like to add this plane to my collection, but am not looking forward to all the mods.

  • I am disappointed too about no response. Maybe they are busy. Thanks for the comments.

  • wow. it looks great in the air! to bad you had to do all of the mods just to make it fly tho. you know us northern boys need planes that can handle wind. i think you need to try a flying wing or something like the parkzone stryker ( im sure eric would have something good to say about that plane) got any more slope videos in the works? im sure that hill would be blowing hard now that the trees are starting to thin out

  • HAHA. Well before I put a new esc in, I did consider using it as a slope soarer. The winds have to blow out of the south for the only hill in Iowa to work, and those winds arent really common. Stay tuned, though.

  • first comment and veiw aha well dave you did it again lol

  • cool it can actually fly now the only thing is that it dos not look ass cool, you should take the wells of your "junk yard dog and put them on the spitfire that would be better

  • Haha. Well if I only fly it in the dark, it will be great. THanks.

  • i have been waiting for this!

  • yup me too

  • WOOO

  • Sweet! First view. Thanks for the great video. Keep up the good work!
