  • This video is great xD Made me laugh pretty damn hard, I choked on my cheerios

  • @TheMattieBoosh Should I put a health warning on my channel?

  • @mickeleh That would be much appreciated xD

  • The FDA has forced General Mills to stop claiming that cheerios lowers cholesterol. Its technically true if you eat cheerios instead of something like bacon, but beyond that it was false advertising.

  • @Aerosteon the current claim is OK: "as part of a heart healthy diet, the soluble fiber in Cherrios can help lower your cholesterol."

The claim that the FDA objected to was "lower your cholesterol 4% in 6 weeks." They didn't actually object to the facts in the claim, but said Cheerios would have to be approved as a drug to make such a specific claim without reference" to fruits and vegetables, to fiber content and to keeping the levels of saturated fat and cholesterol in the diet low"

  • Sadly the bowl in the smaller box is actual size...., well not real.

  • i am pleased to be a subscriber... i was "tripping through the lily fields" and found you.. your delivery and humour is one of a kind...

  • People should subscribe more to you, you're plain awesome...

  • @raffitz I'm not going to argue with that. Can you help? Tell your friends. Thanks.

  • haha i think you are completely awesome!

i am soo going to suscribe!

oh and i found you from truth or fail

    :D

  • Hahaha, you're really great. I loved that a.) you did jazz hands and b.) that you really ranted about a cereal box. Awesome.

... Why couldn't they just put the window cling on the inside like the old cereal box prizes? It could be a prize.

  • @staticlovers It's a new cereal prize for adults! Bring out the kid in you :D

  • I will move on before I become a cereal offender

  • but the "enlarged to show detail" was to inform consumers not to be expecting Cheerios as big as what is shown on the box.

  • Of couse. And if they had just said that the Cheerios in the picture are bigger than the ones in the box, I'd be fine. It's the malarkey that they only did it so we could see the detail that set me off.

  • i am SO happy i found this channel, you are hilarious mickeleh

  • Me too. I'm SO happy your found this channerl.... favorite... subscribe... comment... feature the video on your channel page. What more can I ask?

Oh, yes. This: Invite your friends. I'll give 'em all good seats near the screen.

  • I think it's awesome you noticed all of those things! Thanks for the good seats ;)

  • if you've been sittingonanmm for too long, the good seats will do your some real good.

  • this is true!

a good beatles fan will understand my username, i wonder if you are one :)

    goo goo g'joob

  • How can I answer this on "stupid bloody Tuesday"?

  • haha, that was awesome

  • Funny.

  • I enjoy your vids. Thank you

  • to sound like the neighborhood crumudgeon.you said Safeway has given millions. actually it is their customers who have given millions. a little pet pieve of mine. As i check out with my groceries they ask me whether i want to give to breast cancer or not...i just think it wrong to accost your customers as they are just buying their nightly groceries and then turn around and get credit, as they obviously do, for donating millions to breast cancer awareness...ok, grumpy man leaves now ;)

  • Please, stay, grumpy man. I think your point is very well taken. I should have been more accurate and said that Safeway collected the funds rather than donated the funds.

  • Hahaha, this is awesome :D

  • Thanks. (confession: you and Jimmy0010 were somewhere in my head when I was working this up.)

  • They couldn't just put the cling inside? Do they think we put so little trust in them that they have to display the cling so we know its truly there? It's a sad time in which the trust between breakfast-eaters and cereal is broken..

  • I can honestly say I've never put strawberries in my cereal. My serving has NEVER been accurate. Crap.

  • You know, it always worked out fine when the prizes were inside the box.

  • Easy for you to say. But then I wouldn't have had this topic for a video.

  • hahaha :)

  • u still hve safeway in america here they got bought out by morrisons

  • why don't they have the window cling in the box?

  • Mickeleh, you are amazingly awesome

  • I have a red heart-shaped bowl. Didn't get it in the box though. Great video, great to see you again!

  • Better that than having a red bowl-shaped heart.

  • extra plastic is extra waste.

  • does that shrink wrap really add to the packaging? melt it down and its only a penny sized piece of plastic. The massive amount of cardboard and the thicker plastic on the inside are the real eco-unfriendly parts

  • I actually have a red, heart-shaped Cheerios bowl. I don't remember where I got it...

  • Gosh, you sent me Googling. Turns out Cheerios switched from the round bowl to the heart shaped bowl in 2000. Here's what the Canadian marketing manager said at the time: ""The change was made to more accurately reflect what Cheerios has stood for with families for decades, that it cares about them and their families," says Dale Storey, Marketing Manager, General Mills Canada.

Aren't you happy to know that your cereal cares about you?

  • So good to see you again! I'll be watching for that quarterly report...

  • my best friend's mom just had her last radiation treatment and now she is breast cancer free! :)

  • That's wonderful news.

  • Lawyers + feeble minded politicians + redundant marketing types generate these warnings. How's about we grind up lawyers and sell them as burgers? What warnings should we put on that packaging? They would have a very high fat content. As for serving suggestion......

