most probable thing realisticly, is that they have a magnetic track under the normal track, and sonic and shadow both have magnets in their shoes, also in the original games dr Ivo robotnic was athletic enough to run to his next machine before sonic caught him.

Has everyone noticed that the people who made this trailer were very careful never to actually show anyone gaining an advantage over the other? Mario and Sonic were always dead-even when they ran; Luigi and Shadow jumped over the tiles in perfect unison; Amy's screen-time was balanced by Peach; Tails and Yoshi were dead even in ping-pong, etc. And on a more personal note, CREAM AS A REFEREE!!! WOOHOO! (I'm a Cream fan, if you couldn't tell. I think "Referee" fits her perfectly.)

In this game I think they tried to make all the characters equal: not letting Tails fly, not letting Sonic hit top speed, Shadow not having his skates, etc. So that way the game is more fair to all the characters.
