The debt when George W. Bush took office was $5.727 Trillion when he left it was $10.627 Trillion. The total debt that George W accumulated in eight years of office is $4.9 Trillion The debt right now is $13.736 Trillion. In approximately 666 days in office, he has accumulated $3.066 Trillion. Using simple algebra you'll find by Dec 2011, Obama will have accumulated more debt in three years than George W. did in 8 years.
The best part of this whole address is that it comes just a couple days after he told a High School that they needed to begin taking responsibility for their actions. I don't wanna hear anything about it's the republicans fault, because I could care less. My family has been bi-partisan for years and It's ridicules how he keeps blaming Bush for all the deficit spending yet he is pushing billion dollar bills through the house and senate like no other!
Umm... Didn't the Democrats have the majority in the House and Senate during 2008 and 2009? That kinda means they had to pass the budgets for those years, and they had to pass the bailouts. Bush couldn't have added to the deficit in those years without Democratic support of his plans or spending..
This slump we are in has been a long time coming and republican policies are mostly the reason. If you can't stand the truth when Obama points it out then I guess you try to kill the messenger.
The thing is you can get away with pointing out how bad things are once you arrive in office. However, once you've been there for a year or more, it's time to start taking responsibility for what has happened under your watch. Continuing to blame Bush (and I sure don't remember Bush blaming Clinton for the things he could have) just shows immaturity.
Blaming isn't leading. While I'm not a Bush fan, I do know that most of our problems are not solely because of him. The U.S. Congress has just as much, if not more blame for our current situation as the Bush administration regardless of party affiliation. Complacent, whiney, irresponsible, and above all, corrupt. The biggest "change" we'll see will be in November when all are removed and replaced.
@yoginiha no he doesn't blame him but he can surely point out his mistakes. obama is not blaming bush. he is stating the facts. nowadays people are blaming obama for the dire economic times, weren't we already in this mess before he was elected to office?
Bush spent money like a typical liberal and Obama trashes him. Obama spending is on steroids ruining this country. What this country truly needs is a real conservative to stop this insanity.
I'm a conservative and I can agree with Obama on this one. Although it is Bush's mess, what Obama should be doing is acknowledging that it's his mess now.
obama is clearly hitting the tanning salons to keep his "black" status alive...he looks yellow, kinda like a simpsons character...its a shame so many morons voted for this idiot, hes digging his own grave, just a matter of time until GOP bury him
It's Bush's fault. As a Senator, President Obama, you voted for all of the spending under Bush's Administration....which is ALL OF IT before you walked in the door...that means IT IS YOUR FAULT, YOU IDIOT......and those are the "REAL" facts...applaud you other idiots.......don't think......just applaud...it sounds good, right?
we must look not only at where we are and where we're going but WHERE WE'VE BEEN. The situation at this time last year was truly ominous." "...The INHERITANCE of decades of tax and tax and spend and spend."
Bush did it mentality continues. This guy is toast. I predict a lame duck president for the remaining three years and then a not so gracious fade into history for this idiot Oblahblah. Every thinking DemonCrap(Oxymoron I know ) That I know said Oblahblah has to turn around some of his agendas and move to the center. But this nut case is too much of an amateur to realize just how mislead he is by Pelosi And Reid.
The last decade. We are not done with this one. Are people so stupid they cannot count?
we are in the 21st century right? Yet the year starts at 2000. This is because there is no 0 AD. you count 123456789 and 10. this is the last year of the first decade of the 21st century. Obama (and most people) are idiots to think this decade is over. UGH.
Yep, I'll have to tell him "You always need a Plan B and if you bitch and complain that it's Bush's fault, you are fired! Starting leading! Not complaining."
Everything is Bush/Cheney's fault and their cousin Obama is the scapegoat, but don't worry, he's being paid plenty to be the sacrificial lamb!

What is the biggest change between 2000 and 2010?
Who is in charge of spending money?
Which party controlled Congress in 2000?
Which party controls it now?
Nuf said.

CONSERVATIVES! Please RE-POST THIS EVERYWHERE!
Hypocrisy of "'progressive" DEMOCRATS & the LEFT:
-FREE SPEECH & TOLERANCE (Except for conservative views)
-NO VIOLENCE (Except if liberals need it to protest)
-NO RACISM or SEXISM (But hating white males is OK)
-FIGHT AUTHORITY (Unless Liberals are the authority)
-WAR IS WRONG (Unless a Democrat is President)
-"MOVE ON" (But only if a Democrat is caught "Hang em!" if it's a Conservative)
The empowered left is KILLING AMERICA