  • really interesting! I Can use that Chereos Example in a lecture on tuesday (Y)

  • Be my guest. Here's something else odd about that package. The bottom panel has this copy: "Cheerios. The One and Only" (tm).

And yet Cheerios has nine line extensions under the brand (a total of ten if you count the original Cheerios): Honey Nut Cheerios, Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, Berry Burst Cheerios, Banana Nut Cheerios, Frosted Cheerios, Yogurt Burst Cheerios, etc.

What could they possibly intend by "The One and Only"? And how can they possible have trademark protection for that phrase?

  • I guess I can stop writing that angry letter to Kellogg's about the lack of singing monkey in my Coco Pops... ;)

  • nice one

  • In that movie The Invention of Lying, where people don't know how to lie, and everyone speaks the truth, advertising is kind of funny.

The ad for Coke says "It is awesome". The ad for Pepsi says "For when you can't get coke". I find that to be hilarious.

  • You just bumped that movie a couple of notches higher on my must-see list. thanks

  • I actually haven't seen the movie and I've heard it got mediocre reviews... I guess the whole "nobody can lie except one guy" gimmick gets kind of worn out to easily for it to last a whole movie. But, I still kind of want to see it anyway. I'm sure it's got some good laughs.

  • Truth in commenting today. Tomorrow, truth in box packaging. I've seen some of the mediocre reviews. But, hey, it's Ricky Gervaise.

  • Haha stuff like that always makes me laugh. "100% pure fruit juice. From concentrate" Is my favourite =D I look forward to seeing your charts!

  • Hey, misleading advertising is serious stuff. I saw Watchmen in a big theatre and loved it, so I bought the DVD when it came out. But when I got it home, the picture was only the size of my TV screen. Major disappointment. I think my lawsuit is a winner, if I can just get it into an American court...

  • We'll never escape the Two Girls, One Cup meme ever, will we?

  • um... well...

  • Two Replies, One Comment.

  • lolz

  • Nice to see you! very nicely observed all those things. CHARTS yeeaaah

  • Two replies, One comment

  • Cheerios. Deceiving disease-aware consumers since 1941.

And yes, I looked up the date Cheerios were invented.

    I'm dedicated to extraneous accuracy.

  • Gee, Cheerios are even older than Mickeleh.

  • wise and very true!

  • What keeps them from putting the window cling INSIDE the box? Sheesh!

Some of those disclaimers and notices do seem pretty silly, but these days, business have to protect themselves from individuals who sue at the drop of a hat.

Case in point: The McDonalds hot coffee incident.

    ~ Jethro.

  • The 'serving suggestion' made me smile .. . and despair a little :-s Are there really people who expect to find a large heart-shaped bowl full of milk stawberries and giant cheerios in the box? Oh dear,oh dear . . .

  • i have cousins from france, and they visited my family a few summers ago, and i remember one of my cousins being so amused that they actually had to put "enlarged to show detail" and "serving suggestion" on the cereal boxes. he thought it was the silliest thing! and it kinda is!

  • There are actually no health benefits to the cereal unless eaten out of a red heart shaped bowl that's size is changed to alter the amount of visible detail.

  • LOL. Of course. Why didn't I see that? (Must have been on the side panel.)

  • Also, this was funny. I should eat more cheerios and less nothing for breakfast, myself... Eating breakfast, especially a healthy breakfast, is just good for your overall health... prevents compensation gorging!

  • Wow, you look awesome in HD.

  • Thank you.

  • I did my degree in Packaging design, so I must agree with the shrink wrap issue ;)

My favourite is "Not actual size" always makes me chuckle :)

  • I joined because I watched your ourmixtape video but I've been meaning to since I saw you at SitC.

I thought you made some very valid point about that packaging and it annoys me that they have actually shrink wrapped it.

    *grr*

  • That's why advertising is repeated again and again. Sometimes it just takes a few encounters to spur people to action. Thanks for the subscription.

  • The enlarged and shrunken part had me chuckling. Great vid. And you're welcome, thanks for the shout out.

  • great video! :)

  • Thanks.

  • hooray! uke and Charts!

  • The outrageous lies of cereal boxes have long plagued me. Thank you for helping to expose the cereal companies for the frauds they are.

  • Here's another one: The label on the big box recommends a serving size of 28 grams. Guess how much cereal they put into the tiny "single-serving" box? 26 grams!

  • Those monsters. We have to bring them down, you and me, and whoever else we can rally together. These is sort of life-damaging lies must end here!!! Vive la revolution!

  • I enjoyed this video, it was funny

  • That's a relief... I classified it under Comedy. (whew!)

  • yeah! more charts!!

  • --so stick the window cling INside the box!!! silly safeway.

    --what a two-faced son-of-a-box. humph!

    --OOooooh! charts!!

    ....hmm...pandora's antidote: cheerios? O_o

    <3

  • LOL. Wouldn't you like to have a spy cam at the meeting where they came up with this promotion?

  • I dont like Shrink Wrap at all. Breast Cancer Awareness month is very important as well.
