@mer4ndill Easy, even in text mode game boots with directx 9.0, so directx 8.1 reduces usage of RAM and CPU.

-map "itemtest" - just boots a little map, so you don't need to be connected to someserver and this little map also reduces usage of RAM and CPU.

There is an easier way to unlock stuff. Just go to training and go to offline practice and leave it as long as you want and unlock stuff. This worked for me and I got 5 items in 3 days.

This DOES NOT WORK. I leave it on overnight, it stays in the server for 3 hours (after the reset on thursday) Then no matter what server, it says 'server connection timed out' i log in the next morning, and i get no items whatsoever.

Just idled this way for 9 hrs in an achievement_idle server , turned off TF2, deleted the commands, logged in a server, killed my self and got absolutely nothing... BOO.
